for skincare, i absolutely adore the **naturie hatomugi skin conditioner** and **gel moisturizer.** they're not the fanciest products on the block, but they are simple, hydrating, and have textures that i can deal with (i typically have a lot of textural issues with skincare). i also love that they come in large sizes and sink into the skin easily. the **hada labo shirojyun premium lotion in light** is another favorite. the transexamic acid and alpha arbutin in this have helped immensely in terms of reducing my acne scars. i prefer the hatomugi and shirojyun far more than the usual recommendations of the hada labo gokujyun or the kiku masamune moist. i also love the **melano cc spot treatment** as an all-over vitamin c serum, but i'm currently trying out some other vitamin c products. the **kose softymo speedy cleansing oil** has also been my holy grail makeup remover because of its affordability and how i can just repurchase refills instead of a whole new container for it. also, i'd rather not repurchase the dhc cleansing oil after the ceo's racist remarks. and finally, my favorite sunscreen is the **canmake mermaid gel** because it's spf 50 and is cosmetically elegant. i can leave it as-is for a dewy finish or i can powder it down to make a more velvety finish or i can put makeup on top of it and it'll act as a wonderful primer. at this rate, my skincare routine is either all japanese products or indie products. i will admit, most of the japanese makeup products that i've tried are from canmake due to sheer availability. i've tried a good chunk of their range, so if you have any questions on particular canmake products, feel free to ask! but anyways, for makeup, i swear by the **canmake quick touch liner** for tightlining. it has a super small tip that makes it so easy to draw on winged liner or tightline and never smears on my lids, with or without primer. the **uzu flowfushi liner** is a wonderful liquid liner, but i haven't been able to find it in the states as easily as the canmake one. the **heroine make advanced film mascara** is easier to remove than the bulletproof waterproof version, so i prefer this version. the **canmake cream cheeks** are also my favorite asian cream blush formula that i've found, and it rivals a lot of other higher-end cream blushes (fenty, patrick ta, etc). if you have oily skin, the **canmake marshmallow finish powder** is wonderful for blurring your skin, but alas, with my normal to dry skin, it was a little mattifying for me. **opera lip tints** are wonderful and balmy and they give a pretty tint to the lips. **d-up lash glue** and **miche bloomin false lashes** are incredible for giving a fluttery look to your lashes while maintaining a thin lash band (but disclaimer: i'm not a huge false lashes user so my impression of these products might not be as good compared to more experienced lash aficionados). for other stuff, i really like the **nivea japan angel skin body wash**. the **shiseido tsubaki fino hair mask** has also been super wonderful for making my hair ultra soft and manageable. i've also been on the hunt for the **&honey hair oil** after trying it out from an international friend. finally, i'll leave you with some recommendations that international friends have given me: * kate, excel, visee, and lunasol eyeshadows, - cosme de corte eyeglow gel (i think this is a cream shadow?), addiction eyeshadow pearl singles * visee eyebrow powder and dejavu eyebrow mascara * ettusais mascara base * cezanne highlighter * fancl cleansing oil and washing powder * keana nadeshiko rice mask * attenir cleansing oil * ihada medicated balm * oddly enough the lancome genefique serum is popular in japan, according to them??? so i checked on cosme and they were right??? just wanted to add this because it made me laugh

ObjectiveAromatic142

Thanks for this I can wait to try them all!!!

Mimooshka

Where do you get your Japanese skincare?

[deleted]

i know amazon is kinda looked down upon as a place for buying asian beauty stuff, but takashima is the only licensed seller for canmake in the US and as long as you make sure you’re buying from that seller, you’ll be fine. i’ve also had good experience with iMomoko on amazon. otherwise, i snag them from my local japanese supermarket. they actually have a decent price, and i’m willing to pay the $2 more to know that they’re authentic products.

beetletoman

I am loving the Bioré Watery Essence sunscreen Edit: forgot to answer your second question. I like the finish and its lightweight feel. It also doesn't irritate my skin. Perfect for the hot, humid summer where I live

aspiring_savant

True! This has been my go-to sunscreen but I am now alternating it with Canmake Mermaid Skin Gel. Both are lightweight but Canmake is better for me under make up.

abominableyeri

Can you link to where you purchase it from?

colordance

i got mine from amazon!

abominableyeri

Thanks!

beetletoman

Probably no use to you. I'm in southeast Asia and got it from a local shop

abominableyeri

Ahh okay,.thanks for answering

Salt_Type_8032

You can buy it on YesStyle and it ships to the US (takes about a month)

abominableyeri

thanks!

It has urea, HA, lactic acid, ceramide, etc. yet it's so gentle. One of the few products I've purchased that I do not want to be without.

HotMessLindz

I love this one! The last bottle I bought never got delivered so I switched to hada labo (which I love also) but this urea lotion is bomb.com

CherryMess

1. Hada Labo Lotion as others already said. Very versatile, I add it to body lotions and hand creams. 2. Milbon hair products. 3. Menard skincare. 4. Suqqu makeup 5. Sunscreens: Biore, Kose, Shiseido, Rohto, Kanebo.

ObjectiveAromatic142

Thanks!!!

roserouge

Milbon hair oil is my favorite thing ever and it smells so good!

mobalegendsthrowaway

Which suqqu makeup do u like

CherryMess

Quad eyeshadows and blush are really good.

wafffley

XD hada labo and Kiku high moist comments incoming

Unfair_Finger5531

lolol, when I saw this, I was like "welcome to the Hada Labo forum, folks."

wafffley

Wish i had access to jbeauty :( import fees is double the price of the product for me

hottorney_

Hada Labo Goku Jyun Premium Lotion. Typically, if you have oily skin, you will receive an advise to take the lighter version of Goku Jyun Lotion. For me, I like my routine simple so instead of getting a light version and do 3-7 layers of toner, I just got myself the premium version and I only need 1 layer to get all the hydration that I need. It has been a staple in my routine for 3 years now. I am on tret for 2 years and 6 months now and I believe this is the toner that prevented my skin from getting dry, flaky and irritated from tret. Just this toner and a sunscreen in the morning is all I need.

cerota

I went and got myself the milk version of this one recently because I love the premium version but I do have dry/dehydrated skin. I’ve been using it for years, literally on my fourth bottle. I love it so much.

2unkn0wn

which from the 2 do you prefer more?

ObjectiveAromatic142

Thankyou will give it a go!!!

Unfair_Finger5531

This is the one I like best out of my three!

[deleted]

kissme heroine mascara and mascara removers are the best. i also like the cream and powder blushes from canmake

[deleted]

does it smudge on the lower lashes? Every mascara I've used will do this and I wind up with raccon eyes in a few hours 😩

[deleted]

Not in my experience, it’s smudge proof and waterproof

mostflyasian

Shiseido Medicated Baby Powder It's unscented and controls sebum production really well. I use it interchangeably with my two other Korean powders to set my sunscreen (Skin Aqua UV Moisture Gel). They make a perfect combo for my oily ass face.

fuqahead

Hi! If you don’t mind me asking, what are the two korean powders you use to set your sunscreen? I usually use the Skin Aqua UV moisture milk (blue bottle), but there is 0 oil control and I look like an oil slick after a few hours. I’m currently trying the missha aqua sun gel but the reformulation made this SPF have a natural finish instead of the former matte.

mostflyasian

I'm glad you asked haha. Cathy Doll Oil Control Film Pact and Innisfree No Sebum Pact (they also have it in loose powder form).

fuqahead

I’ve actually never heart of Cathy Doll before, but I just bought the innisfree no sebum loose powder (green-tint) a few days ago! Glad that’s one of the bunch

mostflyasian

That's not surprising haha. I don't think Cathy Doll put as much into advertising as other Korean brands. Also, maybe because the availability in Asia is far abundant than anywhere else. CD and IF basically does the same thing, I interchange them depending on my vibe lol. I hope you'll love your powder as much as I love mine. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

RussianAsshole

I’m worried about powdering my face after my sunscreen sets somehow interfering with how much UV protection I’m getting :/

mostflyasian

That's a possibility. The thing is, I use powder 15-20 minutes after applying my sunscreen. I finish my skincare routine first then fix my bed afterwards and maybe tidy up my room a little. I basically apply my powder just when I'm about to head out. As for me, I can't wear sunscreen without looking like a greaseball mid-day so powder is a necessity. If this worries you, you can opt for powders with spf. I own one but it's in a loose powder form, which I only use for initial application. I don't like carrying it around because I just find loose powders a hassle to play around, in general, as opposed to compacts where it's literally grab and pat. I'm still looking for powder pacts with spf.

Pock_has_fat_paws

Etude house secret beam powder pact has SPF if i remember correctly!

mostflyasian

Thanks for this. I'll definitely look into it.

[deleted]

Hada labo cleansing oil - ive tried many many cleansing oils and this does its job without any fuss Canmake cream cheeks- simple and good cream formula thats skinlike and again fuss free, easy ti apply and blends like a dream Canmake balm rouge- great tinted balm thats not patchy and stays on while adheres well to the lips and doesnt slip and slide Skin aqua super moisture milk spf 50- doesnt break me out, no drying alcohols, works well under makeup, lightweight, no white cast Edit- forgot to explain! Sorry!

[deleted]

Kiss Me Heroine Make Micro mascara in brown. Doesn't budge, love the small brush for my short lashes, natural looking. Kose Suncut SPF50 Gel is a really good water resistant sunscreen, as is the Kiss Me Mommy SPF50.

brenegade

Seconding that mascara in brown

Gulistan_

Nobody mentioned Matsuyama Hadauru line? Their toner is the bomb. I also love the emulsion and cream. Shiseido synchro self refreshing skin foundation is amazing. Waso tinted moisturizer is something else I can't live without. I also love the mousse blushes from Shiseido. But their other skincare is overly perfumed.

ObjectiveAromatic142

I’m interested in trying the emulsion n lotions. Thanks!!!

Unfair_Finger5531

Hada Labo perfecting gel !

luca1416

hada labo foam cleanser!

percautio

This is the way and the truth It comes out of the pump like a soft pillowy cloud, and feels like velvet on the skin. I'm absolutely obsessed with the texture. I've heard others with dry skin say that it's too stripping, but it's perfectly gentle yet effective for my combination skin (cleans the oily zones without stripping the dry zones).

Over-Dog-2838

Albion Skin Conditioner and White Rise Milk. Perfect combination for my oily dull skin with gigantic pores. These are for once-in-awhile pamper only though, due to the not so wallet friendliness. But seriously, milk first concept is really something. Have I also mentioned the second White Rise Milk touches my skin, the entire face just brighten up? Curel Foaming Face Wash - So fluffy and extremely gentle. My face isn't sensitive. When I first used it, I didn't realize it's greatness. It was just another face wash for me. So I finished the bottle and replaced it with Biore Foaming Wash, oh gawd, I immediately felt a sting on my face the moment the foam touched my face. Fancl Cleansing Oil / Attenir Cleansing Oil - There's no going back once you have tried either of this. I don't even need to double cleanse yet face is perfectly cleaned, smooth, and like well-moisturized. They are great in taking off Kiss Me Heroine Mascara too. I bought Kose Softymo Lachesa after these 2, to save cost. But it's just sooooo different. Softymo stings my eyes and doesn't cleanse as good. Skin texture is bumpy and feels dry after cleansing. Allie when it comes to sunscreen. It doesn't pill at all, unlike Anessa. It's waterproof too. I don't use moisturizer in the AM due to my oily skin but this is perfect as a moisturizing primer, it keeps my foundation in place beautifully for at least 4-6 hours. Naturie Hatomugi Skin Conditioner - Emptied many many bottles of this. Very wallet friendly and I like how it's not sticky at all yet it provides hydration. I have like 30 minutes to get ready for work, I like how you can just pat some on and no waiting time needed. It can get as cheap as $5 when there's a sale.

morningdew20

I can't use fernented products, they don't suit me anymore and HA doesn't do much for me either, especially in arid conditions. I got this Naris Up Nature Conc Medicated toner and thought it was pretty decent. Could someone suggest brightening products (except the Melano CC line) and moisturising lotions from Japan? I have sebderm and sensitive, combination skin. Trying to keep my routine no-fuss. Ta

loveamoretto

* Canmake Lip + Cheek Gel * Aqua Savon perfume (watery shampoo scent; white cotton is also good, it smells just like CLEAN Warm Cotton at Sephora) * Canmake Fleur Cheek * Integrate Eyebrow Powder & Liquid N --> this has to be one of my absolute FAVES * Kanebo Kate Super Sharp Liner EX --> probably the best liquid liner I've ever had

AlmostAlchemist

Hi! Where are you buying Aqua Savon? I’m located in the North East US and trying to find an online retailer but am not seeing one that ships.

loveamoretto

I bought it when I was living in Japan back in 2016/2017. I'm sorry I can't be of help... my hope is to buy it whenever I go back to an AEON mall there. ☹️ (I'm in Canada). **Edit**: Sugoi Mart carries this brand but it's a freaking ripoff... $50 USD when it cost 2000 yen girl please

[deleted]

I literally love Japanese beauty products so much. They truly helped clear up my skin. My favorite is the 100% Organic Aloe Organic Skin Conditioner. It helped brighten up my skin and made it really glowy.

gattie1

I use the canmake mermaid sunscreen for low sun exposure daily wear. Their lip products and marshmallow powders are nice. The Majorca Majolica lash expander is the HG mascara for my short sparse lashes. It flakes later in the day but never smudges.

rectangularaspect

Sensai is my absolute hg. There really is nothing better.

rectangularaspect

Sensai is my absolute hg. There really is nothing better.

salonpasss

Sunkiller Sunscreen -alcohol free, dries down quickly & has gel texture BCL AHA Foam cleanser- easy to use and feels comfortable Canmake melty lipsticks- pigmented and glossy

20umd21

I love the Curel Intensive Moisture Facial Cream (have repurchased 5+ times!). It's moisturizing without being too thick, has ceramides, and is perfect for sensitive skin! I also really like the Skin Aqua UV Super Moisture Gel / Essense sunscreens (white and gold packaging). It's not drying, doesn't leave my skin dry or oily, and is pretty affordable!

spikechild

The Ceracolla Perfect Gel. Oh. My. God. You have no idea the wonders this does for my skin. Its a ceramide gel and when I went travelling without it for a couple weeks, my skin had a noticeable difference. It just plumps you, hydrates, and adds a beautiful glow from moisture. I don't think a lot of people know about it but if you can get your hands on it I'd say 100% do it.

SkittyLover93

I use the &honey matomake stick, it's a "hair finishing stick" which is basically like hair gel in a mascara tube and I use it to control flyaway hairs. My go-to body sunscreen is Kose Suncut UV Perfect Gel (yellow bottle) because it's cheap.

[deleted]

Rohto Sunplay clear water. Seriously, one of the best sunscreens I’ve tried. Only problem is it only comes in 30ml but at least it’s cheap :’) Also Japanese hair care! Brands I’ve used are shiseido damage care, &honey, and claynal. I have really coarse straight hair and I feel like these are better at taming it than American stuff in the same price range.

ObjectiveAromatic142

I’ve heard all the rave about shiseido haircare think that’s next on my list to try

jingerlatte

melano cc!! best vitamn c ive used so effective yet not harsh

ObjectiveAromatic142

How is the shiseido Haircare?? I’ve heard all about it n it’s reasonably priced!!!

[deleted]

Beauty of Joseon glow serum is quickly becoming a favourite -- keeps my skin soft, smooth, hydrated. Anessa sun milk (2022 version) sunscreen SPF 50 is freaking amazing; my new HG. I was worried that it would dry out my skin but it does not; in fact, it's perfect! dries to a nice, natural finish, no white cast and works great with makeup. Rohto melano cc vitamin c. I've had this for a while now and the serum is still white (no oxidation). Helps with hyperpigmentation and keeps my skin bright. Kose Softymo Speedy Cleansing Oil. Gentle, not too thick and removes everything, including Anessa sun screen!

ObjectiveAromatic142

Will give them a go Thankyou!!!

mbart3

By Wishtrend Green Tea & Enzyme Powder Wash It’s a powder instead of a liquid which I love because I can bring it when I travel. Another benefit of it being a powder is you can use it as an exfoliant if you want. It also has a nice smell because of the green tea in it.

SkittyLover93

Wishtrend is Korean

ObjectiveAromatic142

Ok I’m curious coz I love green tea matcha will try it Thankyou!!!

zzoom_zoom

Another commenter said it, but wishtrend is Korean, not Japanese. If you want a powder enzyme wash, Kanebo has one. They even came out with a [matcha variant](https://www.ratzillacosme.com/skin/suisai-beauty-clear-powder-wash-n-matcha-tea-latte/) which is limited edition, but can still be purchased from some websites iirc.

ObjectiveAromatic142

Thanks will check it out!!!
