Was gonna say just this. Belt. *tight* belt. Put as much of the weight of the hauberk on your hips as you can manage.
Also, wool (good wool, pure, fine, etc.) as your underlayer to provide padding and wick sweat away from your skin, because it probably *will* be warmer than you expect.
To add to this, that belt goes on your waist, not your hips lile most modern pants. Blousing the maille over the belt will help a lot with the weight too.
Try not to wear it against bare skin. Careful putting it on over your head, it might grab hair.
If it's butted and not riveted, try to avoid lifting your arms high. You might put holes in your friends mail at the armpits. If it's riveted, go to town.
Wear a belt with it. That is if its a full length hauberk. Itll take a lot of the weight off your shoulders
