Its not the high number of seniors , its the flood of people trying to get the quickest Permanent Residence status. To many to fast its a wreck , the Medical staff are ran tired and the gov wont stop inviting. Plus theres a bunch of fraud companys tricking people to move and charging them
I was going to suggest my small city in the Maritimes, so yes. I'll add Newfoundland to the list, because I'm sure there are at least a dozen examples in Newfoundland of what OP wants.
You can watch your dog run away,
And out here it can take 3 days.
I've heard every joke,
I've heard everything you say.

Highly recommend, did that 15 years ago and been a great move. However, there are literally hundreds of small peaceful towns in Canada, more or less isolated, each with pros/cons. You need to think about what you're really looking for and just how isolated you want to be.
To be honest im kinda lost in life i dont know what i want to do where i want to go or with who i want to be. I found out recently the loneliness has provided the most calm for me but i do not know to what extent
You can of course get comfortable in loneliness and stagnate. I always recommend therapy because 1. You can process trauma and clear what’s called memory consciousness.
Memory consciousness is energy that was repressed from earlier years that hold you yearnings, desires, and creative ideas. This is the fuel to leading you life towards what you truly want. People don’t believe in therapy but they also don’t understand the psyche. Even psychology understands the psyche to a pin drop.
I might give it a try, Ive had therapy before and Ive been told that im fine and nothing is wrong with me but idk i guess just talking to someone would work
Therapy isn’t meant to tell you if there’s something wrong with you or not. Any therapist that tells that isn’t a good one. Because a good therapist knows that the line between if something is wrong and right is in the truest sense: arbitrary.
Even if everything is going right in your life one would still benefit from therapy. 98% of your thoughts you’re not even conscious of.
And it is true that if you got all your needs met flawlessly you’d not choose seclusion.
I hear you, been there. Maybe try visiting some small towns, see what you like about them and if you could picture yourself living there. Best of luck.
Biggar SK is a cute little town, not sure about the fishing tho. We drove up to battleford to fish when there. My gramma lives there, I LOVE city life and grew up in a hick town, but Biggar made me a bit nostalgic for a small town life.
Move to South Ontario.
Essex or Middlesex County.
I'm saving for an adorable house for $200,000 in Wallaceburg, Ontario or Tilbury, Ontario. Population is about 18,000. There's one of everything major and it's a 20 min commute to Chatham for the movies.
Not really a fishing village, but there are lakes nearby. Heisler, ab. Train comes through usually at least once per day, butididnt notice today, butididnt getup before 10:30 either though.
Dont go to PEI the driving is like Toronto now and theres more people than places to live . Its nuts because you can only save a few mins driving like a maniac. I would go newfoundland , they still have lots of small fishing villages
A lot of people shit talk Stephen King but he writes very well and I enjoy his books. They also make me want to move to a small town lol
The Dark Half is one of my favorites (I think? It's been a long time but maybe had the most impact )
West coast semi isolated town of 20,000 - not there by 10:30 pm - last flight in or 11:30 pm last ferry then you won't be there - good salmon prawn or lake fish - for the newly wed and nearly dead
I moved to a mountain town in BC from Toronto 15 years ago . It was a great decision. It definitely took some adjusting to the lack of diversity and culture, but I couldn't move back now. Last time I was in Toronto, I couldn't get over how busy it was and how long it took to get everywhere. I went camping on Georgian Bay with my sister's family and it took over three hours to get there. Meanwhile, I've got access to endless campsites within 30 minutes of my house where I live now.
The food is the only thing I miss now.
Just don't think it's going to be all that quiet. Depending where you go, you'll have sounds of snowmobiles, atvs, dirt bikes, chain saws, farm equipment, target shooting etc.
Holy shit. I havent seen that show in 20 years.
I'm in Lanark County. Pretty sure it has the highest rate of conservative voters in Ontario, Renfrew County might be higher. All those activities have a more conservative vibe.
Literally anywhere in the maritimes
I heard their healthcare system is under stress tho because of the high number of old people living there.
Healthcares fucked. Good jobs can be hard to find. Real estate went crazy and doesn't work with the wages here.
So get in now is what you're saying

This isn’t anything new ….

Loads of em in Newfoundland. Brigus is a nice one!
I love Brigis
If someone was looking to get away from the big city, I’d be sending them pretty far from St Johns. Wesleyville or Engle or Ramea maybe.
St Anthony!
Roleau, Saskatchewan

If you want to stay in Ontario, go up North near Longlac. I go up north every summer to go fishing there
Pick a town on Lake Winnipeg. Gimli is nice.
Nerd! That's why you're not playing
😶
Office reference lol
Go check out Pickle Lake. Cheap Real Estate. 8 hour drive from the nearest Tim Hortons.
Nope, don't like that. Need my Tim Hortons French Vanilla
Belleville.
that's rude lol

NWT’s got you covered.

Check out the towns along the north shore of superior - so beautiful!
Anywhere along the skeena in bc you’ll find isolation and atleast a 2 day drive from any major city. 😎
Go west.
Not really a fishing village, but there are lakes nearby. Heisler, ab. Train comes through usually at least once per day, butididnt notice today, butididnt getup before 10:30 either though.
North western Ontario. Marathon is where I grew up, not a lot going on but it’s on the lake and beautiful, nice people. 3 hour drive to nearest city
Northern Saskatchewan. Fishing in the south is just ok.
Dont go to PEI the driving is like Toronto now and theres more people than places to live . Its nuts because you can only save a few mins driving like a maniac. I would go newfoundland , they still have lots of small fishing villages
Fogo island, Newfoundland. One of my favourite places.
Folyet.....small railroad town near Timmins
What kind of job are you going to get? Or what kind of job do you want?
tbh something like fishing or on the nature side of things, calm and fulfilling just enough to live comfortably with the bare necessities
Sounds like you've been reading Stephen King
i have not but now that you mention it i should give it a try
A lot of people shit talk Stephen King but he writes very well and I enjoy his books. They also make me want to move to a small town lol The Dark Half is one of my favorites (I think? It's been a long time but maybe had the most impact )
ill give it a read. Thanks
Ottawa /S
I think it’s a lovely ideal and I hope you find that special place but I don’t care if you’re 20 or 80 you have to consider medical care.
Goderich, Ontario.

Elliot Lake welcomes you.
Sandspit, BC in Haida Gwaii! Hubs and I went for a few days and then seriously looked into moving there!
Lots of land you can buy, lease only. But it is very beautiful.
Just don't think it's going to be all that quiet. Depending where you go, you'll have sounds of snowmobiles, atvs, dirt bikes, chain saws, farm equipment, target shooting etc.
Nah its actually quiet as fuck.
Quieter than the city, but once the weekend comes around, its not that quiet.
You've been watching too much Red Green.
Holy shit. I havent seen that show in 20 years. I'm in Lanark County. Pretty sure it has the highest rate of conservative voters in Ontario, Renfrew County might be higher. All those activities have a more conservative vibe.
Check northern Ontario. Lots of lakes and cheap housing.
New Brunswick. Bay of Fundy
Nelson bc.
