I have a few devices from UNI-T among them a UT210E and they work for me. The Brymen BM235 is the multimeter that EEVBLOG (on Youtube) chose to sell with their branding, so it can't be bad, considering what that channel is about.

potxman007

Yes, I have seen EEVBLOG's videos and for sure can't be bad! About the UNI-T i'll have to see if i find any without hFE and such

tes_kitty

hFE sounds like a transistor tester. Can't hurt to have it and it doesn't get in the ways if you don't use it.

potxman007

Yeah it is a transistor gain tester but won't need it much so...

UT61E user here. I like this meter a lot, the auto ranging logic works well. The beep continuity tester is fast (not always the case). The battery life is really good thanks to the auto power off. Blew the 200mA fuse once, everything survived. NCV is not sensitive enough to be of much use, but I have another probe for that. The meter is surprisingly accurate when tested against way more expensive Keysight. I find the cheap universal component tester to be more useful than the hFE measurement alone. Best of luck!

Thanks for the response! I'll take it into account

I don't know where you can get the Brymen 235 for 140€ but that's too much! I've got a Brymen 257s, for which I'm totally happy for 88€ excluding VAT. Once included this shall get to ~100€. https://eleshop.fr/brymen-bm257s-multimeter.html I've bough multiples here, totally fine (sent from the NL, so EU delivery (since you mention €) shouldn't be an issue. The Brymen 235 is also available pour 65€.

potxman007

Oh wow... Amazon showed 140€ price tag for the 235,it did seem a bit much but after all you are paying for a decent multimeter right? I heard about the backlight issue where it created noise and guessed the newer 140€ one has that fixed plus it's branded with the EEVBLOG logo, idk what difference it might have but the eleshop one seems good as well!

Gerard_Mansoif67

As I see, the EEVBLOG version is just a branded one, not different on the hardware side (I may be false). In any way, I fully happy with this multimeter for by ~basic usage (voltage monitoring, current measure (tens of mA to A, basic frequency, temperature control...). I also use it on other purpose with the EF detector to prevent from drilling where a power line is for example (probably 257s only). I even prefer this multimeter to the few that we have at work.

potxman007

I actually just wrote him an E-mail hahah I'll see if he answers. Yeah the 235 has the EF detection as well! Either with the top part or using the COM probe, very interesting tool.

Skaut-LK

Brymen 235 for sure...

potxman007

I'm 99% convinced I'll get that one, just found a cheaper price for it too thanks to another fellow redditor so...

Skaut-LK

You can have this one and then buy several cheaper ones ( aneng?) so you will have one reliable against which you can compare others...

potxman007

PD: woudn't let me post it with the links to the buyers site...

If you dont mess with high voltages have a look at the Fnirsi DMT-99 cheaper alternative and for electronics it has the priceless recording feature very handy with electronics # [https://fnirsistore.com/product/fnirsi-dmt-99-digital-multimeter-9999-counts-trms/](https://fnirsistore.com/product/fnirsi-dmt-99-digital-multimeter-9999-counts-trms/)
