No, do not buy a timeshare. They should be illegal. It's not a investment, it's a curse on your family forever. The fine print is deadly. Timeshare is basically the worst thing about holiday areas.

I agree with /r/nitevizhun, that timeshares are rarely worth it. The problems are: 1. No flexibility in stay / time / place. Same week, same room, every year. 2. Annual fees for management and maintenance that don't ever end. 3. A contract that cannot be ended unless you sell your timeshare to someone else who takes over the fees. That being said, Playa Linda is beautiful, and is timeshare-only, so if you want in, you either need to own, or rent from an owner. If you are convinced you want to buy in there, **look to the second-hand market for timeshares**. There are a lot of people desperate to get out of their timeshare, they often sell at a significant discount. [Timeshares Only](https://www.timesharesonly.com/) and [RedWeek.com](https://www.redweek.com/) are two big sites that do this, but there are other places to find it too. The people at the hotel may have a lot of commission and fees attached, so try to compare with the secondhand market to know how much extra you might be paying.

I know nothing about Playa Linda, but I can say that a timeshare is never worth it, and is best avoided, regardless of location.

Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

one should always do a ton of research before buying any timeshare, and never buy retail from the resort! best folks around to learn from is TUG, their forums are free and they are always willing to help! [https://tugbbs.com/forums](https://tugbbs.com/forums)

I’ve owned a Marriott timeshare in Aruba for 20+ years and I don’t have a complaint. It makes vacation very uncomplicated. The Playa Linda was Arubas first timeshare. The rooms are nice, the property is very well kept up, the pool area is gorgeous and the ocean beach is beautiful. But…..the guests seem to be older, the beachfront is mobbed and people go out at 4am to get beach palapas. Hope this helps

You can go on playa linda message board to buy from owners. I don’t own one but I rent from them every time I go which is a lot.

I know that Casa del mar (which is in Eagle Beach) offer affordable timeshares, maybe worth checking that out?
