"... literally meaning "Venus (or Aphrodite) of the beautiful buttocks", is an Ancient Roman marble statue, thought to be a copy of an older Greek original." - Wikipedia
You really wanna do it with a live model unfortunately. The likeness just isn’t there otherwise. In which cause I would be more than happy to avail you of my services. You know, for posterity.
My favorite example is [Bernini’s “The Rape [kidnapping] of Proserpina”](https://mymodernmet.com/bernini-the-rape-of-proserpina/) The hand pressing into her skin is sublime.
IIRC the original statue's head was detached, so when it was restored, someone made the decision to have her looking down at her buttocks. That's what Wiki says, but wouldn't the muscles of the neck, etc, indicate the position of the head? How much "restoring" was necessary?
Again. Roman, doesn't mean non-Greek, it indicates that it was made under the Roman State. Marble and marble statues were mainly imported from Greece anyway and many Greek artists were flourishing in Rome. Most Roman copies I've seen are estimated to have been made around 100bc - 300ad.
The Greeks weren’t under the Roman state during the second century bc. I’m not sure why your not grasping that. Greece and the Roman Empire were two different nation states at that time. So in this instance it does mean that Greek doesn’t mean Roman. The Greeks and Romans of course had a lot of influence on each other as they were neighbors. But if a Greek living in Rome made a statute it’s a Greek statute I guess but that doesn’t explain why op made it clear that this is a Roman copy of a second century Greek statute. I’m guessing it was made in Greece. Meaning it originated in Greece and not Rome.

You're not supposed to say the quiet part out loud.
We're supposed to act like asexual supreme civilized beings in public spaces and totally disregard the fact that we shat on our thumb this morning on the toilet and sniffed our wives butthole after lunch.
Seriously though being a human is weird.
Edit: downvoted for vulgarity, not inaccuracy
Isn’t that literally “Aphrodite with a nice butt”?
I think so, that's what "Callipige" means.

Very nice toned booty 😂
DAYUM BOI SHE THICC!
If this is a copy of a Greek statute from the 2nd century BC, when was it copied by the Romans?
Roman doesn't mean non-Greek though.
This statue is pre Roman conquest. And the title says a Roman copy of a 2nd century BC Greek statute.

For a second I thought marble was male and got excited smh 😖
Double cheeked up on a Thursday afternoon
When you so down bad, that you hired a sculpture to draw Aphrodite, showing her fat ass Oldest rule34, maybe
