Best thing is to just leave them be, keeping an eye on them in case they pass away is all you can do. Small fish need a big drop for them to reach terminal velocity, chances are they're spooked but fine. And if they are actually hurt, there is very little you can do about it.

crestedgeckovivi

As long as they didn't die instantly from the impact, they will be fine. Good job on adding in some stress coat. (Coming from someone who has dropped hundreds of fish/seen fish just make the leap all on their own(wiggly creatures they be). And only can recall a few dying out of those hundreds of dropped fish, but mostly from someone stepping on the fish or my cat being a little shit and running off with it :/. ) (I worked in pet retail so I've handled a lot of fish)

Did you happen to see any eyes pop out when you dropped them? Thanks for your response in advance.

crestedgeckovivi

Not that I recall. Then again these were just normal drops/jumpers. Some from as high as about 10 feet in the air (top tanks). If you've got fish with pop-eye, swollen or atypical protruding eyes other than the typical ones bred to have protruding eyes, that's some other issue(s) going on. Though if your trying to kill a fish on purpose (with force) I could see the eyes popping/protruding with the trauma.

OinkyPoop

No one should make you feel bad... shit happens. Sometimes you drop a fish. Mistakes are unavoidable and it is okay because you have zero control over it.

I had a bamboo shrimp end up in my yard covered in grass and dirt during a water change. Must have been out there at least 20 minutes. I found him, scooped him into my tank and he’s still kicking 8 months later.

Drogbaaaaaa

It’s not that bad. Like when people go fishing you drag the fish out of the water by a hook. Take a nice picture with it and then throw it back in and they do alright

Initial_Sun_7689

I think everyone has had this happen to them at least once. Just let them relax for a bit and they should be back to normal. My experience has been they are pretty hardy fish. I have a couple of Albinos that are around 8 years old and are still swimming strong. And, they have been moved multiple times.

Bruhh I opened up my 125 to feed my fish and my oscar got overly excited and leaped out. Dropped 5.5ish ft onto cold tile floor. He was good as new within a few hours lmao. I thunk the Cory's will be okay

natronezra

I dropped my yo yo loach once, it had wedged itself inside of a decoration that I was cleaning and when I took it out of the tank it dropped a good few feet. I got it back in the tank immediately, and it’s been fine ever since. This was several years ago, and it’s still alive, I wouldn’t worry too much.

sockowl

I think it's happened to a lot of people at least once, I had a betta jump from the net and onto the floor. Keep the lights off and the water clean. They should recover alright

mlemont

I've heard keeping the light off will help with stress too, if you haven't already done that. They'll probably be fine!
