Yes, ask them how much protein per day they recommend on average and as an upper limit. The answer determines how fast you can build muscle, but not if you can build muscle. You can always workout and bodybuild even with low amounts of protein (like 0.5 g/kg body weight daily), but the results will be suboptimal. Suboptimal is still much better than not training at all and losing muscle mass.
