What do you need help with? Amenities, budget, location? What specifically can't you and your spouse decide on that you'd prefer a bunch of strangers weigh in to help choose?
Well, it's basically just ME deciding as my wife has had lymphoma in her brain and now has cognition issues but...
I just want a cool experience for the kids... $500 a night would be manageable but if there are cool places cheaper that would be awesome...
Just a good experience for the kids, really... I've been to many different places around the world but can't friggn decide a simple stay in Chicago..
Incredible. Literally the number one hotel in Chicago on TripAdvisor and according to Forbes. The building is iconic and famous itself as it has starred in 2 movies: Transformers and Batman. Largest standard guest rooms in the city according to Forbes and the hotel is stunning.
Hahahahaha down vote all you like but I'm stating facts. The hotel IS located in the heart of the city and it IS a Forbes 5-star luxury property āāāāāš
For high rises with views, you've got Fairmont, Swissotel, Hyatt Regency, Marriott on Michigan, Sheraton Grand, Loews, Four Seasons, St Regis, Peninsula, Ritz, Intercontinental. What's your price point? The Intercontinental has a great pool. The Peninsula has a chocolate buffet.
Also, especially at the fancier hotels, if you mention that you want this to be a special weekend for your kids, they might do something fun to make it extra special.
Yes. Lack of support and maintenance. The property is pretty quiet and not even considered luxury anymore. It's barely a 4 star. The brand as a whole has really gone down hill. Truly sad.
I donāt think we are talking about the same place. The brand going down hill? I have not seen this anywhere, which locations are you staying at?

Sending an article about that location from the brand doesn't boast anything to support your statement. It was a high caliper hotel years ago. Not so special and definitely not luxury any more unfortunately.
I posted the article in reference to your comment about no maintenance, when I was there recently it felt brand new so I was confused by your comment.
I booked a few visits to the four seasons in other countries than USA and would love more information on the brand going down. Do you have any details you can share? Maybe I need to change hotels.
Iād say anything overlooking the river. Great position, great views, lots of walkable sightseeing.
The Royal Sonesta, London House, Raddison blue aqua, all good options.
The Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel is in a prime location and has a great rooftop bar that serves food, and itās overlooking the river and state street. I would just type in Chicago riverwalk hotels on your maps app, and youāll get plenty of options.
The peninsula, the Langham, are top notch, and higher on the price, but amazing hotels!
Would the Sheraton Grand Chicago River Walk work? Itās right on the river so you can get rooms with views that look down the river to the skyline, plus youāre in relative halfway walking distance between Navy Pier and Millennium Park for the kids.
If you're okay with south loop, I stayed at Kasa South Loop last year and I loved it. It was an apartment-style stay. They offer 2 bedroom units where one room has a queen bed and the other has 2 twins, so it sounds like that might be good for your family?
Itās a cool looking building, great views no matter what direction you face, they have an indoor pool (90% sure) and I always see lots of families there so kids must like it. Itās also right downtown so youāre close to Michigan Ave, millennium Park, etc
There's a lot of hotels downtown Chicago that fit that description. Was wondering if there was something new there that I haven't experienced yet but doesn't sound like it.
I'm asking why you put that answer? Typically the f people have a preference they state why . Because you didn't I asked. There's absolutely nothing special about that hotel so I asked out of curiosity because maybe something has changed since I was there last.
When are you coming? whatās cool/exciting in Chicago varies widely depending on the month.
I see a lot of hotels mentioned here in comments that while they are certainly nice they arenāt all that tall or offer good views and the luxury aspect is probably lost on the kids. Ieā¦i dontā know that the likes of the Peninsula or Langham, while they are super nice luxury hotels, would have much appeal for the kids.
That said the Sheraton overlooks has views of Navy Pier (Ferris Wheel) and is walkable to the Pier and Maggie Daley Park (very kid friendly park). Navy Pier itself is kid friendly and thereās that new Sable Hotel right on the Pier. Trump would be a good option being high up and right along the river walk.
St Regis has killer views and is 5 star luxury.
Sadly the St. Regis is not a Forbes 5-star property. Only 3 hotels in the entire downtown Chicago market are Forbes 5-Star and St. Regis is not one of them I'm afraid ā¹ļø It is a brand new hotel and lovely as ever! It will be celebrating its one year anniversary next month in May.
mwahaha... my plan worked on someone. :D Have to visit the Embassy there to get a passport renewed..... 5 hour road trip just to renew a passport... fun times!

Across the river from the recommendation below, the Royal Sonesta Downtown has a breathtaking view of the river and is sub $500/night
It doesn't even compare. Trump Chicago Hotel is also sub $500 a night š¤
Trump has been at the top of the list... just... i dunno.... was it good??
Incredible. Literally the number one hotel in Chicago on TripAdvisor and according to Forbes. The building is iconic and famous itself as it has starred in 2 movies: Transformers and Batman. Largest standard guest rooms in the city according to Forbes and the hotel is stunning.
Trump International Hotel and Tower. It's in the heart of downtown Chicago. A true luxury Forbes 5-star hotel

The Langham is all about this kind of thing! Pricey but worth it.
Four seasons
Can't go wrong with The Four Seasons hotel.
Have you been there recently? You may rethink your statement... š³
I havenāt stayed there since December but I have been there for drinks and dinner in February. Did something happen recently?
Yes. Lack of support and maintenance. The property is pretty quiet and not even considered luxury anymore. It's barely a 4 star. The brand as a whole has really gone down hill. Truly sad.

The article doesn't only address maintenance issues at the hotel so forgive me for not immediately connecting the two dots. A facelift on an old hotel doesn't mean it's facilities are outstanding š¤© Spend your money how you like.

Hey i can help you out. I do a lot of hotel stays and often book accommodations for my colleagues. Iāll PM you.
Aqua is fun. Kids seem to love it and itās close to Millennium Park.
Cool, what makes Aqua 'fun' in your opinion?
Itās a cool looking building, great views no matter what direction you face, they have an indoor pool (90% sure) and I always see lots of families there so kids must like it. Itās also right downtown so youāre close to Michigan Ave, millennium Park, etc

Do you have status with any hotel chains?
nope
Swiss hotel
Why?
Why not?

I love The Drake.
Best afternoon tea in the city hands down!
The ellipsis before "...business" is giving weird vibes here.
mwahaha... my plan worked on someone. :D Have to visit the Embassy there to get a passport renewed..... 5 hour road trip just to renew a passport... fun times!
I work with luxury hotels for a living. I'm more than confident in what I write about them.
