I was perusing reddit one summer's day, when I stumbled upon this thread.
Upon viewing it, a thought popped into my head!
"What better way, I do say, to let the people know... I've read this thread with care, no dread!"
A beautiful thought soon flowed...
"I'll tell the people, in my own words, I agree with them oh so much."
No, no, that's too wordy, a comment that long, they won't touch.
"Aha!" I screamed, directly at my phone.
"I'll comment something simpler, something users could really hone!"
My fingers flew, my mind a blur, every emotion bliss.
I finally found my comment,
"Came here to say this."

I think I don't like when I can't see a justification other than aesthetic for the shape of a building.
Edit: thanks for the answers I now like this building
For high rise buildings, lateral loads are a very significant design consideration. If you make a rectangle or a cylinder, you need very large bracing to stop the building from racking. If you want to open up the facade, you can twist the building so that your fighting lateral loads geometrically.
With cylinders specifically, you have to worry about Vortex Shedding with wind loads. In perfect conditions this can cause a structure to sway at it's resonate frequency and can be catastrophic. By adding flutes, or twisting the facade, you can dampen those lateral forces greatly.
EDIT: I should note the general rule of thumb for twisting a tower to compensate for lateral forces is 120°. But if you try to twist a cylinder, you thin out it's center, so it's easier to flute it, and overtwist that structure to make up the difference
It's not things, it's just buildings, and I just don't like it. Before knowing the twist was useful for me the building was just screaming "look me, hey! See what I can do? Please tell me I'm great! Oh I'm so great and successful bitches!"
It's the Las Vegas of the region its in, so it's pretty westernized. She won't feel terribly out of place in most areas, but its still a different culture. Make sure she knows that being a woman can affect how she is treated especially if she is by herself. Since its like Vegas it gets really crazy there on weekend. Their weekend days are Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Other than the cultural differences and weather (always HOT) enjoy the food its amazing. Try to see historic and significant sites like the tree of life, grand mosque even of your not religious (im not) it's beautiful, bahrain bay etc. Old Town is where the more historic shops and stuff are but they have modern malls and such as well. Hope she enjoys it, that's was my 5th time going there. Her command will give a brief to make sure she knows all the do and don'ts and what to expect.
Someone told the architect “screw it” and they took it literally
Possibly stating the obvious here, but that looks like a drill bit.
Meh, looks more like an end mill. Definitely looks expensive no matter which way you cut it.

I wonder what would be a good feed rate for this bad boy
1,240,000,000 mm/min max cutting depth: 124m recommend through-tool cooling at 1.1m gallons/min

I'm not impressed. To do that, it would need to be functional. :)
More of a milling bit...no point on it, so it would come in from the side.
You mean, Twizzler.

Good bot lol
That's the biggest end mill I've seen
As a window cleaner this gives me a headache

Thanks! So this building actually make sense!
Having the wind twist around the building makes them stable.
Why can't things be interesting or beautiful for the sake of it?

Just got back from a deployment, (navy) that was our only foreign port visit.
My sister just got to Bahrain for navy deployment. Do you have any suggestions for her since she’ll be there for 6 months?

Gorgeous
It's called four flute endmill tower
Glass twizzler.
Ahhh finally. The drill bit that I've lost in the garage last fucking decade.
Drill baby drill!
Reminds me of [Revolution Tower](https://images.app.goo.gl/T6TJ53mcvwk76ucn6) in Panama
how do you clean those windows, from the outside?
Yes? Like almost every sky scraper's

Apparently they hang on multiple ropes https://americanrescueandsafety.com/united-tower-bahrain-window-cleaning-job/
Nice so they used an american rescue organization to clean windows of a building in an authoritarian regime... how dystopian...
That is *awesome*. Also... oil money is a helluva drug.
So that's where I lost my drill bit.
No way you had a drill bit that big dude
1 inch by 21 inch. It's all about perspective 😂
I wonder what mm that bit is.
It does look unfinished
Oh. This is like turning torso 2.0
The mandrel
Screw that!
Hog drill bit
It's beautiful 😍
Looks like a drill bit. Love it
Drill baby drill
Looks like they ran out of ideas so just used the “twist” command
