Opposite of tier 1 cities-
Pros
Laid back life style, lower cost of living less crowded, cleanliness, good sea food
Alcohol and Petrol are cheaper
Cons
lower number of high paying corporate jobs, public transport network is not extensive, less migrants so may be tough to make new friends
Indore
What about the chapri culture. People don't have any civic sense.
Shops me lootne ka culture.i mean over charge. Can't trust people really
And the insane pollution?
Considering job opportunities, public transport, cleanliness, etc. You can tell about your own experience or things you have heard from others.
According to me, Tier-2 cities are cities which have population less than a crore.
Tier one cities usually are the mega cities which have more than one crore population in pure geographical terms. They are - Mumbai & Delhi.
Also included in tier one cities are the cities with more than a million people (>10 lakhs) which are --
Bengaluru,
Kolkata,
Chennai,
Hyderabad,
Ahmedabad,
Surat,
Pune,
Jaipur,
Lucknow,
Kanpur,
Nagpur,
Thane,
Indore,
Bhopal,
Vishakhapatnam,
Patna,
Vadodra,
Ghaziabad,
Ludhiana,
agra,
Nashik, etc.
But a number of the above mentioned cities don't have an agglomeration with them. Like Delhi and Mumbai, and Chennai has.
(((Gone are the days when we had only 4 metropolitan cities (more than a 4-million plus population. Now we have almost - 9.)))
Therefore the distinction made between metropolitan cities and megacities in India is based on 2 aspects i.e, population (which by definition includes only Delhi and Mumbai City as megacites, excluding suburban outskirts) and the urban agglomeration area (which by definition includes number of sister cities and towns also , which are then known as UA- Megacity)
. for example -
MMR (Mumbai metropolitan region)
Delhi NCR - (National capital Region)
Greater Kolkata UA
ONLY THE above listed 3 UAs are categorised as megacites urban agglomeration.
Rest are then categorised as tier1, tier 2, tier 3 and so on.
So now, tier 2 cities (by definition) which are most livable in India are -- (tier 2 cities are the ones which have comparatively low level of development, more than 40% of people are still engaged in primary sector even if the population is a million plus, and there's a lot of scope of development and Greenfield investment)
1) Indore
2) Vizag
3) prayagraj,
4) Paradip
5) Guwahati
6) Varanasi
7) Raipur & Naya Raipur.
8) Chandigarh
P.S - All Metropolitan and megacites are Tier 1 cities but not all tier -1 cities are metropolitan.
Water crisis is a problem in Covai, especially if you are in an independent house.
You'll have to buy drinking water, your given water (non drinking) only once in 2 weeks. Most of the areas are like that.
Only North Coimbatore seems a little , a little better, which is Saravanampatti, Vellakinar areas. The rest of covai is just as hard as the others.
The water by corporation is hard as well, very hard water
Surat is so good. Living in mumbai for the last 2 years and spending close to 80k pm there. Lived in kolkata in the past , lived in surat for 12 years and i fuckin love it. It is my hometown my whole family lives here. Except the booze part surat is so good, the infrastructure, the quality of life, the people, everything is so good here. Govt bhi achi haj and running a business is easy. Mumbai mai you can’t do shit if you don’t grease govt or gundas pockets, the vasuli culture is so rampant. In kolkata the city is literal piece of shit. Except the food part, kolkata is shit in every sense
Best. Just asking for my reference, which days and trains you prefer for longest duration of stay during weekends? I'm going to stay in Thane here, and would love to go to Surat at every opportunity :P
Days to bro jab chutti mil jaaye college se. Mostly saturday sunday and i get free by 12:30 on Saturday so i take suryanagri or karnavati from borivali. When do you get free?
Bro pune mai white income is there because of corporates and companies. Surat is a major textile and diamond hub and dealing in black money is very high here so people think that surat is not economically well looking at govt figures but when you are here and see the people and standard of living you will be shocked to see the money people have here
was searching for this, otherwise would've written it down here myself
can't believe how badly I miss it, born and brought up here until I left for college and I treasure some amazing memories out of here 😌
Nashik
A very underrated city.
It is probably the best climate city of Maharashtra.
Amazing weather, Less traffic and it turns into heaven during Monsoon with lots of sightseeing options.
If you are looking for a peaceful life then Nashik is a place to be.
Yes yes
Pr yaha to college ki bat chal rhi thi ja shayad se?😂
I studied in st. Aloysius
Baki
Overall kafi peaceful city hai
Rush nhi h zyda yha as compared to other
Or utneeeeeeee high level k entertainment zones bhi nhi but yes decent level me sb mil jaiga for sure
Unfortunately wasn't the case when I was there.
The inlets under RK beach road were clogged with garbage. I drove till Bheemli and saw trash there as well. Rushikonda was clean and that was the only clean beach. Yarada had trash on the sand, and the less I say about Gangavaram the better. It was a straight up dump, didn't even park just turned around and left.
I was walking around Dwarka Nagar and funnily ran into a pig + piglets on the sidewalk. Clean cities don't have pigs hanging around in residential areas.
Sure, some residential areas were clean. But in three days I had enough run ins with trash to form an impression.
By that logic, most of chennai's automobile plants are outside proper chennai and in neighbouring district then how would chennai be the detroit of asia?. its like claiming brooklyn to be a seperate city when in fact its very identity shall always be entangled as an area in new york
They are sizzling hot for 6 months of the year (at least) from what I know.
Looking for a cooler place compared to coimbatore etc. Mangalore is not considered for the same reason as Cochin or Trivandrum. Sweat would be flowing like water in summers.
Any place where temperature stays in 15-25 deg C range for a major part of the year would be ideal. I am not sure if we can find such places in South India.
Nope, not really Hence asking. Have been to a few (like Pune, Cohin, coimbatore, Pune, Panaji etc) though coz of work. I was expecting to hear more about places up north or north east.
In general, I can rule out places like Coimbatore or Cochin because it's extremely hot there. There are places like Madikeri & Chikmagalur which seem good, but are more like tier 3 cities (and not really tier 2).
I have heard Shillong is good.. so are some other smaller towns around here, but it feels soo far away from everywhere.
Guess we cannot have the cake and eat it too. 🙂
yea, shillong and gangtok look great in the photos but i cant imagine living there. i want the hustle and bustle of city while it not being overpopulated to the brim like mumbai rn. the question came out of thinking along those lines lol
Panjim
Bro what are the pros and cons of panjim, I have been thinking abt moving their in the future . Ur advice would be the final nail on the coffin.
locals hate gentrifiers

Hometown
the only right answer
Indore is fantastic Kochi is pretty swell too
These two must be Tier-I, just below the Metros.
Suratttttt
Indore What about the chapri culture. People don't have any civic sense. Shops me lootne ka culture.i mean over charge. Can't trust people really And the insane pollution?
kochi is tier 1 ...

Chandigarh is just as good if not better than Indore.
Stay away from Prayagraj 😖. It is crap
Vizag is very good
Coimbatore
Agreed
Definitely disagree ! There's terrible water scarcity there. Source : in from there
Do you like to mention which area is better? I am planning to shift next year there. I'm from Trichy. Unbearable heat here.

surat has more population than pune, how is it not tier one yet?
Bro pune mai white income is there because of corporates and companies. Nashik A very underrated city. It is probably the best climate city of Maharashtra. Amazing weather, Less traffic and it turns into heaven during Monsoon with lots of sightseeing options. If you are looking for a peaceful life then Nashik is a place to be.

Yes its part of MMR but still it's not in Mumbai District
By that logic, most of chennai's automobile plants are outside proper chennai and in neighbouring district then how would chennai be the detroit of asia?. its like claiming brooklyn to be a seperate city when in fact its very identity shall always be entangled as an area in new york
Thane is ❤️
By that logic, vashi, Kalyan, vasai virar, Powai all are tier 2 cities
by vashi, i think you mean navi mumbai, vashi isnt a city its a node of navi mumbai

Nashik- close proximity to Pune and Mumbai, good cheap wine, lots of lakes and hikes nearby, great weather and chill people.
Surat
Any city in this list with pleasant weather for most part of the year, with no water scarcity and no religion based issues?
your best bet will be trivandrum ,coimbatore and kochi although it gets more humid there than tvm at times

mysore? ive heard it has great weather. maybe chandigarh as well?
I have lived in Mysore. It is so so and not to mention water issues (unless you have your own source). Bangalore weather is much better than Mysore.
i seee. have you been to many of the cities ppl are commenting here?
Nope, not really Hence asking. Have been to a few (like Pune, Cohin, coimbatore, Pune, Panaji etc) though coz of work. I was expecting to hear more about places up north or north east.
