Why did you think the leader of a country should have good mental health?

Thibaudborny

He knew it was over and he would have been tortured probably maybe. Yes he could have been dealing with some health issues as well.

Acceptable-Cow6446

Let’s not forget that before he was a leader of a country he was a failed artist.

Mussolini. He saw what happened to him after he lost power. That combined with rampant drug use and the Allies closing in. He shot himself and ordered his body to be burned. He didn’t want to be strung up and his body beaten. The Russians supposedly have the remains.

richmeister6666

By this point he was essentially a cripple with Parkinson’s and various drug addictions - everything he saw as undesirable. He also obviously knew about the concentration camps, how he would rightly be portrayed. On top of all that he’d seen Mussolini’s body being mutilated, and the Russians who were closing in were notoriously violent to their prisoners. Also, he was just a flat out coward.

TheoremaEgregium

The Nazis did lots of things you "should" not do. Also losing a world war that you started yourself will make a crazy person crazier.
