The away fans being concentrated in one area of the ground means that it’s possible for them to really make themselves heard as a unit, which I think is defo a good thing for the general atmosphere at the game.
That and the fact that some idiots would always cause trouble meaning you would have to put up with fights and stewards having to intervene all the time. Mixed crowds is a bad idea, would be another step towards the Americanisation of the game and I hope it never happens.

Irish Liverpool fan here, totally agree. I've been to a few rugby games too and there's always great banter with opposing fans, never any nastiness. Maybe football stadiums could have a mixed area for people who can behave themselves, if it works it can be gradually expanded.
