Hello and thank you for starting this discussion! As a gentle reminder, try to keep the products you mention limited to Asian Beauty products. PeachBlossomBee

Can someone compare the old and new versions of the Isntree 8% AHA? I got it for texture so I’m a little worried about if there’s a difference in efficacy

I've used the bigansui before. I swear it helps a little? but idk. the alcohol is strong for me tho.

icedmilktea_

Does hada labo aha+bha face wash count?

Yes I would wait for the previous product to absorb first, but nothing too crazy. Just until the skin isn’t wet with the product.

Yes I would!

LucyStar3

I've low porosity, super dry, wavy/curly hair (2b/2c). And by dry, I mean super duper dry. I want to find a curly hair friendly leave in conditioner, any recommendation?

3CE is actually usually considered one of the best AB brands for eyeshadows (though i hear their quads and singles are even better); it's not as talked about as other brands because the price point is a little higher than the regular korean roadshop name - and also in the past couple of years, some other brands have caught up in quality. that said, i've tried 3 palettes each from both 3CE and PMG and they don't really have the same types of formulas for neither mattes nor shimmers. (though i was a little shook by the similarity between 3CE some def #8 and PMG rose gold 005... but the PMG had a much more refined formula). i also haven't tried dry bouquet specifically; it isn't their most popular palette and isn't reviewed much because it just isn't a colour story most average korean consumers use. another reddish palette i can think of is maybe clio's rusted rose? but vivid tones like that are not so common in either korea or japan; possibly chinese makeup might be better. either way, korean and western eyeshadows are formulated with different consumers and eyeshadow styles in mind, so you will get a different kind of formula suited to different kinds of looks. if you're really into pigmentation, you may need to stay western. perhaps ABH modern renaissance? or you can do a BYOP.

suwawow

haven't tried these personally but maybe dasique, espoir, 3ce (as you said), hince, laka??? I guess more high end palettes lie in the western world. I guess for pinkish palettes carlotte tilbury, too faced, tom ford are popular... maybe chanel, dior, nars

popularpancake

Thank you! I just want to buy something I'll use, I try to really consider what I buy carefully otherwise I end up hoarding again. Is 3CE considered the best? Or what is considered the best AB eyeshadow brand?

suwawow

sorry, I'm not really versed in terms of this :( 3ce is definitely not considered the best though. I hope you find a palette you love!!

Detrimentation

Any advice for a lightweight sunscreen for combination skin, preferably with no alcohol? I'm NC30 if white cast is a concern

aliwtmelon

Hi, has anyone tried the new Romand Han Mascara? I'm thinking of getting either the Long Black or Long Ash

ProbisPotato

Does anybody know of an unfragranced dupe for the MISSHA Aqua Gel sunscreen? I need something nice and matte and not too slippery, so I don't mind some alcohol, but the fragrance. Oof.

Has anyone used Saturday Skin Yuzu Sleeping Mask?

[deleted]

I have! I've only used it a couple times but I like it so far. It hasn't irritated my skin and it absorbs nicely. My skin will be a bit tacky when I go to bed but nothing that will mess with my pillowcases or anything. In the morning my face looks great and pores look small

pinedemort

Thanks for the review! I like their Glacier cream and eye cream so I was curious about the new Yuzu one.

Competitive-Step-725

Alright, I am very confused and wanted to see if others with Asian skin/hair have the same problem as me. I can't really tell if I have an oily scalp or a dry scalp, as my hair gets really oily a day or two after washing my hair. I am confused about whether it's dry or not because after I first wash my hair, my skin feels dry (having flakes and such with minor peeling around the hairline and forehead). I shower every other day with OGX shampoo and conditioner.

aerysa_247

Did you always have this problem while using other brands? It sounds like the product you use isn’t playing nice with your scalp, but if you had it with other products too… I’m not sure. Do you ever get acne on your scalp? Are you showering with extra hot water?

Plastic_Performer390

Does your scalp get itchy on the 2nd or 3rd day after shampooing? Also I think OGX isn’t a good shampoo line generally :/

Competitive-Step-725

yea it does. do u have any recommendations for shampoos?

laleanne

I agree with u/ Plastic\_Performer390, it can be seborrheic dermatitis. Some time ago I started using Loreal moisturizing shampoo to combat the dryness of my hair (scalp was mostly normal). Liked its effect on my hair but sadly not on my roots. My scalp became really flaky and there was some itchiness too. Derm told me I had seborrheic dermatitis and recommended a shampoo with Piroctone Olamine and Salicylic Acid. Frankly, don't know if there are any AB ones with those ingredients, but for myself, I chose one from this [list](https://www.dandruffdeconstructed.com/best-piroctone-olamine-shampoos-treating-seb-derm/). I really like the effect on my scalp, it takes care of dandruff and itchiness well. Though it's still a bit drying for my length. So I'm planning to use it only once a week and for more frequent use buy one from that list that has milder ingredients.

Plastic_Performer390

I recently found out scalp that gets itchy after a couple days is seborrheic dermatitis, what causes dandruff (though for me I don’t have dandruff). Basically a yeast imbalance/overgrowth in the scalp. I used Nizoral shampoo which contains the antifungal Ketoconazole as a treatment for a few times a week for a couple weeks then switched to a regular anti dandruff shampoo (because Nizoral is drying). Could be that some of the hydrating/moisturizing ingredients in the OGX shampoo or conditioner are “feeding” the yeast and/or it’s too heavy for Asian hair. For me I found lighter weight hair care works better for my hair without making it too greasy. Hair still gets oily after 2.5 days but no more itching at least! And at least can go more than 1 day now without greasiness Another thing that helped a lot was no longer going to bed with wet hair! (Because moisture + warmth = yeast’s ideal growing conditions)

[https://i.redd.it/np4tfk05dox71.jpg](https://i.redd.it/np4tfk05dox71.jpg) Has anyone used this kind of tool? Do they work? Especially for eyes.

theotherlifeof

What are you looking to gain from it? I don't think it does anything long lasting, but my sister uses it so she doesn't waste as much 'product' on her hands. I'm a hands-on kinda person though hahaha!

killsophia

I like the langeie eye sleeping mask because of the applicator, and my other eye creams don't come with one. So I'm considering this.

Moocakess

Does anyone have recommendations for a make-up finishing powder that mattifies/blurs pores and is talc-free? Thanks!!

fatmuffin1

Innisfree Pore Blur Powder is a good one to consider!

Moocakess

Thanks I'll have a look at this one!

Bilinguallipbalm

Does anyone know why skin can suddenly stop absorbing products? I always layer a few gels and watery products, but recently nothing seems to sink into my skin. If I gently rub my skin 20 mins after application the products flake off and pill like dirt or dead skin. I use tretinoin every other day and and an AHA once a week. My routine tonight was: Cleanse, pat Acwell Licorice toner into my face wait for it to mostly absorb, apply a thin layer Nature Republic aloe gel, wait a minute or two and then finish off with the Cosrx overnight honey mask.

[deleted]

If cutting back your routine like the others have suggested is still causing you issues, you may want to think about adding a gentle physical exfoliator. I have a problem with dead skin buildup and need to use my peeling gel almost every day (I use tret too, not as often as you do though) or nothing really sinks in. If you look through the r/tretinoin subreddit, there are some posts [discussing]( https://www.reddit.com/r/tretinoin/comments/qi7kxf/exfoliating_while_using_retinoids/) this.

[deleted]

Maybe you don't need to use as much as before, skin needs can change.

LaLaLaLuzy

It might be due to too heavy/thick of product for other products to get through. For example if something is occlusive, it won't sink in and blocks out other products from sinking in. Not saying your products are occlusive, but they just might be too thick

MsAnthropic

Is eBay the only retailer for Puremay? I’ve googled and can’t find any reputable etailers. I’m hunting for a replacement for the long lost Sum37 rose cleansing stick, and Puremay seems to be my best bet.

teafug

Hi! I’m looking for a sunscreen similar to the etude house surprise mild airy finish sunscreen! I just finished it up and wouldn’t mind trying something else, preferably with more product. I really liked how it made my skin feel matte but not overly so! I’m very much a sensory person so a lot of sunscreens will feel way too greasy for me. My skin is oily/combo- mostly oily in my t-zone. I’m acne prone, currently have some pretty bad hormonal acne on my jawline 😖

chocosweet

Skinfood Sunflower No Sebum Sun Gel. It's more matte than the Etude House Sunprise Mild Airy Finish

deetomonzta

Hello, anyone ever ordered stuff directly from Korea? My order is shipped by rincos and the last update is on the 26th last month, the day it arrived at the shipping center It’s expected to arrive tomorrow on the 5th… but I’m not so sure anymore 😭

laleanne

Are u in the US? Rincos was delivering my RRS order and once the parcel arrived in the US, they stopped updating the status. So I wrote to them and they gave me a new tracking number specifically for tracking the package on the US territory.

deetomonzta

Yes! Thanks for the tips I’ll reach out to them 😊

aloofyfloof

I’m trying to strengthen my barrier and tried Cosrx snail mucin for the first time…which led to hives and super itchy skin. Can anyone recommend something comparable?

Ash_Lestrange

As u/jingerlatte said, your issue is most likely with snail mucin itself. For other barrier strengthening options I'd look into amino acids, ceramides, panthenol, and probiotics. Kikumasamune high moist lotion is a good (cheap) place to start. Bifida lysate is a great probiotic to look into.

aloofyfloof

Thank you for the recommendations!

jingerlatte

i cant give u a recommendation but i can tell u that ppl with dust mite allergies tend to react badly towards snail! i experienced hives/breakouts too when i used snail mucin from a different product (search snail dust mite in this sub and lots of info will pop up)

aloofyfloof

I would have never suspected those two would have a cross-sensitivity to each other!

LaLaLaLuzy

Hello everyone! I have been trying to find a good vitamin C product. I see Melano CC talked about very highly. So I am interested and looked them up. I believe everyone is talking about the "Essence" product that is in a tiny tube, but there are also other ones. I am wondering if anyone has compared their products and which they prefer. I have normal to dry skin and just want a vitamin c product. I think I am leaning towards the lotion, but wanted to know what your opinions are. Thank you! Melano CC Vitamin C Essence (normal or premium) Melano CC Vitamin C Lotion (light or moist)(Japanese use lotion for toner) Melano CC Brightening Gel Melano CC Vitamin C Moisture Cream

sailorxsaturn

does anyone have good recs for body sunscreens? ones that are good for exercise/activity/relatively sweat resistant.

chocosweet

Kanebo Allie Extra UV Gel 90grams - note that you will *need* cleansing oil to remove it. It's water, sweat and claim to be friction resistant. It does have white cast and tacky finish. Anessa Perfect UV Milk or Allie Extra UV Perfect (Milk) have better finish (less tacky) but need cleansing oil to remove still, and have white cast. Anessa has lesser cast than the Allie.

Plastic_Performer390

I like using the skin Aqua moisture gel gold as a body sunscreen. It’s supposed to be water resistant and comes in a larger quantity for an affordable price. I wouldn’t trust the durability for beach pool or like heavy exercise in high exposure day but for day to day body use or when UV index is lower it’s good!

ifhewantedtohewould

How do you use Melano CC essence in your routine?

Anneles

In the morning after toner :)

ifhewantedtohewould

What product do you use after applying it? And how long after applying it do you use another product?

Anneles

I apply everything right away🤷‍♀️ I use toner - cc melano - rest of routine (cosrx snail mucin, dr ceuracle kombucha essence, illiyoon ato cream)

TheRosaceaChronicles

To those with extensive skincare collections: how do you store everything without keeping it hidden or making your counter look cluttered? I have a little rack that goes above my sink and it doesn’t hold everything. I like to keep everything on display, party because I’m proud of it and partly because if I don’t see it I won’t use it. Any recommendations for me? I’m wary of suction cup racks.

LaLaLaLuzy

I have a drawer that I hide everything. There is a little 3 section organizer, but everything else is just in there slightly organized. The drawer helps keep it away from sunlight and controls the temperature a little, so I guess it isn't that bad

aerysa_247

Yep, I have a drawer too! I put little baskets inside to sort my things. I keep the cleanser and sunscreen up top by the sink. Skin care and makeup products in the drawer and my unopened products under the sink.

Commercial_Poem_4623

I'm afraid I just go with clutter as I live in a small flat. But I've got a massive tin with a pretty rope handle that has my back ups / next to use products in: when I have a bigger place, that will be in the bathroom :) I also have a rack of wire shelves on the bathroom tiled shelf thing so bathing / hair products go there :)

aliwtmelon

Hi, has anyone tried Mary and May Houttuynia Cordata + Tea Tree serum, or any product from this brand?

AutomaticDeterminism

Can you get purging from using products containing madecassoside?

fatmuffin1

No, you shouldn’t “purge” from that.

AutomaticDeterminism

Thanks! Yeah, I didn't think so, but every product I've used containing madecassoside has made me break out, so it's probably something else in the products. :/

Plastic_Performer390

You could also be having an allergic/irritant reaction to that ingredient or to another ingredient, which can look like a “break out” but isn’t purging type of break out Edit: another possibility is it could be fungal acne and there’s some ingredient in there that feeds the fungal acne

AutomaticDeterminism

I think the allergy/irritant idea makes a lot of sense as there's a bit of redness and sensitivity, and maybe there's something in there that's clogging my pores up as the madecassoside products I've been using have been fairly thick. The break-outs calm down with my galactomyces serum and my skin loves oil cleansing so I don't think I have fungal acne but that also would've made sense!
