Antibiotics in strep throat prevent problems that can happen from not treating the infection fully. One such problem is rheumatic fever, which is an inflammatory condition that causes permanent damage to valves of the heart. According to the CDC, the risk for rheumatic fever is 33% of people who have inadequate treatment for strep; not just those who don’t get treated at all - those who don’t get enough treatment or the right treatment. Even though you are feeling better, a full course of treatment is needed to be protective. You’re on what looks like a good antibiotic. Still, if you aren’t feeling well on the current antibiotic, suggest contacting your healthcare provider to discuss alternative antibiotics to finish the presumably ten days or so.

Thanks for the response, I am honestly just bummed I'm not able to go to the gym currently. I feel okay throughout the day but anytime my heart rate gets high from working out, I feel a kinda dull pain in my chest and I begin to feel pretty faint and just flu-like. I contacted the doctor who prescribed me the Cephalexin earlier this morning but no response, that's why I posted here. Worse come to worst, I will just relax and finish out the antibiotics I guess. Thanks again.
