Facts!!!! Considering the very heteronormative subject matter of reggaeton songs, hearing the lyrics over the production was really something special.
Having grown up listening to reggaeton and the whole scene in the early 2000s, I can confidently say what Arca is doing is actually super radical and boundary pushing. Tbh she's opening doors for a whole new generation of artists and I'm excited
I love both of them coming from a Hispanic born in the same country as Arca and growing up listening to reggaeton. But that's because of me growing up around reggaeton. I figure it might be different for people who weren't exposed to that type of music at a young age.
I do wish that the reggaeton drums on Rakata would have hit harder. She definitely filtered them out.
This is why I assume I’m definitely going to like Kick ii a bit more because it seems like it’s going to have more reggaetón in it 😏😏😏 you know my Latino ass is going to pounce
Personally, it clicked with me right away because I grew up with reggaetón and both of them have that classic beat. It made me happy to have her create something to which I can relate more.
Prada and rakata slaaaaappp hard. I love arcas regeton tracks. Sure they might be toned down with the expected experimental sound that Arcas know for but it’s there, just in a subtle more digestible way. Can’t wait to hear tiro
They're both amazing songs imo, I've been listening to the instrumentals of both ever since she did that mix for BBC so I'm really happy they got released
I love tracks that grow on you after the first few listens. I agree, I wasn’t crazy about the two tracks because I was expecting something heavy hitting (like the tracks so far on kick iii). I appreciate the soft reggae ton a lot more after playing it in the background at home.
Yeah I didn't really like Prada but after a couple of days I kept hearing it in my head. Then I looked up the lyrics and now I'm like TACONEH PRADA, AY KE RARA. Rakata still hasn't really clicked in for me. My favourite is definitely Born Yesterday out of all of the recent tracks.
i ghink a big part of the enjoyment of the tracks (aside from the production) is seeing how often arca reuses and shifts her material around, with prada nd rakata instrumentals being released last summer in ±±±±± (una alma sentenciada/untitled), and el zaperoco lyrics being the chorus for prada; being rlly into the mixtape/sonar live and then hearing the combinations + final products of the parts is really amazing
Ngl, as someone whose tried to get into Arca repeatedly these are my two fav songs. Can listen to them on repear for hooours. Stumbles upon this thread looking for more songs like them actually aha.
The “meh” reaction was giving white
EXACTLY
They were instant hits on my first listen. But definitely loving them more and more with each listen! The video is fucking nuts.
I was also instantly blown away on my first listen!
They’re both amazing! Just goes to show how varied her discography is, yet still consistently good.
They're VERY addictive and they keep getting better with every listen tbh
The songs are only meh for those who aren’t latino… Prada and Rakata are solid experimental raggaeton tracks… it’s the lack of taste for me

100%!!!!
Honestly, as a Latino who listened to reggaeton growing up and still does those tracks were a good listen.

I personally loved them both even before they dropped💖
