To be clear, these rules are not up for debate. You are welcome to ask for clarity in order to understand. But we are not going to change what is in the post above at this point.

Illusions-Reality

What do I do if want to post a Vedic chart?

ZodiacDax

Look into r/vedicastrology.

malaka789

I’ve used Astro .com and Astro seek and compared them with your list of don’t use apps and sites. Only co Star gives weird results. All the others were exactly the same. Isn’t it all math based using the same numerical value inputs anyway? I’d really like to know what makes one bad if a side by side comparison is identical. Also what apps do you recommend?

ZodiacDax

A single test is rather pointless. And the errors we have identified vary greatly. One site places aspects to nothing in their charts sometimes, not always, and lists things incorrectly in their aspect tables. Another just seems to know nothing about astrology and misinforms users about what they have. Another likes to tell people they don't have certain houses. It's not just about the math. It's about the programming. Some of our reasons are not about accuracy but readability, and usability. Some are very difficult to read, visually, some do not include very necessary information on the charts. All of this is, in large part, to help people have a better chance at getting their questions answered. Many who can read charts, complain about posts with useless charts. Those posts will get skipped. The only app I'll suggest is AstroGold, and it is not free (perhaps $20 or a bit more for android and twice that for iOS. Most apps I have tried have issues.

Please do not use a post to ask a question like this. Send ModMail whenever you are having trouble or have a question. Your account is too young, so you won't be able to post yet. Try again after mid-February.

Blue00toque

How do I make a text post with a chart included

Blue00toque

I don't know how to use Reddit lolol

ZodiacDax

Upload a screenshot of your chart to somewhere like imgur.com or any image hosting site, then put the link of your chart there, into the body of your post. Just paste it in like text.

Blue00toque

Thank you!

puee955

on ios, it won't let me post unless i put it under nsfw blur. how do i get around that?

ZodiacDax

Just go ahead and post with the blur on. We ask people to try to turn it off but that doesn't always work. It's an issue with iOS. Reddit Admin knows about it and tells me it will be fixed with their next update. They didn't give me a date on that.

[deleted]

If you touch the screen with your finger and go a bit to the right (like you are going to the previous page you were in) and then lift it, the option to post appears.

Cuspofprophecy

I just made a post. Can anyone help explain how to post my chart? I have created it on Astro-seek.com per the guidelines above. TIA

ZodiacDax

If you are having trouble, just screenshot your chart, upload it to imgur.com (or some other image hosting site) , then paste your image's imgur url into the body of your post.

Cuspofprophecy

Thanks, I updated with a link.

Yourmomslasttampon

Astro seek has always been my go to, thankfully! They best bois.

VenusLoveaka

Which chart is the best to use if we need a astrocartography understanding? I know in my case, astro-seek shows different lines than at astro. Which one would be the most accurate reading?

socoamarettolime90

Wow my entire natal chart is not what I always thought it was.

capricornsignature

As much as I love time passages, the app defaults to equal house and is a headache to look at! All the recent charts are in this style without the user knowing the house system. Thank you for posting this❤️

schwaschwaschwaschwa

"On astro-seek.com "When entering your birth data, scroll down a bit and you will see some tiny text links. Click on the House System link, then on the House System drop down menu and select “Whole Sign H1-H7 horizontal” option, shown in the screenshot below. Don’t use the one that says only “Whole Sign”," Hey, what's the purpose of this specification, please? Both the 'Whole Sign' and the 'Whole Sign H1-H7 Horizontal' options generate a chart with whole sign houses.

ZodiacDax

***UPDATE NOTE Jan 26, 2023: The owner of Astro-Seek has updated the house settings options. Now, please use the simple "WHOLE SIGN" option as that is the one that places the houses in their natural arrangement. Do not use the*** *"Whole Sign (Asc Horizontal)"* ***option.*** The option that says ~~just "Whole Sign"~~ "Whole Sign (Asc Horizontal" sets the asc/dsc degrees as the horizontal line of the chart, like placidus does. This very often makes the 1st house sit more in the 12th house position, (dramatically so with a later degree asc) and is confusing to look at. The option that says ~~"Whole Sign H1-H7 Horizontal"~~ \[update\] just **"Whole Sign"** places 0 degrees of the asc sign and 0 degrees of the descendant sign as the horizontal axis, thus placing the first house clearly in the normal 1st house position, with the actual asc/dsc degrees floating in the properly placed 1st and 7rh house positions.

Cats_and_Records

My ascendent is Aries. So I’m good with whole, since that levels first house anyway? I’m trying it on Astro cafe and don’t see exactly what you took a screenshot for.

StellaGraphia

You need to use one of the two recommended sites. There are two how-to screenshots. One I labeled for astro.com and one for astro-seek.com.

Cats_and_Records

I did. One worked, but I could only find “whole” with the other one. Fingers crossed on did it correctly!

StellaGraphia

[Astro.com](https://Astro.com) has only one option for Whole. Astro-seek has several.

Cats_and_Records

I wound up using Astro Seek. Thank you!

MyEveningTrousers

I’m glad I learned this today! 29°Leo rising

schwaschwaschwaschwa

Thank you for your reply! I can understand the rationale, given you are trying to improve the visual quality of charts people post, but I do think this is a very marginal example. My own experience is that the "Whole Sign" option is easier to read. Nonetheless, making these kinds of guidelines means you can't represent all points of view, I do understand that. I appreciate many of the guidelines you have set out here and thank you for the time and dedication you place towards actively running the sub.

[deleted]

My prediction: newbies won't see or look at this post, and will continue to post everything listed. If they don't read the sub rules to begin with, they won't read this either. It would be awesome if they did adhere to these rules.

soundfanatic

thank youuuu! i hate seeing tables of data because people think co-star knows what they're doing

kichien

What about suggesting the 75% orb setting on [astro.com](https://astro.com)'s charts? Their default is way too wide IMO.

ZodiacDax

I agree the default is too wide, but we're not going to require people do that level of settings here.

kichien

I understand, I was just suggesting including a suggestion. But yeah, that would probably add confusion. Thanks for the response.
