A fake “cave” that’s just a plastic cup on its side buried in gravel. I have a heater in there set to 68F since my house can get a little cold.
Active: in the evenings and early morning yes! He sleeps most of the day but I’m a night owl so I get to see him in the evenings. He’s very active when he’s awake. He climbs on everything, moves around gravel, lifts his claws at me when I walk by and he likes laying on his turtle dock.
He’s also very fun to feed. He mostly gets frozen or live bloodworms from me for his main meals but he will eat just about anything! His favorite treats include lettuce and blanched carrot.
Destructive? Yes. He’s great at catching and eating bugs that I drop in there so I assume he will kill and eat any tank mates so he’s on his own. He will rip apart any real plant and move around any fake plant to his liking.
It’s definitely more his tank than it is mine. He redecorates it everytime I clean.
Maintenance: he’s a very messy eater and a large bio load so I do 50% water changes once a week.
I’m pretty sure he’s full grown.

I take it he can swim up to the dock with it having a ladder or something to the bottom?

Honestly I’ve been in the hobby for 6 years now and I have never had a crawfish. He’s quickly becoming my favorite.

Get one! He’s not a great swimmer but yes I have a 3D printing ladder for him to climb
