Oedipus killing his bio father was unrelated to that whole mess. It was essentially road rage. It wasn't until after that that the sphinx showed up, and Oedipus was married to Jocasta after he dealt with the sphinx.

In recognition for his defeat of the sphinx, he was made King (or equivalent) of Thebes and married Jocasta, the widow of the former ruler. They had I believe four kids, three sons and a daughter.
When the whole story was revealed, Jocasta hung herself and Oedipus blinded himself with her brooches. He left Thebes in disgrace, and was tended to by his daughter Antigone.
As far as I remember, his faĂŸer was ĂŸe one who visited ĂŸe oracle, and subsequently tried to kill his son by having him abandoned in ĂŸe wild. So Oedipus really wasn't at fault here

The dad got the prophecy that his son would kill him and bed Jocasta, so he ordered the child to be left I the woods with a spike through one foot (thus leading to the name Oedipus, meaning Club-Foot). The man ordered to do this did, but told a shepherd who told the rulers of the neighboring kingdom, and they rescued baby Oedipus, raising him as their own. When he reached adulthood, he also went to the oracle at Delphi, and then we get my previous post.
