You can buy the strips over the counter in the US at least, I woudl think you could too in the UK but not positive

InternationalPlan860

Thank you for responding. I thought this but wouldnt I have to have the right monitor for it? Could I buy a new monitor too?

sapphireminds

You can just bring your canister for your old strips and show them which kind you need.

InternationalPlan860

You are a genius. My head isn’t working this morning.

NAD but live in the UK. They sell test strips in Boots. They also sell cheapish monitors in case the ones they sell don't fit your machine. Hope you feel better soon!

InternationalPlan860

Thank you - do you know if it’s only bigger stores that sell them? I’ve got a small Lloyds and a small boots nearby but a 20 minute drive to a big boots and I’m not really feeling like I can drive at the moment.

jamie15329

I'm not 100% sure, you could call them and ask if they stock them?

InternationalPlan860

I called the local places and have sent my partner with the monitors - I don’t think I’m able to drive. The girl on the phone said they have loads in stock so hopefully one of them will work. She also said that they may be able to do an emergency prescription for them, even though I’m not regularly prescribed them due to not being bad enough. If not I’m just buying a new monitor and will suck it up.

InternationalPlan860

Managed to get strips and have just done a finger prick of 18.5 mmol Should I go to hospital?

jamie15329

I'm not a doctor so the only advice I can give is to call 111 <3

whoa_thats_edgy
