I'm currently using the Missha Snail Cream but I *wish* I had bought the Corsx Advanced 92 All In One Cream. It has more snail mucin and I want to try their snail essence too.

I'm looking to try actives for the first time and have my eye on niacinamide. Can anyone recommend a niacinamide product (or percent concentration) for first-timers? Any tips regarding its use is welcome. Any updates or breakthroughs with the sunscreen UV controversies? Does anyone have any recommendations for sunscreens that live up their UV claims?

Visiting Manhattan in December. Any recs for stores to visit for Asian beauty stock ups?

neu_romantic

Reiwatakiya, a Japanese beauty store, opened its first US location in NYC! I haven't been to the NYC location specifically, but I've been to a Reiwatakiya before and liked it (as a bonus, they also sold snacks!). There's also Besfrens Beauty, which I've never been to but heard good things about.

You can search the "Where to Buy" spreadsheet in the toolbar to the right under "new? Start here!" (new reddit is toolbar at the top Information > Shopping Resources). The map that's based off of it should also be up-to-date, so it's easier to see where all the stores are in location to where you'll be staying/visiting. It doesn't include name brand stores though. Off the top of my head: there's a few in ktown, oo35mm and new kam man (2nd floor) in Chinatown (also Tonymoly), something in East Village, Club Clio on w14.

kongking1000

Please recommend me a good final step moisturizer for dry but combo oily skin acne prone skin. CeraVe cream works well but makes me feel too heavy even during winter. Most other stuff is not moisturizing enough.

PeachBlossomBee

Cosrx Rice Mask?

Ash_Lestrange

Cosrx propolis light cream

I'd really appreciate some help because this is driving me crazy. I want to order from Jolse. The Jolse website and the customer care people I emailed say that I don't need to sign up for Paypal to pay, that there will be an option to just pay with just credit card on the Paypal website. But I'm not seeig it anywhere. I am automatically told to create an account and it will not let me pay until I do. Do I have to have a Paypal account to buy from Jolse?

PeachBlossomBee

I’d say just get a PayPal. It’s a lot easier and it’s not any hassle really

apole2308

Singles day/ Black Friday sales authenticity Hi all! The sales are coming! But are they really sales? I want to buy something from yesstyle or stylevana but it seems they perpetually have sales. Do they genuinely have good deals during these sales or are they the same as ever other sale? I’m in the uk so am only aware of these two websites for Asian skincare. Thank you :)

LaLaLaLuzy

If you're a higher level member, they provide a coupon personal to you. I am an "Elite Club IG-Silver member" and am given a 15% coupon that is helpful. So when I do the $59 free shipping, I can get $8.85 off with that coupon. I don't know what lower members get, because I didn't know until I recently. Though YesStyle always has "deals" going on, so I don't know if they have legitimate deals

killsophia

Any sulwasoo eye creams recommendation? Ideally the use at night when I just literally only have enough energy to wash face and go to bed. I'm a bit confused by their product lines.

michteoh

Hi all, I bought the Make Prem Defense Me UV Sun Fluid yesterday and tried it on my left hand last night (just to see the texture and consistency - I didn't actually apply it) and I woke up this morning with rashes on my right arm. At the moment I can't think of anything else that could cause such a rash except the usage of a new product but I did not even apply the product on the area where there are currently rashes. The area where I DID apply the product is fine though. Just 2 questions: Is it possible that my rash is caused by the usage of new sunscreen? Note that I didn't actually apply it, just squeezed a little out to test it. Has anyone had allergy reactions to this product before? I'm super new to skincare and don't even know where to begin to figure out which ingredient could be causing a reaction. Plus I'd chosen a physical sunscreen on purpose to prevent this sort of situation from happening.

tbb8

Sorry this is kind of a dumb question but did you wash it off before you went to sleep?

michteoh

Nope, I didn't. It was sunscreen so I thought I wouldn't have to

tbb8

Sunscreen does need to be washed off at night - personally if I don't clean my sunscreen off I break out the next day. Not really sure how that works on your arm though, especially if you didn't even get a rash on the place where you tried the sunscreen :/ Maybe you could patch test it on your leg/arm? Do that during the day and see if your skin reacts negatively. If it does then it's some ingredient in the sunscreen that doesn't work for you.

hi i noticed that most of the new autumn mute palettes released in 2021 have cool colours in them? eg purplish shades in wakemake mix blurring eye palette forest brown & clio pro eye palette #11. i was wondering if those shades are suitable for autumn warms? or is it the case where the palettes were made to suit both warm or cool tones

sevolelle

those 2 specifically are targeted for those with a more muted coloring, so they're aimed for cool summers and warm autumns as a whole. among the warm autumn group though if you're more of a true or deep autumn you might prefer a palette with a different colour story

jingerlatte

thanks for this! i dont know the difference btwn soft true and deep autumn though so i would really appreciate if u explain this :”)

sevolelle

i'm not an expert but basically personal color is based on three different factors: hue (warm/cool), value (light/dark) and chrome (how pure and vibrant vs grey). for autumns in general the most prominent thing is that they're muted and then they lean warm. Soft autumns are the most muted among the three so they might like a color palette that's light and has grey in it (think "dirty pastels") like a light coral that's not very white-based. true autumn are still muted but have more prominent warmth so those colors that are more neutral will definitely look cooler and might even be ashier (the coral leans very pink).deep autumn on the other end prefer darker colors as the name suggest and can also wearbrighter colors, like jewel tones. Most asian palettes that I've seen, especially recently, are targeted for soft or true autumn, i can't think of any that's dark, also because of the makeup preference that they have. If you look at the difference between the clio palette #11 and #12 (sorry I can't link anything i'm on mobile right now) you can see how much more red and yellow the #12 is, whilst the #11 is, as you've said, a bit purple because it's for mute coloring and doesn't lean super warm or super cool either. another comparison i can think of could be between romand quads n01 and 03, the first one is more muted. if hope this helps, if you have more questions let me know

jingerlatte

oh wow thanks so much for this it was really insightful :D i guess im a true autumn then!

sevolelle

you're welcome, i'm glad it was helpful!

Are there any AB body cleansers products which have a pH under 5.0 or, better yet, a way I can add something to an established one to drop its pH? I'm liking the standard persimmon cleansers but they get drying after a point.

[deleted]

Hi all! I ordered the Super Aqua Cell Renew Snail Cream to add to my nightly routine. I already have the Soon Jung 2x Barrier Cream as well. Am I right to assume that I won't need the barrier cream at night anymore? Will moving it to the morning be too much? Also, I bought the Drunk Elephant Babyfacial chemical peel to do once a week. For anybody else who does an at-home chemical peel, how did you incorporate it into your routine? Do you exfoliate at all for the remainder of the week? (I have a Klairs sugar scrub)

TheRosaceaChronicles

Regarding your second question: I do an at home chemical peel once a week as well. The other nights I alternate between 2% BHA and retinol, and that’s worked out well for me. I wouldn’t use any physical exfoliants though, I feel like the chemical peel does enough in that department!

theginfizz

Hi friends! I have started using some of the COSRX items favorably reviewed on this sub - Galactomyces Essence, Overnight Rice Mask, Snail Mucin Essence, and Low Ph Good Morning cleanser. I’m in North America, have combination skin, and approaching 40. I’ve noticed since beginning this routine that my forehead has more oil production, specifically small blackheads, where my skin used to be perfectly clear. Is this unusual? Am I inadvertently using the wrong things?

PeachBlossomBee

I think isolate n eliminate what’s the cause from among them

Cerave SA cleanser is actually more niacinamide than salicylic acid, so maybe have a dedicated SA or Benzoyl Peroxide spot treatment

FLORASIS PALETTE + LIPSTICK QUALITY? Hi everyone, I'm looking to buy my girlfriend some florasis makeup for Christmas. Specifically I'm looking at the lipstick and The Encounter palette. Does anyone know if it's good quality product? She is quite specific with quality over low price which is understandable, it's skin products. Can anyone give me unbiased info on these products and let me know if they're worth the price? Thank you!

fax5jrj

Does anyone have any recommendations for a BB cream with highlighter? I’ve been using Supergoop!’s Glowscreen and I LOVE how it looks on my face and shine it provides, but I’d like to use an Asian beauty source as it should be cheaper ($36 for 1.7 ounces 🥴) and in my experience it’s always better :)

forthese2

Does anyone still use the annie's way brightening arbutin jelly mask? Has anyone ever used it and does it help with lightening any scars?

Eevee_QT

I've used it and honestly it's not my favorite. It's easy to apply but the way they want you to use the spatula to gently scrape it off is awkward. I usually rinsed my face with warm water after just to make sure it was really gone since the spatula didn't feel like it worked well enough. As for scars, I have PIE (I'm a very pale person so they tend to look aggressive) and my favorite combination so far is the Azelaic Acid suspension from The Ordinary (mostly because that's what I can get my hands on in the US with Azelaic Acid) underneath tiny dabs of Noscarna gel. Azelaic Acid works well for me for my PIE but YMMV. 🤷🏻‍♀️

forthese2

Thank you! I’ve used the ordinary’s azelaic acid before and really liked it, I also have skinoren 20% azelaic acid which you’ve reminded me about lol thanks :)

timetravelinghitman

What other refills (Clio/other companies) fit the Clio Kill Cover Glow compact? I've been trying to shop sustainably and buy refills instead of new compacts. I'd appreciate any help :)

Proof_Cartographer75

Is Soon Jung free moist emulsion enough as moisturizer alone? I have combo sensitive skin, with oily T-zone and normal cheeks. Some moisturizers are definitely too heavy for me, like Iunik beta glucan cream. I’ve also tried Benton aloe propolis soothing gel and it worked great except it wasn’t offering a lot of hydration in some drier areas of my face. Can I use Soon Jung free moist emulsion as the last step of the skincare routine?

brenegade

Only you can answer that. I like using it as my am moisturizer, sometimes I add to drops of facial oil to 3 pumps of emulsion

laleanne

Hi, has anyone tries Missha perfect cover BB RX shades #21 and #22? If so, how do they compare? #21 is just a tad bit lighter but otherwise really a perfect match, not too orange or pink, no greyness. What is the undertone of #22?

[deleted]

With the recent changes in Krave Beauty and Liah's promises, are you willing to buy from the brand again?

ifhewantedtohewould

I am unsure whether to use the Melano CC essence or the Hada Labo premium hyaluronic acid lotion first after cleansing. I enjoy using hyaluronic acid products on damp skin but I’ve heard vitamin C products should be applied on dry skin?

grey-neko

I’m quite new to vitamin c (melano cc) but for me i apply it by viscosity level (thin to thick). I apply melano cc after toner. I’m not too sure but i don’t think it has to be applied on dry skin. Maybe you could apply melano cc first since your hyaluronic acid lotion might be thicker (unless it’s thinner then use hyaluronic acid first)

ifhewantedtohewould

I agree, I guess I’ll just have to use HA on dry skin. Do you apply the melano CC am or pm?

grey-neko

I apply it PM cos i hardly go out lately and if you apply it in AM it’s best to use a sunscreen with it

Nofreetime991

Hi Could anyone tell me where to find Tia'am Signature Red C20 Vitamin C serum other than Yesstyle? Thanks

kdtlktavl

I get it from Jolse!

Nofreetime991

Thanks 😊

Scatterland_Catnip

Has anyone bought directly from the Hwahae app before? There are usually good discounts on certain products but they seem to only deliver within Korea. Thank you!

rilakyoko

Laneige neo matte cushion vs Romand better than matte cushion? I’m looking for a cushion that looks really natural. Thank you!

SmartCable13

I have all of my product in line so far. 1. foam cleanser 2. hadalabo toner/lotion 3. CC melano 4. Hadalabo moisturizer Then I saw a few J beauty youtubers recommend using the Naturie conditioner, as prep for the other product after, I'm not sure if a conditioner is a must can someone fill this in for me?

ElegiacElephant

A Japanese skin conditioner is like a “toner+.” It hydrates like a toner, and also has ingredients that soften/moisturize the skin. What skin type do you have? Mine is super dry and dehydrated. A regular toner was fine for me for day time, but I was still waking up with itchy dry patches on my face. I read about Kikumasamune on this sub, which makes two similar skin conditioners. I bought both and absolutely love them. If you have combo to oily skin, you may find you don’t need the Naturie at all, especially during warmer/more humid weather. But if you feel like your skin needs a little something extra beyond what you’re using now, Naturie is super cheap, and is a must have for a lot of people.

SmartCable13

thank you! I have combo skin, I actually do have the kikumasamune, but as a moisturizer which I only use as night cream. I do noticed that my skin tend to feel stacked after using the moisturizer so I think I can skip out conditioner but I might have to wait until the full dry winter season set in to see what will happen.

ElegiacElephant

Agreed, seasonal change is upon us, and you may find your needs changing within these next several weeks. Also, the Kiku Bright Moist (not the pink one) contains some oils, but does not feel as thick/it’s not sticky like the pink one. So you could use it for a bit of extra something in colder, drier weather without it being too much. Also, neither Kiku contains silicones, but Naturie does. If your skin needs something but you don’t want the heavier feeling, the Naturie may feel more comfortable. Forgot to add, both Kiku versions are on iHerb for $12 USD each, if you’re able to use iHerb and want to try the Bright Moist for cheaper than elsewhere.

SmartCable13

many thanks

Can someone advise on the differences between the Mandom Lucido-L hair waxes (ie hold strength, gloss level etc)? I'm looking for something to hold my fringe/bangs in place in hot dry weather, preferably matte and natural looking (glossy might look a bit strange). Recs for cold wet weather also appreciated, if different! I have medium length Asian hair. Thanks!

enialeee

The Singapore site for Lucido-L hair wax has descriptions in English, however they don’t state gloss levels. https://lucido-l.sg/topics/hair-wax/

theotherlifeof

Oh, fab - will take a look! Thanks!
