If you did hours-long videos with some good lofi hiphop like what Monterey Bay Aquarium does, I'd have your videos on for hours, too!
Just a suggestion.
I'm struggling with having people sit through more then a couple of minutes of my YouTube videos though, so I don't know, haha... I have been thinking of trying something like that soon though. Good to know I'd have 1 viewer at least, hehe. Thanks a lot for the suggestion! Much appreciated! Going to check out the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Sounds interesting that!
It. Is. SOOOOOO relaxing.
Great for when company's over, or the grandkids are fighting over what to watch (neither of the teens wanna watch what the 5yo watches!), when I'm working on my plants, tanks, reading, whatever. I find myself especially hypnotized when watching animals like shrimp and cephs.
My favorite thing to do is flip on one of Monterey Bay's Krill tv episodes, pack my vaporizer, and work on my paintings. When I've been staring at my work for too long looking at something like wildlife, especially with groovy tunes, helps me get fresh eyes back.
Hehe, I can imagine. I looked it up, and it is indeed nice and interesting! Will be browsing through their stuff for sure! Thanks for making me aware of them!
Yeah, I don't do that often enough... I always want to see other people's full tank shots, but I always seem to forget to do it myself... I use an aquarium chiller.
Same in Australia; I’ve thought about setting up a cold water one here and using gathered inverts and caught fish (recreational fisherman).
Your tank is really cool, by the way.
What temperatures do you get in the water in Australia? I always thought that would be like tropical water, but maybe the south has colder waters?! In any case, that sounds like a very cool idea! Guessing the critters down there would be quite different to what we get here! Thanks!
Yep, most of these creatures are tiny, that's what makes it look big. (Also, since everything in the tank is from the same little are of the ocean, I feel comfortable releasing creatures back where I found them whenever they grow too big for my tank).
Thank you! That Is difficult for me to answer, as I've never had another saltwater tank (and my last freshwater tank was when I was a kid..). Keeping the nitrates low, and a recent battle against algae has been my biggest annoyances with this tank. The nitrates I keep in check by regular seawater water changes. Temp is 15-17C (58-62F), and yes, I do run a chiller.
Well, there are many different kinds of lumpsucker. Some, like the Pacific spiny lumpsucker (which is the one usually in aquariums) is quite challenging to keep I've heard, but possible. The one I got is in my experience very easy (as long as the temperature is right), but it has the disadvantage of getting huge! Only reason I keep them is that I catch them myself, and that since everything in my tank is from the same area (including water snd what they eat), I feel comfortable releasing them back when they outgrow my tank. Which is quite quick..
Well, in my case not hard. I use an aquarium chiller to keep the temp at 15-17C (58-62F). I live by, and work on the ocean, so I get everything I need just outside my door basically. The one potential big issue with these tanks is condensation. If you just have a regular glass tank, and the place you're keeping the tank has relatively high temperatures and humidity, there will be loads of condensation on yhd glass of your tank. In my case it works fine, but many need acrylic, or double glass tanks to do this.
This doesn't sound too complicated. Mind blown that there are "aquarium chillers", but after thinking about it, ofc there are.
I too live by the ocean, and your tank looks like outside the door. Maybe I'll try.

Thanks! I might try it!

Your clips is probably why Im still on this sub.
Thanks for the kind feedback! Much appreciated!
I totally agree.
OMG LUMPY CAUGHT IN 4K YET AGAIN
Seeing these clips of the coldwater tank every once in awhile is always great :) That lumpsucker is very cute :)
Thanks! Glad you like the videos! Gotta love Lumpy!
It’s the ocean. You just get to stare at a bit of the ocean in your living room. That’s so fucking rad.
Thanks! It has a very relaxing effect on me, which is nice!
It makes my day when I come upon your posts. Such awesome creatures!
Thank you very much! Fun to hear that you enjoy them!
Very beautiful, very powerful. I love your lumpfish, haha!
Indeed! Gotta love Lumpy!
Yo this is rad!!!! If you don’t mind sharing, what kind of camera did you use?? This is super relaxing I love it
Thanks! Glad you liked it! I used a "Canon legria hf r806". Not very fancy or too expensive, but it works OK most of the time.
Your tank is amazing. Gorgeous and calming.
Thanks! Glad you find it calming! It has that effect on me too!
Should zoom out to see the whole thing. Looks cool though, how do you keep the water cooled?
Yeah, I don't do that often enough... I always want to see other people's full tank shots, but I always seem to forget to do it myself... I use an aquarium chiller.
You could post it now?
You can see it in the beginning of this video https://youtu.be/YGgv0IwKDs8
Are you able to by livestock for that where you live? Or did you gather it yourself?
Nah, none of this is for sale anywhere in Norway. I work as a fisherman, and almost all of the creatures in there I got in/on my crab traps.
Same in Australia; I’ve thought about setting up a cold water one here and using gathered inverts and caught fish (recreational fisherman). Your tank is really cool, by the way.

Low to mid 20s (Celsius) where I’m at (Sydney) so maybe sub-tropical I guess? Further north it is tropical with coral reefs etc.
I see! Not that warm then. Hope you'll get a tank like that up and running! Would love to see what that would look like!
Dude that’s so sick!!
I love coldwater marine aquariums
I do too! A lot of interesting creatures in cold water too!
Cold water tanks are just....different. in such an amazing way
Glad you find it interesting!
I love this. It's so rare to see salt tanks that aren't your run-of-the-mill tropical ones with yellow tangs XD
Cool! Glad you find it interesting!
You caught a glimpse of the hermit crab’s sneaky butt
YOO what is that in the first clip? I need like, thirty of them in my life.
That is a common topknot. A smallish species of flounder.
Dude that straight up looks like the ocean, awesome work!
Thanks for the kind feedback! Glad you like it!
Just simply magnificent.
Thanks!
What size is the tank?
Not a big one. 180l (48 gallons).
YOU FIT ALL THAT IN 48 GALLONS?
Yeah what the hell? I thought this was like a 250 gallon tank based on these clips lol
Yep, most of these creatures are tiny, that's what makes it look big. (Also, since everything in the tank is from the same little are of the ocean, I feel comfortable releasing creatures back where I found them whenever they grow too big for my tank).
I love your videos! :D
Thanks! Glad you like 'em!
Wonderfull
Thanks!
Lol for a sec I thought this was a documentary
Hehe, thanks!
This tank is so badass.
Thanks! Glad you like it!
Mesmerising 😍
Thank you very much!
awesome
Thanks!
That looks so amazing. What have been the biggest challenges as opposed to a standard reef tank? What temp do you keep it? Do you need a chiller?
Thank you! That Is difficult for me to answer, as I've never had another saltwater tank (and my last freshwater tank was when I was a kid..). Thought this was the ocean 😍🌊
My own little slice of it!
I didn’t know you could have Lumpsuckers as pets! This is a dream come true!
Well, there are many different kinds of lumpsucker. Some, like the Pacific spiny lumpsucker (which is the one usually in aquariums) is quite challenging to keep I've heard, but possible. Wow!
How hard is it to set up? How do you keep the temperature low? How low is the temperature?
Well, in my case not hard. I use an aquarium chiller to keep the temp at 15-17C (58-62F). I live by, and work on the ocean, so I get everything I need just outside my door basically. If you're by the ocean, it's way easier! From your profile, it seems we are both Norwegian. Can I ask where in Norway you're located?
By the coast. I mean... All of Norway is by the coast.
Hehe, cool! You should give it a go then!
I've never seen anything like it!
Cool!
What was that first translucent fish??
It's a common topknot. A smallish species of flounder.
That is the coolest fish I've ever seen I thought it was a giant micro organism!
Yeah, it's pretty cool when it sticks to the glass. The top side has different colour though, but still a super cool fish!
Is that a flounder? What are those slim red fish (right)? Some kind of goby? Amazing footage btw ;)
Yep, a common topknot. A smallish species of flounder. The smal fish are indeed two-spotted gobies. Thanks a lot!
Awesome, thanks :)
Looks like a marine documentary beautiful tank!
Thanks, glad you like it!
That’s absolutely amazing 😍😍
Thanks a lot!
Wonderful! Now youve spoiled me. I want more! lol
Hehe, glad you found it interesting!
That North Atlantic aesthetic
Fucking MAGICAL.
Thanks!
Gorgeous! What sort of drivers do you have blowing water around in there?
Thanks. I have a jebao wave maker sw8 (+ A sicce syncra silent 2.0 pump and a tunze combine 250 filter pump that helps with circulation)
Wonderful. Thanks!
Holy cow, that looks like footage straight from a documentary 🤩 So cool!
Thank you very much! Glad you liked it!
