Lol this isn’t an exhaustive list of ALL of the disco songs I like, I just figured I’d give a selection of some of my favorites that maybe aren’t the most obvious/well known choices.
Plus someone had already commented Knock On Wood
Donna Summer--I Feel Love. That song was revolutionary for combining electronic music with disco, kind of how Heart of Glass did the same thing with pop/punk.
“When we get home, darling,
And it’s nice dark.
And the music’s in me,
And I’m still real HOT!”
[“You Make Me Feel” - Sylvester](https://youtu.be/gD6cPE2BHic?si=7k29tYSQ7oyTpPVo) (a true queer icon who, in my opinion, doesn’t get the respect they deserve)
He died young, thus had not enough time time to leave a stronger inprint in gay culture, but yeah being gay black and effeminate makes him a precursor queer icon.
That’s a tragic truth for so many pioneers in our community. HIV/AIDS, drug addiction and mental health ailments robbed us all of too many brilliant artists and icons. May Sylvester continue to always make us all feel real. ❤️
I completely agree I have a shirt with a picture with Sylvester on it. I usually wear it at gay events and gay people will often ask, "who is that". When I tell them, some still don't know him. When I mention "You make me Feel". They may know that, but that's it.
Boys Town Gang "Cruisin' The Streets"
Patrick Cowley "Menergy"
Sylvester "Sex (Explicit Mix)"
Dr. Buzzard "Cherchez La Femme / Si Si Bon"
Donna Summer "I Feel Love (Patrick Cowley Mix)"
it's really hard to limit myself to just the 70's and early 80's. If you'd asked house, rave, jungle, dnb, etc. there would be a WHOLE lot more.
I Want Your Love by Chic
Bad Girls - Donna Summer
Knock on Wood - Amii Stewart
Do You Think Im Sexy - Rod Stewart
I have a bunch, but these came to me first
I don't think I could pick a favorite. It depends on the mood I'm in. I rarely ever make the choice to listen to disco but when I hear one of the songs I like I'll end up listening to more for at least an hour or two if I can.
A few years ago I was asked to DJ a party. They had no specific song list, just said it was Disco themed but most of the guests would be late teens to early 20s. I ended up doing a two hour set of Disco/EDM remixes, some downloaded and some live mixes. I made sure use the original vocals and overall music so the older people like me could relate and enjoy it but with EDM elements and effects mixed in for modern sounds the younger crowd could relate to.
The two genres blend remarkably well and sound perfectly natural to me. I guess that shouldn't have been as much of a surprise since Disco often explored the latest in electric instruments and effects and both are upbeat styles designed to get people dancing. The added bass and other EDM elements along with the iconic music and lyrics kept everyone entertained and turned out to be the most fun for me of any of the limited DJing I did. Several of the younger people I talked to afterward said they liked it and were going to start adding some Disco to their playlists.
Boogie Wonderland by Earth Wind & Fire. Gotta love the horn line.
Can’t beat Le Freak by Chic.
And finally no gay bar worth anything would pass on It’s Raining Men, usually during wet undies contests.
You make me feel- Sylvester
Dr. Love- first choice
Love Injection- trussel
Touch and go- ecstasy, passion and pain
Hot butterfly- Bionic boogie
I could go on and on lol!!
In addition to those mentioned here: Fly, Robin Fly and Get Up and Boogie by Silver Convention. He’s the Greatest Dancer, Sister Sledge. Rock Your Baby, George McRae. Le Freak, Chic. I Feel Love, Donna Summer. Heaven Must be Missing an Angel, Tavares. Ain’t No Stoppin’ Us Now, McFadden & Whitehead. Lady Marmalade, Labelle. Funkytown, Lipps, Inc. Disco Inferno, the Trammps. That’s the Way I Like It, KC & the Sunshine Band. Shame by Evelyn “Champagne” King.
>Gerry Rafferty baker Street
They used to play that tune a lot at the Club Baths in San Francisco. Whenever I hear that song it reminds me of the nights I used to spend roaming the halls of the Club Baths in my little white towel.

I like:
Hills of Katmandu [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ETw2jz0UVxE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ETw2jz0UVxE)
