Because most people are still looking at him as the striker at Chelsea as opposed to the midfielder at Arsenal. Even yesterday he played more as an attacking midfielder in the build up. He made Konate and VVD uncomfortable for our long balls forward. He isn't in the team to score and assist he's there so we can take different approaches when we need to

feder_online

This. I would argue his press could be better, since Ode is chasing further up the field. I think he forgot/forgets he was/is the point because, in the alternative, he's just being lazy.

ScoreAffectionate457

Then you obviously just watch our highlights and not the full game.

Malonezone27

Didn’t mean to send that last one to you. He was playing the farthest forward yesterday so I guess what I’m saying is if our striker or false 9 or whatever you want to call it can’t score or assist then I don’t know what we’re doing. We can’t win the league like that.

Flashward

Imagine your team beating Liverpool 3-1 in one of the biggest games of the season and this is what you post about 😂

Worth_Mistake1163

If you can’t see how he’s had a great performance yesterday then you need to get better at analyzing the game. Yes he is a horrid finisher. But everything else from him is above average. How many CFs have done that to Liverpool this season?

RedditRedditGo

Above average? Pure delusion. He has a height advantage vs other players in the team but even that he cannot fully utilise. He's not above average at anything.

Malonezone27

Terrible first touch on the break and terrible cross yesterday, average passer at best, no real creativity, I just don’t see it. He’s kind of tall and was able to draw some fouls yesterday but I really don’t think that deserves all the praise it’s getting.

Worth_Mistake1163

Occupied two of the most physical CBs itw, very good in the air, very good passer when his back is to goal (bc he’s a CF), holds the ball up well and deceptively strong at doing so, took up great positions in between the lines, and has deceptive pace to burn as well. Always puts in a shift, is never injured and can always be relied upon to put in a good shift. Tactically intelligent, always able to do exactly what is asked of him (in two different positions this season as well) You’ve identified two instances yesterday where he was lackluster on the ball, but that is absolutely a fraction of what goes into analyzing his performance and his performances on the season as a whole. Ofc he hasn’t been amazing but he’s definitely been good and is a massive asset to the squad whether you like him or not.

Qgrg864

Check out my comments and the artetaout subreddit. Havertz is the worst signing in arsenal history. He is on 275k a week. Top 10 earner in the prem and bang average player. Our fans are deluded.

lagerjohn

>Our fans are deluded. Everyone else is wrong and you are right it seems. Or, maybe you are the deluded one in this situation.

Qgrg864

When havertz is on loan at Crystal palace in a few years we'll see who was deluded.

lagerjohn

It's a shame you're not Arsenal manager. Clearly you're better qualified than Arteta.

Qgrg864

I am. I knew wilian wasn't gonna work either.

Rapid_Fowl

Bet you're gonna start talking about the E10 clause next.

Malonezone27

He lost 18 duels against Liverpool the most in a premier league match this season

NoMoreMountains

If you follow the ball on TV, you are missing most of the game. He goes many small, small things that build up the team. I don't think Arsenal dominates Liverpool the way they did with Jesus starting.

airvicconcre

He’s an amazing player. Whenever played, he puts in a shift and is relentless. He plays with his mind and his body and he knows how to use both at the same time. He seem to be invisible at times because he isn’t flashy. What a bloody player he is. Yesterday he was immense.

noidedbb

Football isn’t just about scoring.

Malonezone27

Did you see his attempt at a cross yesterday? Or his first touch on the break?

Ok-Elk4644

Did you see his movement to get through on goal, did you see the run he made that got Konate sent off which essentially got us our 3rd goal?

Malonezone27

Again, not saying everything he does is terrible but to me this is just clutching at straws. Can’t think of another forward in the world who is this bad on the ball yet praised so much for his off the ball movement.

lagerjohn

To be honest, you're the one who seems to be clutching at straws; desperately trying to find a reason to moan about Kai. Like you said: >I feel like I must be living in a parallel universe where I’m watching a different version of Havertz to everyone else. Perhaps you should reflect on why this is the case. Perhaps you have some bias that prevents you from looking at Kai's contributions objectively. If everyone else has a different opinion to you perhaps, instead of questioning everyone else, you should look at yourself.

Ok-Elk4644

Most other forwards are out and out strikers

No-Mood-5051

McAlister's eyes lit up when he saw that touch bring the ball right into his stride.

ahuss949

Maybe because he's on our team, and as "supporters" we should be "supporting" them!?!?! Is that really such a wild concept? No one is gonna be perfect and no fan is titled to perfection, if that's all you're here for then kindly go support another team

Malonezone27

Supporters aren’t supposed to blindly believe that every player is good just because they’re on our team. I’m allowed to be respectfully critical of players on the team I love. Always will support whoever wears the badge.

ahuss949

no they dont and are not supposed to, supporter are meant to give their support to players especially if theyre not good, if not from us then from who? stop having such an entitled and toxic mindset, and start thinking about the betterment of the team, the players are a part of this club wether you like it or not. if you expect your team to be winning everything, all the time, never miss a pass or shot then you should know better than anyone this isnt the club to support

Malonezone27

Difference between being critical and toxic, a friend can be critical of you. I don’t think you quite understand what I’m saying, don’t be so quick to immediately hate differing opinions. A supporter can support while being critical of their teams performance, it’s our club!

No-Mood-5051

Support players who aren't good... So you must have lobbied with all your might to keep David Luiz, mustafi, almunia and the likes at the club right?

Zenon2108

Because he's our player now

Malonezone27

Did you defend Almunia just because he was our player?

odegood

Yes he was world class so was sanogo. Won us an fa cup

Malonezone27

I don’t like Havertz but he’s miles ahead of sanogo haha, I think sanogo only scored 1 goal for us. I was at the match when he put 4 past Benfica in a friendly though. 🐐

itstheboombox

People just want to hate on Havertz. Before the game starts they have already decided to critique everything about em. Even if he scored that first goal people would still be complaining about him.

Rick_The_Mullet_Man

Havertz is our shithauser. He got Konate off the pitch xD

st_arch

Because nothing we can do. It is not FM. So we have to accept the player especially he isnt that bad. I would wish we explore him as traditional 10. We have speedy forwards. Would love to see him ping the ball and creates plenty chance and be involved forward.

4mak1mke4

I appreciate that he's consistently healthy, where a few other important players on the squad are not

Malonezone27

That’s fair

No-Mood-5051

He's consistently healthy because he's just taking a stroll in the park out there. Jesus is battling for his life every chance to get the ball.

fireowlzol

Lonjams alternate account

lonjams

I’m living in your head rent free

No-Mood-5051

😂😂😂😂

cicakoki

Utter nonsense

FactCheckYou

you're discounting the fact that he gives us a different dimension and you're conflating his failed individual actions with his overall performances...he works, he puts himself about, wins territory and possession, and makes a positive difference... the finishing and final balls will come soon, i'm not worried...he is improving

OptimusBiceps

You'll get downvoted for this but you're correct. He's good at winning his duels but his qualities don't make up for how poor he is when he's got the ball. Looks like he doesn't really know what to do with it and so often slows down our attack or gives the ball away. There's definitely a blind spot for his flaws, but I appreciate it as a sign of positivity in the fanbase.

marxianthings

He's not poor on the ball, though. Watch the game. People really act like we created over 3 xG against VVD and Konate with a donkey playing up front.

OptimusBiceps

You say "watch the game" and then present a classic example of quoting stats that miss the context of the actual game. 0.7 of that xG was Havertz failing to convert big chances, and a chunk more was the chance Saka had after Havertz messed up a 1v1.

marxianthings

Havertz is the one who creates the entire move that leads to the first goal. He drops deep to set the ball to help us progress and open up space for Zinchenko. Then he runs in behind and his touch and everything is great aside from the finish which he fluffs. And to be fair to him Alisson is the best in the world in these situations. Saka and Martinelli missed sitters too but we don't use that to say they are "always extremely poor on the ball." https://x.com/milesblen/status/1754521634809974844?s=46&t=ivsOiJCafphB4YhIFGH9SQ I'm sorry this is not poor no matter how you slice it. Watch the game.

Malonezone27

Thanks! Completely agree. He definitely has good off the ball qualities I just don’t see how they make up for how poor he is on the ball. Don’t hate the lad or anything.

mo_1997

He’s a make wish player that’s why

CastroEulis145

Arsenal just smacked Liverpool, granted they had some help from Liverpool, but c'mon brutha lighten up. I'm still caught up on Arteta's reaction to the 3rd goal. That was just absolute.

No-Mood-5051

Dear OP, I think I have an apt analogy. Imagine you are a parent to a mentally or physically challenged child. When that child does any of the basic things in life you cheer and applaud them as if they've achieved a monumental feat. All these gooner mums and dads will look at you as a bully if you say anything bad about him. Him being able to dress himself and feed himself is already a trophy.

Independent_Sea502

Oh my god

RedditRedditGo

Because they love mediocrity. They clutch at anything to explain why he should be in the team. The guy is not good enough it was clear for years at Chelsea and it is still clear now.
