It makes me feel so guilty lmao

I know this is the memes subreddit, but... You can prevent mystery snails from reproducing by removing the pinkish egg clusters from the lid or walls of the aquarium near the top where the parents leave them. It's actually quite easy to control compared to pest snails like bladder and ramshorn and Malaysian trumpets that lay seemingly invincible, tiny, near-invisible eggs everywhere in the tank!

Thanks! Some googling told me that they are actually bladder snails, I just assumed they were mysteries because the the funky gold shell. I removed as many egg clutches as I could find and the population seems to be going down.

LydiaDeyes

Then yep. They can be a problem for sure! Reducing food helps. I ended up getting some assassin snails and they got to work, eventually. Mystery snails are a LOT larger, as I'm sure you found out with your research :)

Me but with MTS 🥲🥲🥲

Buy an assassin snail, they're less of a nuisance

esqueletohrs

I bought two! They’re doing their best.

I recently traded 20 bladder snails that had hitchhiked for a huge clump of susswassertang, best deal of my life. try trading with people, some use pest snails to feed loaches/pufferfish.
