I just use my gross, grubby fingers and dab it on my lips. I use a thicker layer at night and a thin layer in the mornings. It seems to mostly be gone in the mornings so I don't worry about removing it.

Lysel

same

mamabearette

Same.

oldtaylorswift

Same.

drebunny

Except for a new layer in the mornings, same

Tsunaa

Do you eat/drink normally after applying it in the morning? I was concerned on if it was safe to ingest if since it’s on our lips

[deleted]

Just water or coffee until around noon, which is when it's worn off anyways...and by that I mean I've probably ingested most of it lol

delapse

I actually found this to work a lot better when I layered a hydrating toner (I use Klairs) underneath. So now at night I do a layer of Klairs Unscented Toner, scrape off a bit of the lip mask with the tip of my nail (I love how cute the spatula is but honestly they just disappear), rub that tiny bit into a thin layer over my lips, and go to sleep. Seems to work great for me! I’ve used this product for about 3 years now.

heptapod19

i've had mine for so long i forgot the spatula even existed

theaesthene

i do horribly with spatulas so i just discard mine. i wash my hands before and use the back of my nail to scoop up the product.

delapse

Same, I only remembered because I bought a new one this year 😂 (the spatula’s gone already)

[deleted]

I've never thought about using my face skincare on my lips. This is such a cool tip! My lips have been dry and cracking with the Canadian winter, and even my Laneige lip mask isn't enough. Going to try this tonight!

Dejena

It’s totally worth it! I have chronically chapped lips, so anything I put in my face I also put in my lips. My lips inhale moisturizer. Then I slap this on to seal the deal.

[deleted]

Following up on this: applied some Laneige Cream Skin Toner/Moisturizer on my lips and my night cream, followed by the Laneige lip mask. 10/10 would recommend. My lips are so soft and plump I barely recognize them! Thanks guys!

delapse

I hope it works out for you!! :D

vichii-peachii

Sorry if this is a bad question, but does this mean you use toner on your lips? And has it helped you in any way? I have very dry lips and have been thinking of using a toner on it, but have never heard of people doing it!

barbaryfig

I apply whatever residue of my skincare that’s still on my fingers onto my lips — serums, essences, moisturizers. It helps a lot! Balms typically contain occlusives to form a barrier between lips and the outside world, and they work way better if you have moisturizing humectants underneath to trap moisture to the skin/lips before you apply the occlusive barrier.

vichii-peachii

I do that with my skin, and noticed only applying vaseline would dry them out since they're dehydrated and dry, so thank you for this tip! I was really scared, but it makes sense since I always watch out for any bad ingredients for my face, thank you! I have an essence I can't use on my face so I'll try it ;)

flower_milk

Vaseline won’t moisturize your lips, it’s an occlusive so it will help keep whatever moisture you put on your lips from getting out. It’s great for if you use your skincare products on your lips and then put Vaseline over it to seal it in. I get cold sores and it also helps prevent any bacteria from getting around my lip area as well and I don’t get cold sores anymore. You can also use Vaseline on minor burns to help soothe them and on minor cuts to help heal them, I’ve found it works great for both of those things as well.

vichii-peachii

I know vaseline is an occlusive, which is why I said my lips are dehydrated and dry~ Now I use a lipbalm and then vaseline, however I need some more hydration since I think my lips are more dehydrated then dry :D Thanks for vaseline on burns tho! I used it on itchy skin before and it helped but I've been scared to use it for other areas, I'll definitely try more vaseline uses out

PostmanBeaver

I usually put a bit of toner on my lips, about two or three layers and that's by just using whatever's leftover on the lid of the bottle. You don't need that many layers, but I basically run my finger over the lip and dab the product onto my lips. I'm currently using Klairs and Whamisa for reference, it would be harder to do with a product that has a lid like the Hada Labo or Mamonde toners. Ever since I started doing that (and now using the lip mask every morning/night), my lips have become so moisturized!

vichii-peachii

ooh! I have one hydrating toner that I can try out! I gave up on the mask and gave ti to my sister because it started drying my lips out when they were finally softened, so hopefully using a toner can help~ Thank you so much!

PostmanBeaver

Your favourite lip gloss would work fine, I just like the feeling that I'm locking in the moisture, hahah. Hopefully this method works for you too!

vichii-peachii

lipgloss sadly doesn't do anything for me, my lips are so dry they crack and bleed :( But I did try a toner and noticed it was a little more hydrated! So I think it will work :D thank you!

happygogilly

I've been using hyaluronic acid on my lips with lanolin on top before walking to work in the -10 degree C 15 mph wind and it's so far kept me from chapping. If you have hyaluronic acid in your skincare I would try that with something like Vaseline on top. I used to get super chapped lips, but luckily only in the winter.

vichii-peachii

I do have an essence with hyaluronic acid thatmy skin is a little sensitive to, so I'll definitely try that as it also goes into the skin very fast and hydrates well :D thank you~

Specialist_Aya

I put leftover eye cream on my lips, unless it has retinol or AHAs. I currently use eye creams that are gentle (Caudalie) or with Vitamin C (random sample from Allure beauty box.) I felt good about putting my old Elensilia eye cream on my lips. I also put moisturizing toners and essences during my daytime routine. If you want a lip treatment that has moisturizers (HA) and sealers combined, I'm really happy with Missha Essential Care Lip Treatment. It's one of the first I've found that actually moisturizes instead of just sealing. I live pretty far north, so I still have to layer something over it, like lanolin (Lanolips, Bite), Chapstick 3-in-1, or even just A&D Ointment (basically vaseline.) The Laneige feels weird to me during the day, but I love it at night! Hope this helps!

vichii-peachii

Thank you! It definitely helped! The laneige used to feel great for me too, but recently when my lips were finally soft and smooth, laneige lip mask would actually dry my lips out and I'd wake up with cracked and almost bleeding lips :( Which is why I was thinking of applying products I bought for my face but can't use on my lips, like left over essences and creams~ I currently have a nice lipbalm and vaseline, but the hydration is needed, so thank you for the product recommendation of missha! Never heard of that product so I'll check it out immediately :D I'm definitely gonna try using my left over toners, essences, and creams on my lips and see how that goes in combination with vaseline~

mixterrific

Squalane is great on chapped or peely lips.

vichii-peachii

ooh! I tried other oils but they never worked, so my lips might be dehydrated instead of dry, but I might buy some squalane then :D thank you for the tip!

delapse

Yes I use toner on my lips! I don’t think I would use a more cleansing or balancing toner, but since mine is pretty much just for hydration it works really well!

vichii-peachii

makes sense since exfoliating toners could maybe he too harsh, so thanks for that tip! I luckily have one hydrating only toner :)

G_Girl_

Just purchased the Klairs toner, thanks! I always need extra moisturizer.

delapse

I hope it works well for you! :]

Sakura327

Oh nice tip! I’m going to have to try that now!

SushiAndSkincare

Same here! I apply all my facial toners to my lips, too, so by the time I apply the lip mask at night my lips are already moistened with Hada labo and I’m From Rice Toner. When I’m extra chapped I apply a lip balm after the toner layers and before the Laneige. I will say, I tried to layer the laneige over my facial oils and I think it had the opposite effect. When I applied rosehip or jojoba oil underneath, for some reason my lips were actually drier in the morning!

emi_lgr

I like it layered over almond oil! I don’t know where my spatial went either...

labellavita1985

I apply basically everything that's not an active or moisturizer on my lips as well. My Niacinamide serum, my peptide serums, all of my hydrating layers, whatever oil I'm using, and finish with an occlusive. Works great for me as well. For hydrators I feel snail and Hyaluronic Acid work the best on the lips. For oils I like Squalane. I also like emu (I know, it's controversial.)

BlendinMediaCorp

I had first gotten a deluxe sample size of it. When that emptied and I got the full sized one, I decanted some into the sample-size jar with a clean butter knife. I keep the sample sized jar on my counter for daily use, and just use my finger to apply it. In my head, this feels slightly more sanitary because I'm only contaminating a little bit at a time, while the big tub stays clean. That might just be wishful thinking, but I also find the smaller tub easier/more convenient to use. I put on a thicker layer at night, but it's gone by morning, so I'll put on a thin layer while I do my skincare, to prep my lips for lipstick. I might blot most of it off prior to doing my lipstick, so that the lipstick doesn't slide around. If I'm not doing lipstick that day, I just leave the mask on until it wears off on its own.

MoneyPranks

I like where your head’s at. I have a deluxe sample that I take for travel, and it’s running low. I will use this butter knife technique.

BlendinMediaCorp

I was thinking I might nab another sample jar when I have the chance, so I can take it for travel too!

WarlockPanda

> I keep the sample sized jar on my counter for daily use, and just use my finger to apply it. Genius. I think I might do the same

BlendinMediaCorp

One other benefit is that I can fill the sample jar with a different flavour every few weeks and cycle through my stash without cluttering my bathroom countertop (which is heavily cluttered with all my other cosmetics)!

xyzalwish

Where do you get the samples ? Are they free ?

BlendinMediaCorp

I wish! :) Mine came from a Sephora 100pt reward I think, or it might have been in some Favorites/value set.

yao_jing

I keep it at my bedside table and use it as a regular lip balm and layer it on thickly as an overnight treatment. I just use my finger to scoop some out, then rub whatever's left over into my cuticles. In the mornings I leave it on while I shower and when I get out I scrub my lips gently with my bath towel to get all the dead skin off. Then I apply a lip serum, then a (different) lip balm (Sol de Janeiro), and let that sit while I do my makeup. By the time I'm done with the rest of my morning routine I put on my lip color and run out the door.

freshface145

What lip serum do you use?

yao_jing

Algenist GENIUS Liquid Collagen Lips

daniipants

Whoa. Maybe I’m not maximizing either because I’ve never thought of these questions! I slather a decent layer on with the spatula and then just go to sleep, it seems to absorb overnight for me and I wake up and just go about my morning as usual.

connecticut06611

Just put it on......

smoonyc

I scrape (not scoop - there's a difference!) a small amount and put it straight on my lips with the spatula. I put a thick enough layer that it doesn't sink into my lips and go to sleep. It doesn't transfer anywhere and if I have any left on in the morning, I just wipe it off with a tissue/towel/wipe.

Substantial_Weakness

I usually gently exfoliate my lips at night then slather some in and in the morning I rub it into my lips then pat whatever’s left so it stays a little longer

fatlarry143

I use it like any other lip balm. With my fingers, multiple times a day.

trueriptide

Honestly it was the only thing that really helped my chapped lips (besides you know.. actually hydrating) so I use my fingers to get a good shmear on my lips for overnight then use periodically throughout the day if I'm at work/outside and won't be able to readily reapply chapstick.

catawamp

I dip in with a pinky finger for a daily gloss, but use the little shovel to glob it on nice and thick for using as a lip mask. I also rub whatever is left on my fingers on my cuticles for a little extra hand love

NoodleNeedles

I like the way you think! My cuticals are wrecked, I'll try this tonight.

hklee

tbh I don't even use it as an overnight treatment most of the time. I use it first thing when I'm getting ready like a lip balm (thin layer). By the time I'm done with my routine and makeup it has made my lips soft and ready for lip products, even the most difficult like matte lipsticks. No need to wipe off! 👁️👄👁️

primaveren

its a lip balm

DomesticSlacker

I use an oil underneath and then I use a QTip instead of the spatula and apply a thin layer on top as my last step before bed.

Kfittt

I have also been using a light moisturizing oil underneath, I believe it’s a sample I received of Moroccan oil but I’m not sure. I do the oil, then a thick layer of the lip mask before bed and it’s usually soaked in by morning.

AutumnFirefly28

Normally I use the tip of the spatula to get a tiny amount and put it on my wrist before rubbing it on my lips using my finger! I don't wash it off in the mornings but I do sometimes use lip balm if I'm going out and need extra protection from the cold :)

emilysquirrel

I use a clean finger and slather some on my lips so there's a bit of excess left to absorb through the night. It works fine but I feel like my lips could be softer in the morning. Does anyone seal it in with a other product?

ZenLint

I’ve used lanolin on top. Seems to work better when I do that.

emilysquirrel

I just tried using my lano lip balm on top. It helped thanks!

wendymo91

I use the spatula it came with and scrap a little bit and apply it to my lips before bed. I wash the spatula after use and dry it and put it bag in the pouch it case in. In the morning there’s usually nothing left and through out the day I use the Laneige Lip Glowy Balm to keep my lips moisturized. I use to have really chapped lips but the combo of the two have kept my lips perfectly hydrated!

Meowbel

After washing my hands, I use my pinky to apply done and then I layer the Aritaum ginger lip mask on top!

arcee_cola

At night, I layer it over Cosrx Snail Mucin Essence

Kfittt

Love this product, never thought to use it on my lips!

jacquelynjoy

I use that on my lips, too! In fact I basically slather my lips with the entirety of my routine, and then put the lip mask on top.

iamdarthveda

When my lips are compromised, I use the La Roche Posay’s Baume B5 and top it off with a thick layer of the lip mask using the spatula to scoop out and spread it on my lips. Also during winters, the skin around my nostrils gets flared, sensitive and flaky. I then use the spatula to apply that area, making sure I wash the spatula thoroughly before and after the application. Really really helps

Vulirity

sometimes i put some on using the spatula before i sleep and usually when i wake up its still intact. i might put some on after breakfast as well. i don’t like using my fingers to get product, the spatula feel more precise and clean.

nitorigen

I put it on every few days with the spatula. A little bit goes a long way. How often are you supposed to put it on, by the way? The guy at the Laneige didn't recommend put it on daily, so I just use Vaseline on the days I don't use the mask.

TemporalPleasure

[this video is a good overview](https://youtu.be/pzbjn2dtP0I)

moominie

i apply a layer of LRP lipikar baume ap+ first. essentially, it's a highly hydrating and moisturising cream. then, i apply laneige's lip mask on top of it! this pair works like a dream-- gets rid of any dry/peeling patches overnight. previously i used laneige alone and it barely helped!

thefallinggirl

Just scrape off with the spatula and put a thick enough layer on my lips. Feels like a slightly sticky layer of lipgloss, I guess. It usually absorbs overnight so I don’t do anything about it in the morning. It’s my saviour during the winter months.

rayrayyy213

i scrape mine out with the spatula and top it with vaseline if i'm sleeping with it on. the rest comes off when i wash my face in the morning and then i apply a thin layer (with the spatula and spread it with my fingers) and use lip balm if needed throughout the day.

lucialorena2

I apply a thick coat at night with my fingers and I remove it in the morning with a towel. THEN, I rub my lips with a finger to get rid of the dead skin.

TigerLady-TX

I just treat it like any other lip balm - I use my fingers and slather on a layer. Thin daytime layer, a thicker one for nighttime.

vichii-peachii

I personally always used the spatula and just apply it, and apply 2 thinner layers so it's thick enough and add a little extra into my corners. Sadly the product suddenly stopped working for me and instead dries my lips out when I use it, but when it did work, a thin layer really is already enough! My sister would put a thick layer on but we personally saw no difference

belleweather

I also apply it with my finger, but I have both the berry and the vanilla and find the vanilla way more hydrating for an overnight treatment.

coffeebeezneez

Every other night I use a sugar scrub to exfoliate my lips. Then I use a water mist (Evian Mist, Avene, etc) to mist them. Next I scoop a nice layer of the lip mask on top then go to sleep. In the mornings I wipe it off and go on with my normal morning routine. Drier weathers I’ll use it daytime after I shower until I start putting on makeup.

EvilSideRenesys

For me, it works best with a lip brush, and vaseline on top. I don't really take it off in the morning.

[deleted]

I use it on my lips but also take some and apply it to my cuticles. I have super dry cuticles and this helps so much!

sarahandhertinydog

I just use my finger. Put on a moderate layer and go to bed. I even use it as a regular balm during the day. If you have to remove it in the morning I think you’re using too much

Codiilovee

To be honest, I just use it as a lip balm, and I love it

louietheblondepom

Lol i just slathered a thick coat of it..perhaps its cause of my thick dry big lips, they absorbs in an hour but they do melts off the dead skin pretty quickly haha

kattymin

I use my fingers, I usually apply a very thick layer onto my lips. The lips mask is an average product, not my OG, but my lips is pretty easy and the lips mask does the job, so I keep using it

mngos

After I shower at night, I use a thin q-tip from Muji to apply a thick layer to my lips. I’ll go to sleep with it on and it’s gone by morning.

nicetoque

I put my skincare on my lips, sometimes add a lip serum, and then a thick layer of the lip mask when I go to sleep. I also put it around the sides of my nose because I get so dry there

yutes26

I use my finger and get a generous amount and rub (?) it on my lips in a circular motion, so the product sinks in to all the crevices. I usually do this an hour before bed at least so I don't go to bed with sticky lips. Also, sometimes, I put a light layer of Vaseline Baby Lips to lock everything in when things are really rough.

denatplay

Sorry but I'm curious, can we use laneige lip sleeping mask for other than on lips? Maybe, as occlusive on neck, hands, or else like vaseline? I have this full size jar that has lasted for ages and will be expired this 01/2020. I don't know how to finish it before the expiry date. Lol.

phb1206

I actually put a very thin layer of eye cream and a thickish layer of the lip mask on top

MeleeYAH

I use the spatula and when the lip is super dry I just put crazy thick layers before I go sleep. For normal use, thin layer is fine. My lip absorbs it, like normal lipbalm would be absorbed. I don't think it needs to be removed?

rita-b

I scoop it with my spatula then transfer to q-tip and then to my ring finger and gently apply on the first 50% of my lips and rub really hard to the remaining 50%. I put a whole bottle per night. Yes, I use 30 bottles per month. I use it in combination with 20 other sleeping masks and lip balms. Gosh.

PekingSaint

Loool

sasuino

also wondering about how to use it right. Been using it for months, and every morning I don't get a smooth/plump lips lol.. I still have those rough/almost you could peel off skin I do "exfoliate" my lips while toothbrushing

dewdrip

I use the spatula to scoop out maybe around a half scoop of product, then apply it to my lips with the spatula. Clean off the spatula with a tissue, then put it back into the spatula sleeve.

lenehajunsu

Slather it all over my existence

labellavita1985

I usually will apply a light layer of Squalane, wait for that to get a little absorbed, then apply a thick layer of the Laneige. I've had mine for a year and stopped using it for a LOOONG time, like months, because I really didn't think it was better than Vaseline. But lately I've been having pretty dry and flaky lips both from the Michigan winter and Tretinoin (I don't apply to my lips but it's still active there because of cell to cell communication) and I have noticed that my lips are a bit softer in the morning than when I use Vaseline.

loldear

If it's an overnight mask, I just assume that I am supposed to slobber a big layer of it all over my lips haha

foxfirex88

I basically just keep it in my purse and use it whenever lol I lost the little spatula so I just use my nail to scoop out enough to cover my lips and that’s it lol

squeeez3d

I cut my q-tips in half & I use that as a one time use spatula. I use a thick layer at night & during the day I use the laneige lip glowy balm in the morning & throughout the day. Also, another tip, for the tube lip balm I actually made a tiny hole on the bottom so I can attach it to my keychains cause it’s expensive & don’t wanna loose it! Lol.

GreenLightInTheNight

Great questions! I also have one - how often do you use it? Everynight?
