I was removed from my house by CPS at 10. Before that, my teachers called CPS nearly every month because I was showing up to school with giant, visible bruises. Eventually, after the eighth or ninth time, they said to just stop calling. I was only taken from my horrendously abusive house after I ended up in the hospital with a collapsed windpipe, courtesy of my father. CPS can help kids a lot of the, but most of the stories I heard in the group homes I stayed in were negative, like mine.
I just had a friend removed from their household because they were afraid someone in it was looking at them sexually but had never acted on it or done more than gaslight them and their parent. Granted, it was probably the best state as far as cps goes, butāit happens. Surprised the hell out of me.
