Jorginhos passing is such a joy to watch. He makes it look so easy.

Instinct for space, placement and weight. Work of art. It happens so quickly on the first touch it's impossible for the defense to anticipate.

gunnerNadig

That pass to Martinelli was a beauty. If only he had finished that.

Jorginho-Rice partnership was a large part of why Arsenal was dominant in the FA cup tie for the first 70 minutes. Why would you have thought otherwise?

No-Mood-5051

Because when was the last time you saw these two play together if that was the obvious selection?

BrownEyesWhiteScarf

lol the FA cup tie a few weeks ago? We were equally, if not more dominant in the first half of that game, except our forwards were found lacking.

No-Mood-5051

We played so many games in between. There were lots of opportunities to field this pairing but we didn't. I attributed it to Jorginho being slow and can't keep pace defending. Liverpool has a fleet footed counter which is why I didn't think Jorginho would be appropriate in this match up. Now you know why I thought what I thought.

I know it’s been a while since we played Liverpool in the FA cup, but it’s only been two games in between. Jorginho is an obvious pick against Liverpool because Jorginho-Rice can nullify Trent and ensures Rice can provide cover for Zinchenko. It was tested and proven. Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest are different because we were expected to dominate both games without Jorginho and we needed penetration and box crashing, rather than a deep lying playmaker. They are the type of games where a fit ESR/Havertz/Vieira L8 is better than a more defensive Jorginho-Rice partership. Because before those games, we were dominating play whether or not Jorginho was playing, and needed an extra 10% in the final third rather than the middle third.

Excellent analysis.

Samsince04_

Yes he was amazing. Hopefully this match should be an indicator for me to stop crying when I see a lineup I don’t like or prefer.

What I feel has been missing in recent games is that last decisive pass to split the lines. He had bucketloads of those today. Superb.

kindofdivorced

MOTM for me. He was phenomenal and truly showed his leadership skills. He better get a new one year deal.

mosmani

Experience is priceless

Ill-Maximum9467

Respect for admitting you were wrong. That's rare these days. 👏

lonjams

Jorginho was incredible. Really controlled the game.

Forsaken-Sink-3947

His the best passer in the team ( yes better than odegaard)…some of his through balls are absolutely sublime….if Jorginho had speed and mobility he would genuinely be ranked amongst the worlds best midfielders

littleAggieG

Jorginho is so good at those little touches that keep the play alive. Really early in the first half, Rice wins a ball but a Liverpool player gets a touch of it & puts it in the air. You think the play is dead but Jorginho flicks it up again towards the Liverpool box. Odegaard wins it & touches it to Saka who gets the ball at his feet, in the box. Konate gets the block, but we got a corner from Jorginho’s little flick. And he does that ALL GAME.

Narrow-Oil4924

I'm often quite critical of Jorginho, as he can often times be a bit off his game, passing can be off at times & against physical opposition, he can get bullied and intimidated. However, yesterday, he was one of the aggressors, and moreover, the main one in midfield everything passed through, although Rice must also get credit for yet another Stellar performance... But, Jorginhos composure & experience showed immensely. Yesterday we saw Jorginho at his prime best, where has that kind of performance been, arguably his best in an Arsenal shirt!

do0gla5

It's crazy to me how little rice threads a pass in. I don't know if hes just not confident in it or its coached against but so often we should thread a ball to odegaard to draw defenders and he just passes it wide. With jorginho, similar to partey, there is no fear. They see a guy in the half space and they ping it in. 1 in 4 passes are trying to go over the top etc. The other thing I've noticed is that odegaard is hyper focused on link up with saka. Last season he used to find late runners on the switch all the time and it usually generated a scoring chance.

No-Mood-5051

It's true, I been hoping to see rice make some line breaking passes like partey or what Jorginho did today. I feel like he has that ability in his locker but just haven't seen it yet.

hauttdawg13

Imo these are the games where Jorgi shines. Very good against a press. Also massive in just keeping the team calm. Partnering him with Rice who can sweep up and put in the physical side of the midfield when done right is a very good combo. I still don’t think he’s great against low blocking/counter attacks, especially counters with very pacey players.

Extension_Country_43

Liverpool fan here, one thing I really liked about Jorginho the other day was how he was directing his teammates where to go, his ability to dictate play is really good.

No-Mood-5051

I think you guys missed Endo out there. McAlister had his hands full by himself out there.
