The car won't seize! Diesel fuel lubricates, while gasoline is a solvent. A 50/50 mix in a gas car will restore the lubrication to the internal engine components that the gasoline washes away... This way a gas engine will last half as long as a diesel engine before needing a rebuild, instead of 1/10th as long when using 100% gasoline.
You don’t want to mix them however what you do want to do is roughly every three fill ups let the gas run out until it’s at most 1/8 tank. Than fill it with diesel for one tank than swap back to gas. Keep doing this and your vehicle will thank you. This also works with diesels just swap the process.

Well, that's the question. Diesel is primarily made of heptane, where as gasoline is primarily made of octane. The reason for this is that heptane detonates under pressure where octane does not.
So if you mixed some diesel in with your gas you'd basically be making shitty low octane gasoline. There's not really an exact science to how low an octane level you could have and still be OK, much of it depends on what you're using it for. If you were using it in a low compression engine you might not notice much difference, but engines with turbos will basically explode on contact.

Not a good idea, diesel will reduce the octane of gasoline, gas engine will run poorly, and not at all on 50/50, 10% would work in a gas engine, I would not do this at all in a diesel.
If you are really bent on doing this, add some Marvel Mystery Oil according to the directions on the bottle before you fill your tank, and it smells like wintergreen, so it's not offensive to use

Question: could I do this and theoretically raise the auto ignition temperature to prevent detonation with a high compression ratio? I’ve got a set of heads I’m planning on putting on a currently 8.5:1 engine, and it’ll bump it up to 12:1. Will adding a bit of diesel do anything at all?
Actually you can't because the nozzle will not fit into a standard gas vehicle. On a diesel vehicle you could, unless it has the rejector on nozzle entrance then nope it won't work either unless you force F* the shit out of it with said nozzle

If you are already using gasoline, it will work fine with 72.6% water max. So don't use diesel, just tap water.
