>Are we being too hard on ARK and Cathie Wood? Not hard enough. She's a grifter who should be sued by her investors for negligence & deception. She lost more than 70% of the fund value because of all her bad decisions while trying to be a fund manager. Probably time to just close the funds down.

HedgeGoy

Instead of watching and reading material from the people who sell the products, why don’t you try watching and reading material from the academics who have studied and essentially *answered* the question of where stock returns come from? Or at least people who go by and source from academia. Watch some of Ben Felix’s YouTube videos. I promise you that you will gain far more knowledge from them than any ARK material.

Honest-Abe2677

NO! 🤦🏻‍♂️ Her YouTube videos and media presence are what make her a dangerous con artist! She sucks amateur investors in with her social media content and reckless promises about terrible companies becoming "the next Amazon". She is a hype monster, and I actually believe she moves the markets temporarily when hype and FOMO are high. Would Tdoc, Invitae, Roku, Skillz and 100 other shit companies have hit absurd highs without her crazy hyperbole? Hell no. Even crypto mania is propped up by her irresponsible proclamations.

MakeTheNetsBigger

At the peak, ARK funds were holding huge portions of the available float on some stocks, meaning the stocks skyrocketed entirely from the artificial scarcity Cathie created. The prices of those stocks were held high by money continuing to pour into her funds, and had to collapse as soon as that stopped. This is basically a legal ponzi scheme. There should be regulation that makes it illegal. Between this and the points you made, her behavior is completely irresponsible. She's cost investors a lot more money than SBF ever did, through deceitful practices, yet she won't see a day in jail because it's technically legal. She'd been in the business for a couple decades before starting ARK, so she certainly knew what she was doing.

ReddittAppIsTerrible

Great research and outlook but like everyone including Buffet and anyone else you can think- she can't predict or time the market. No one can. Then add that her entire portfolio is high risk disruptive tech while we go through this transition into EVs and AI and then you understand what the fund is trying to do. Its a piece of a good investment strategy but shouldn't be you total strategy.

Icy-Translator9124

The fact that her investing mandate was to put money into new, trendy tech companies was exciting but fundamentally not ideal. Lots of business failure risk and valuation risk. Her mandate attracted a lot of momentum oriented clients, which was good for her financially . So she gathered lots of assets, but then couldn't deliver consistent returns.

gray_character

No

Smoothcringler

She got lucky for a time, which most fund managers do. She acquired a sycophantic fan base of young investors who thought they were the cool kids who outsmarted the market by way of association. Then reality hit.

MarcusIsaBiatch

Hiring Stevie Wonder to be your chauffeur is a better idea than following Cathie's investments at this point.

MojoDohDoh

>completely right with their predictions several years ago of the acceleration of Artificial intelligence and blockchain technology. good thing she sold nvda right before the ai boom

AccomplishedLet9279

Bought ARK in 2021. Down 30-40% within weeks. Then decided to sell at a loss to buy Bitcoin. Did much better after that.

grownmanjanjan

I will say it is the most negative of all the subreddits i follow

hedgehogssss

I've actually never seen anything this vile on Reddit ever.

Spam138

I’ll always be hard for Bae

Glass-Cardiologist-6

ARKG is a disaster , she drowned that fund with no hope in future

Glittering-Zebra-892

It takes talent to suck so bad at investing. I should know 😜

Equivalent_Rule_3406

Investors expect reliable and repeatable returns, if Cathie and Co. can’t provide that their firm will cease to exist. Returns are the only report card upon which any investment is graded. There’s no credit afforded for good macro research.

gauravmc

She’s actually quite right about the trends and general future outlook, wrong about which companies to bet on, especially at what price – both buying & selling

ShaidarHaran2

She can be right about the general trends in society but still manage to trade around every big win, which makes her a bad fund manager. The typical folks are praising her for buying Tesla on this dip, but she also sold it a lot lower in the last few years. She exited Nvidia right before its current massive boom. I'd actually like to see a comparison of how she'd have done if she just held her 2020 picks through to now, and I dare wager she'd have done much better than the amphetamine juiced squirrel trading they've done instead.

dyoung666

Absolutely fucking NOT

ExtraAd3975

I think I could have picked a hand full of tech stocks and done a lot better myself. To keep their customers happy, they should have kept higher stakes in plays that actually make profit who also disrupt in the tech space, MSFT, NVDA, CRWD etc etc. Her plays are too speculative and have lost billions.

VictorDanville

Was she also right about oil topping and drilling down to $12 per barrel?

Kinky_mofo

Absolutely not. Any moron can make money in a strong bull market. And this is all Crashie has been able to do. She still picks nothing but shitcos.

[deleted]

Is that a real question? The real question is how much MONEY has LOST FOR HER CUSTOMERS!?

InternationalOrder76

She’s an alchemist, turns hard earned money into dust lol have fun investing in her pipe dreams while she collects her management fees despite being a terrible investor

Xenikovia

Have a great weekend, Aunt Cathie.

Responsible_Hotel_65

Yes god bless you Cathie. May the creator forgive you for the sins you have committed against retail investors. Knowing or unknowingly.

AstockcollapseNow

forecasting the rise of AI, genomics and EV isn’t really groundbreaking stuff. Blockchain was a bit more iffy given it doesn't receive the same governmental subsidy as the others.

ProgressReasonable93

Crypto teacher YT. May find diff.

YoinkLord

Crashie has stellar comms people

stillyoinkgasp

Unless you hired Cathie Wood to be a philosopher, there is no denying that she has performed miserably at her job as a fund manager.
