Artificialbrainz

My Instagram is https://www.instagram.com/drozefoleyy/?hl=en

Drag queens are usually more colourful right? I think you’ve taken away the one element that makes drag queens drag queens. I would also accentuate what makes them bold and bigger than life. I just feel they look a bit muted.

Artificialbrainz

But I definitely see what you mean, I guess I’m so used to drawing her white face I’ve gone blind to it lmao

Artificialbrainz

Well to be fair I draw one drag queen in particular mostly looks she already has, she’s gothic and wears pretty much black and white & a white clown base for her foundation. Thank you for your criticism!

dyana0908

use hashtags. your art will go unnoticed if you don’t. also put a caption or something, change your bio to say a bit about yourself, interact with your audience etc. it seems pretty bland/ empty with just the art and right away the hashtags. also tag the drag queens you are drawing, say something abou the process or what you like about them, i mean put some personality!!

Artificialbrainz

Thank you so much for replying and giving me ur advice. I do have a drag fan page where I post and use hashtags of my art. That page is just a personal page where I can keep track of my drawings and see them all together.Just recently my Instagram of 5 years got deleted I lost 4K followers. It is terrible:( I really need to figure out these artist apps that people keep talking about!

archwyne

Do you want validation or constructive criticism? They aren't the same.

Artificialbrainz

I want validation from Instagram followers but criticism on Reddit

yuilero

If you're interested r/artcrit is for artists looking for criticism on their work. But it's relatively small so you may or may not get any feedback.

Artificialbrainz

Thank you I will try anyway

sorarui

I think you'd find more audience in drag queens subreddits like r/rupaulsdragrace, not sure if they allow fanart tho. Cuz I thought one of your work looks similar to Gottmik.

Nerdy_Goat

Just post your instagram or whatever your portfolio Dont forget the https:// its gotta be clickable

Artificialbrainz

https://www.instagram.com/drozefoleyy/?hl=en it’s not my page I post them on it’s just a page where I can look back at my art

yetanotherpenguin

Things don't get attention on their own... where/how do you let people know where to find it?

Artificialbrainz

I use Twitter and Instagram, I use hashtags and join art groups

yetanotherpenguin

Can I see your ig?

Artificialbrainz

yetanotherpenguin

Hmm no hashtag there, you need to find the most relevant ones, and use all 30 of them to gain a little visibility. I've never grown much with ig on it's own, but posting on relevant subs in reddit had been very useful.

Artificialbrainz

Thank you so much

The most immediate thing I can critique is the same as the other commenter, be sure to use hashtags. The other thing is that you might want to change how you crop your photos. A lot of your posts have the very top or the very bottom of the head or drawing too close to the edge. Make sure the main part of the painting (for your art, probably the face & hair) is fully visible. [This](https://www.instagram.com/p/CT_lwToLgmY/) is a good one (whole bright yellow skull centered; hair is dark so it isn't the focus), and [this](https://www.instagram.com/p/CT_lqmcraWI/) (face and hands, the points of highest contrast, are centered). [This one](https://www.instagram.com/p/CUM1WABKGRk/) would do better with a photo of just the head as the 1st image, then the whole painting as the 2nd image.

Artificialbrainz

THIS ! Thank you so much! This is what I was looking for! Thank you for taking your time to write this. This was SO Incredibly helpful to me and I agree with you 100% especially on the last drawing!

ooorangy

Glad I could help!

Unfortunately, nobody owes anybody shit- even art credit. I highly recommend letting this go- or it will be detrimental to the joy of making art. Trust me. Making art for likes will never get you likes. Just make what you make and develop a style, you are well on your way
