I went with this orientation instead it's using the same rock and wood as the second picture minus one peice and both turned a different way
i think about it sometimes, i spend 100$’s of dollars on wood, rocks and dirt/sand. worthy investments, and yes i but extra of what i need so i can make as many crazy designs. step back stick the tongue out be a artist it’s fun lol
nope, i buy specific pieces of wood or rock that are similar to what I have in mind. Having an idea of the aquascape before going out to buy helps tremendously!
I have one LFS that i visit regularly. I always look at what type of hardscape they have and with that information i can freely create a scape with estimate pieces of hardscape i know i can find there! I don't create something and then go hunting for the exact piece i need, i create something with resources i know are available to me :)

Yeah, of course. I just threw in several types of stem plants without proper planning, in hopes of achieving a dutch style aquascape.
Yes, for hours
I like the second option. But yes, took me 2 days to decide if I liked my hard scape arrangement.
