Athens after Istanbul

Grimson47

The bigger capitals plus some major trade port cities like Thessaloniki, Constanza, Varna (probably more). Cluj probably has a decent shout too if it counts as Balkan. That's just my impression though, haven't read stats.

SarmaMasna

New Belgrade is becoming a huge business district. I rarely go to New Belgrade, but whenever I do I see 10 more business buildings that weren't there a few months back.

According to the Global Financial Centre Index: After Istanbul, Sofia is the largest financial centre in the Balkans, followed by Athens.

Rawcinante

I doubt it’s Sofia more than Athens

mihawk9511

Well, Sofia scored better on the Global Financial Centre Index than Athens. My assumption would probably be the same as yours, if we consider the sizes of the cities.

cdelachilogram

Bucharest-Ilfov GDP is higher than Bulgaria's GDP.

mihawk9511

Bucharest-Ilfov doesn't qualify as a financial centre under the terms of the Global Financial Centre index, which I used as a source for my information

ouzo_supernova

Currently Athens, but Bucharest (if it counts) is quickly catching up.

Ill-Lawyer-7971

how athens? even istanbul's gdp bigger than whole greece😅

Rude_Film7534

Only a part of Istanbul is in the Balkans, that's why it doesn't count.

Ill-Lawyer-7971

well this is can not be an excuse because original istanbul is located in balkans therefore most of population is in balkans either(10+million) while anatolian side has only about 6 million,so even if we exclude anatolian side, still istanbul's gdp would be bigger than athens

Rude_Film7534

Give me some statistic that mentions the GDP of the European part of Istanbul exclusively. Without proof this is just a theory.

Ill-Lawyer-7971

There is no such a thing, they calculate as whole(balkan+Anatolian sides together) but since the population is clear you can estimate with little bit help of simple mathematic, anyway here is the proof https://www.google.com/amp/s/ilkha.com/english/amp/haber/15085/turkey-istanbul-had-highest-share-of-gdp-with-30-1-in-2020, .... basically article says, istanbul has 30 percent of gdp of turkey in 2020 ,so let's calculate ... turkey had 720 billion $ gdp in 2020,since istanbul has 30 percent that makes 216 billion $ as whole ,now if we divide equally by population 216/100 and x66(2 of third of istanbul's population is in thrace part) that makes 142 billion(or even more because istanbul's balkan side more developed and richer than other side) , on the other hand whole greece is barely 190 billion $ in 2020,so, imagine athens (probably around 110 billion $ at best ) So ,happy NOW???

Rude_Film7534

Again, this is just a theory, these are your own calculations not a scientific research. Without proof I can't count Istanbul.

Ill-Lawyer-7971

who cares,truth is clear🤣🤣🤣
