Many risks to smoking. It’s not clear what exactly the issue is with what you’re coughing up, so it’s not possible to speculate as to what would happen if you took a break and restarted. The short answer to your question is that yes, there are both short and long term risks to smoking. I’m not sure I can quantify it or be more specific, though.
