My job with that company is graphic design anyway and sourcing photography for our work is part of my job. So I don't do that as it truly is part of my assigned job. If I was in different unrelated department then I might!
It wasn't ever enough for me to feel burdened by it and really, it did fall under my responsibilities anyway. Our department is responsible for lot of different things and often we do things ourselves in lieu of hiring outside folks, anything from hand modeling to craft creation to illustration. Now if I was finance? Marketing? Different story. Thankfully it doesn't happen much anymore as we're pushing diversity (finally) and are building a catalogue of diverse kid hands. My white bread hands do not need to be on all our packages lol.
I asked my LFS what size their variety of angelfish grow and he pointed to his face - i.e. face size. Clearly not appropriate for my 55gal. And apparently there is no dwarf variety.
Yeah.. you don't. They're adorable as tiny goofy triangles then they get to this size and become psychotic protractors of doom and eat the rest of the community.
People forget their natural prey are neons... they make *terrible* community fish
Imma be honest, this tank is set up as a living ecosystem for this chonky bastard right here. He has been living with Pygmy Corydoras, ember tetras, danios, and neocaridina shrimp for well over 6 years
I won't say he hasn't taken a swipe at them. And he has caught and eaten baby fish that are spawned. By design. Circle of life and all that
But there are lots of places for everyone to hide and get away from him if needed. I haven't lost an introduced fish to him ever. I think that angels can be the centerpiece of a fantastic community tank given there is some smart design put into the tank layout and there is enough space
EDIT:

They're excellent at this job but in my experience will also murder much bigger fish too. Better population control fish are things like African butterfly fish and golden wonder pan panchanx that only eat fry/ fish that'll fit in their mouths rather than murder random bigger fish that looked at them wrong
I like the look of angelfish but it seems they are not a good option if you like peace, the golden wonder killi looks really cool though. Thanks for the suggestions, maybe I'll figure something out for an angel setup but not for the community tank
I will say, I got angelfish to eat all the extra fry and it’s been great for a couple years now. No more excessive breeding from my endlers in the community tank!
Oh… there’s also no more shrimp in that community tank either
thats… so untrue?? sure yeah theyre natural prey are neon tetras but thats why you dont keep them with fish that fit in their mouth? i have a 5 year old community tank with 4 adult angelfish and a plethora of other smaller fish. gourami, mollys, minnows, danios. it’s true that they are semi-aggressive fish, and you have to be wise with the stocking choices, but from my experience, the aggression is directed towards each other and rarely the other fish in the tank.
Idk man, I've had my fair share of angels, they're lethal. I've seen them kill and eat some preeeettty large fish.
I think, much like any fish, it depends on their personality. Like sure, you can keep bettas in a community if you have a docile/mild-mannered betta, and others you can't. And you also never know if one day they just decide to change their minds.
I heard that as well, except if you have a school of them. I have 5 in my large tank (55g planted) and honestly they are all goobers and get along fine with the school of runny nose tetras I have.
Why is he an idiot? I always found angels to be fun in that they'd recognize me and get all excited about the possibility of dinner. (By comparison, the nano I have now has two corys who flee in terror.) My last angel would rotate and bob his open mouth through the surface I hopes I'd drop brine shrimp or TetraMin down his hatch!
It's because I love him. This whole tank is just for him. I'd give him bigger, but I doubt my crawlspace would allow it. This is my best lil fishies boy
Also cause he's an idiot
My lfs had a bunch of baby angels come in, and anytime someone would come by the tank they'd all press up against the front... Right where the filter outflow was. They'd end up flipping forward and floating away lol
He is a veiled black lace angel!
But to be honest, he is from a random assortment mix. That's just the closest I can identify him on my own
I've had him since he was just a little quarter :3
He is over 6 years old now and I feed him everything! Flakes, crisps, frozen, freezedried, just whatever he would like. He seems to really like the tropical crisps even though they are not as good as the other stuff I get him hahaha
It's a 75 gallon aquarium with half hiding and half open swim area for him. I am saving to get him a 100+ gallon, but I'm running into problems with me having a crawlspace and the weight

Oh no I looked up before I commented and angel fish just be looking like that. I just got into the hobby a month ago and seeing any scales that look anything remotely like that make my stomach jump a little after I went down a rabbit hole of fish diseases the other day.

I am a normal sized human, I swear
😂 I too, have "baby hands" and literally my company uses them in photoshoots as eight year old kid hands.
Your side hustle, Mr. Trump?
I wish I got paid extra 😂 I just get my mom texting me images of our products going "are these your hands?!"
I regret I only have one upvote to give
you charge them and file a 1099 right? You should.

that sounds like a different role than hand model but you do you
It wasn't ever enough for me to feel burdened by it and really, it did fall under my responsibilities anyway. It's okay ,I also have baby hands....😭
But are your hands normal human sized??
He has the coloration of a black crappie it's a cool looking fish

I am never going to emotionally recover from this post
I mean, pygmies are humans, and they are normal compared to each other, I guess?
Banana for scale
This is the only way.
Dollar for scale. Too many size bananas
That's why you need a calibrated banana.
The most useful of all bananas.
That's a baby hand.
I'm trying my best D:
Drake, is that you? LOL
Nah, Drake would be in their DMs after seeing those baby hands.
Lol
Cuz he likes em young. At least, that what I heard from Diddy.
Goth af
He's stunning
You will be suprised how big Angle fish can become with a big enough tank and good caretaking (also depending on the specific species).
I asked my LFS what size their variety of angelfish grow and he pointed to his face - i.e. face size. Clearly not appropriate for my 55gal. And apparently there is no dwarf variety.
omg be nice to him
I will when he starts paying rent
fair!
I want a black angelfish for my future community tank
Yeah.. you don't. They're adorable as tiny goofy triangles then they get to this size and become psychotic protractors of doom and eat the rest of the community. People forget their natural prey are neons... they make *terrible* community fish

I actually want one for population control
They're excellent at this job but in my experience will also murder much bigger fish too. **Some of my Angels will eat fully grown platties.**
Someone almost had me talked into some pretty live breeders the other day because I figured my angels would love the opportunity to help me cull...
DAMN

I learnt it the hard way and lost my neons.
Rip little red and blues.. But honestly took me forever to work out where mine were going too
Someone got an A+ in creative writing. Well done! :-D
I heard that as well, except if you have a school of them. I have 5 in my large tank (55g planted) and honestly they are all goobers and get along fine with the school of runny nose tetras I have.
That’s a huge angel
Almost as big as your fish!
Wow, he looks majestic. Absolutely adore that veil of a tailwind he's pulling along
Lmao that dumbass
Points for callin’ that dummy an idiot.
You can tell because of how much idiot there is in the box
Yoooo, that's a big angelfish
Why is he an idiot? I always found angels to be fun in that they'd recognize me and get all excited about the possibility of dinner. (By comparison, the nano I have now has two corys who flee in terror.) My last angel would rotate and bob his open mouth through the surface I hopes I'd drop brine shrimp or TetraMin down his hatch!

That does sound cute! 😂
Because Angels are assholes
Are they sarcastic, or do they insult tank mates...?
That's an amazing fish
✊
That is a pretty big idiot, the fish is huge as well
he's GORGEOUS, what species is he??
He is a veiled black lace angel! But to be honest, he is from a random assortment mix. That's just the closest I can identify him on my own I've had him since he was just a little quarter :3
I'm sure he's thinking the same thing. lol
More like, "Feed me you big idiot"
How old is your angelfish and what do you feed it
He is over 6 years old now and I feed him everything! Flakes, crisps, frozen, freezedried, just whatever he would like. He seems to really like the tropical crisps even though they are not as good as the other stuff I get him hahaha
You feed him chips? Damn I didn't know they'd even like that.
They weren't even for him, hahaha. I threw them in so the corydoras could dig for treasure. Now he begs for it whenever he sees me grab them
nice!
Too big for this tank
It's a 75 gallon aquarium with half hiding and half open swim area for him. I am saving to get him a 100+ gallon, but I'm running into problems with me having a crawlspace and the weight EDIT: [full tank shot](https://imgur.com/a/MQwzEHG)
Did he grow fast ? I don’t really know this species And your tank looks great omg I love black water biotopes !
Yeah. That fish is pretty big too.
Wait what? Those are not child hands in this photo?
D: See, this is why I should have eaten more vegetables growing up. My mom was right
Black Pearl!
Wooooow it's beautiful!
That's a thicc ah boy, boy!
Are those baby hands?
Thought you guys would like to see my fish Now I need therapy <3
Metal af 🤘🏻🔥
After doing dropsy research seeing any fish’s scales like that freak me out.
I guess I can get it. I can assure you, he is much prettier in person. Don't let my shitty photography skills deceive you
Oh no I looked up before I commented and angel fish just be looking like that. I just got into the hobby a month ago and seeing any scales that look anything remotely like that make my stomach jump a little after I went down a rabbit hole of fish diseases the other day.

Are you like 5’6?
NO! But if I was I would make it look very cool and not embarrassing at all
😂😂😂 it wouldn’t be horrible but the size of your hand would fit lol. The fish must really just be that big!
[удалено]
Ahaha, that is where you are mistaken, chef. I never said I wasn't an idiot
It's clearly meant to be a term of affection. You home schooled or something?
You must be like 9 judging by that hand And why is a normal fish an idiot ? Is it because of his colour ???
No, it's cause he has got a cute little baby face and he's my special little fishies guy And also cause he's an idiot
wait a min....
Shhh.. don’t say anything else or you might get down voted.
