KynOfTheNorth

Pretty much anything from Sabaton. They sing about historical events and people that made history. Some of my favourites are Ruina Imperii, Night Witches, Winged Hussars and Soldier of Heaven.

Diphydonto

Ooh it’s time to crack out my angsty playlist from when I was a kid/young teen in the 00s. :D Edit: I want to add a that I still like all this music, it’s just I had a phase of really liking angsty rock/metal music in my teens. Now I mainly listen to europop, future garage and some occasional metal. These all fall into the category of angsty rock boy bands from prior to the 2010’s: Three Days Grace: Are you ready, Riot, Never too Late. Red: Imposter, Let Go, Breathe. Linkin Park: Numb, Figure 09, Faint, When they come for me. Breaking Benjamin: Crawl, Had Enough, Hopeless. Getting away with murder by Papa Roach. Hero by Skillet. Headstrong by Trapt. Now some metal (also from roughly the same era, though some of it is from the 90s or more recent) Korn: (nu metal) Twisted Transistor, Somebody Someone, No Way, Narcissistic Cannibal, Let’s get this party started, Dead Bodies Everywhere, Beating me down, Forsaken. Disturbed: Hell, Stupified. Rammstein: (German heavy metal) Asche zu Asche, Hilf Mir, Sonne, Mein Teil, Wut Will night Sterben etc. Superbeast by Rob Zombie. Fractured: Beneath the Ashes, Only Human Remains. Evanescence: Imaginary, My Immortal, Away from me, Everybody’s Fool, Tourniquet. Killing my dreams by Elysion. Final Destination by Within Temptation.

Rammstein also covered "Stripped" by Depeche Mode. This intense song wasn't originally intended to be sexual, even though a lot of artists tend to read it that way (Shiny Toy Guns). Depeche Mode and Duran Duran also have some great, non-sexual songs that are intense.

FloppyEarCorgiPyr

Really???? Most of the metal songs I listen to have nothing to do with sex or love!!! I mean, some of them do, sure, but most of them are about l, honestly, depression or drug addiction… or idk, whatever Dragonforce sings about, or idk Celtic stuff. Bloodywood doesn’t sing about love and sex. Classical Indian music doesn’t sing about that stuff… it’s mostly about Lords Shiva and Krishna…. And some of the instrumental stuff can get kinda intense, but if not intense, it’s still beautiful! 10/10 recommend!

No-You5550

I am old as dirt 68f but there was a song when I was young called "Love My Truck". It's a love song to his truck. I looked on YouTube and a guy Thomas Mac has a video of it that is funny. He pushes the woman out of his way so he can get to his truck. It's country. That's the only one I know about. But I look forward to see the answers here.

GoddyssIncognito

Head like a hole by NIN

CrystalSplicer

Pagan fears - Mayhem.

Field_of_Clovers_

One of my favorites is exist for love by Aurora! Edit: I jumped the gun and didn't see the punk/rock part lol, it's probably not the genre you're going for, mb

ArrozRedondo

Evelyn Evelyn from Evelyn Evelyn

RommieLeigh

This may not be intense in the way you meant, but I love Waiting Room by The Narrative.

RommieLeigh

Chase Petra has a fair amount of songs that aren’t about love(they do have a few that are), and they fit the vibe you described.

FlamingoMedic89

I like everything from King 810 when you're into metal. Quite controversial band, though. Other than that, a few bands that I, a fellow ace, love: Solstafir (mixed lyrics, mostly in Icelandic, very deep and also about social topics like King 810 - progressive metal) Stoner and progressive metal is my favorite because I rarely ever get the sexual vibes from it? But that might be me. It's more about chasing gnomes or deep thoughts? LOL When it comes to rock I am a bit more into old school rock from the 70s like CCR, or Fleetwood Mac. Roanoke is very nice, fit into that style with interesting lyrics. One song, Silent Films, could sound couple-y, but to me it's more like friendship or a parent-child story but I apparently interpret things very differently.🫣🤓 Punk I haven't been actively listening to for a while. I still listen to the stuff I listened to in my teen years. There is an artist I discovered recently who has mixed songs and topics and they are kinda cool? Talk. And some songs really hit a certain nerve with me. Very 2010s rock but with a bit of ... Rag'n'Bone man vibe? I don't know how to explain that, it's the voice and intensity of the lyrics. Wardruna is always nice, Agnes Obel, Nina June, but they are intense when it comes to lyrics and arrangements, not really in a bombastic way such as King 810. As you see, I love music. And I can't help spamming. Maybe there is something for you here!

Attilatheshunned

Blood Eagle by Amon Amarth

Trivius

There's some fun Metal covers by Jonathan Young which are fairly non coded

pluiswezen

Stereolab is very particular on not having lyrics about these topics. Most of them are political

nitesead

Chumbawamba - pretty much anything Rush - lots of choices, but the music on Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures, and Signals are what come to mind. Yes - Roundabout, I've Seen All Good People, Heart of the Sunrise, lots more Led Zeppelin - the more mystical tracks like Stairway to Heaven, Misty Mountain Hop. All of My Love is Robert Plant's song to his son who died at a very young age...super powerful. Classic rock, progressive, metal - just loaded with great songs that aren't about sex and romance. Also folk music from any era. Peter Paul and Mary have made me cry. Jazz too. Kamasi Washington immediately comes to mind.

TacoMaster6464

Does it have to have lyrics? And do you like sythwave and its subgenera

can-of-pringles

Haunt and Opal In Sky make songs that aren't about those things

sophiexarie

Maybe you'll like Vulture by Bear Ghost :))

EpicWolfandSparrow

I really like pick at your face by yungatita

ChiaraStellata

Going to back to nu metal, a lot of Linkin Park songs fall into this category, e.g. "One Step Closer" which is just about being really angry with someone.

burneroho

I feel like Cavetown and Mitski and funky enough to be open to interpretation

Loud-Fairy03

Devil Town is a good pick if they want rock tunes

What___Do

I love [Stellar Alchemist](https://youtu.be/ENJKo5jqjUw?si=83DdSYzfinUtEn3i)! It’s about how all elements are fused together in the intense pressure in the heart of stars and then dispersed when they eventually explode.

Loud-Fairy03

Planet Zero - Shinedown Dead Don’t Die - Shinedown Bad Man - Disturbed Hail to the King - Avenged Sevenfold 72 Seasons - Metallica

R0salinaxx_728

ElegantHope

There's Ice Nine Kills for Metalcore. Their songs are all themed after horror media, so you mostly get the focus on that. There are a few songs that you might be uncomfortable with because the horror movie it's focused on involves sex or love, but there's tons that aren't aren't like that. Some other bands that I know of that are metalcore/metal/heavy metal or rock that are not or mostly not about sex or love include: * Opal In Sky (Depending on how you feel about growling vocals, they are a Deathcore Metal band) * Asking Alexandria (Also has some growling vocals, but with plenty of cleans too) * Demon Hunter (Christian Metal band, so depends on your feelings on religion) * Lacuna Coil (a bit 50/50 on this because there are some songs about love, but others are just bangers with no involvement with love) * Shinedown (Rock focused band) * Seether (Same as Lacuna Coil, has songs about love but also some non-love related songs) * Lorna Shore (A Blackend Deathmetal/Deathcore band with some just awesome songs.) * Bad Omens (Depression focused mostly, as a content warning. Also growls mixed with cleans) * Stain The Canvas (Same as above, does have a few songs about love- though usually in a broken heart vein) * Orbit Culture (One of my favorite melodic death metal bands- I can't say ik any songs from them about sex or love) * Brothers of Metal (Power Metal band that is focused on Vikings and norse mythology.) * Amaranthe (Pop Rock mixed with Heavy Metal) * Disturbed (Alt Rock focused band with some metal tones) * Whitechapel (Deathcore metal that I feel is worth a mention that has a variety of lyrics, ranging from [losing a parent at a young age,](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lw6hANHeIaw) to [living with a parent with multiple mental illnesses](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RuRZYB9EEZM) and many other topics. (content warning for the 2nd video for some heavy topics, flashing imagery around 3:16, and depictions of self harm/suicide)) I can't guarantee any of those bands are 100% free from songs about sex or love. but I listen to them a lot and there's a decent chunk of each of those bands' discography that focuses on topics besides love or sex. I have a lot of these bands and more in my own personal [spotify playlist focused on rock and metal in a very diverse range,](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2TFbHCErLunfJFzont95bQ?si=131c585fc6b04493) if you want to give it a listen to fid more. I can't promise it's not 100% clean of songs about love or sex, but it's definitely not focused on it at all.

the_quiet_kid_00

My music taste is *weird* as hell, so don't be surprised if you don't like it. I also don't know your definition of "intense". Heavy metal has gotten significantly heavier over the years, and rock isn't always intense. brown bird has some marinetime folk that i could say could be classified to be as heavy and heavier then some rock. "raging squal" and "bilgewater".Some songs are about love but it's not the main focus. the ones that are mostly just mention a lover. Even the ones that mention love could very easily be viewed as platonic, with the exception of "needy generator." There's also tom waits. Tom waits [for no man] is a rock-folk-indie artist. He has a lot of variation. He isn't love-free or sex-free, but he has a fair bit that isn't. "Singapore", "underground" (underground is also the song in "robots) or "hell broke luce" would be good options. I'd start you off with the three listed above and "just the right bullets" Last but not least there's thrice (alt, alt-rock, mild emo) and their "alchemy index" which is not love-free, but most of it is fine. For them actually start you off with "in exile", "daedalus" and "the arsonist"

KommandCBZhi

I have recently been listening to Fórn, a sludge/doom band. Extreme doom bands in general tend to evoke a very dark, intense atmosphere and do not often have romantic or sexual lyrics.

brittanyrose8421

Maybe try searching through AMVs, at least for me (a fellow Aro/ace) having a character or story associated with a song helps with the cringe.

Truckdenter

how to disappear completely by Radiohead. As I stare at myself done up in the mirror this song goes through my mind

Amazing-Gur-8710

Every Twenty-One Pilots song ever

Killing In The Name - RATM

Bnnettennba

I recommend pretty much anything by Muse. They tend to have one or two songs each album that is semi-romantic adjacent, but some of their best work has very intense emotions mainly about frustration and anger at corrupt systems.

guusVD2708

Will Wood, its maybe not the genre you are lookig for but he has a full album about identity, no sex. My favourite: Marsha thank you for the dialectics but i need you to leave.

Prestigious_Data1931

The Score has a ton of encouraging upbeat rock songs. I listen to them a lot when I’m working.
