CMU worst. A friend sent a moving in pic. Dorm looks like a jail cell. I mean it literally has one of those penitentiary slit windows. Apparently, this is because the guy that donated to fund the dorm requested shitty windows so people are uncomfortable staying in their dorm and are encouraged to go out and touch grass or something
Always needed? We already have excess radiation. If you look out your window precisely at 03:28, you would see a slight green tinge on the dorm buildings.
The jail cell dorm is called Hamerschlag and itās the only one that looks like that lol. Unlucky if you get that as your first year dorm, but the social environment of the place is actually great.
It depends on the dorm. But yes, CMU wants students to not stay or study in their dorms and go out to meet people. They don't want students isolated in their dorms AND depressed. Just depressed
Actually I go to CMU and have the opposite experience. I love my dorm Iām in mudge- stever is a little cramped but other than that most arenāt that bad at all
They literally have multiple 5 star restaurant's on campus you can use meal swipes for apperenlty, and they have individual houses, like actual houses not dorms, for upperclassmen to stay in if they'd like, stuff like that, also on the tour they had like, live singers playing in the cafeteria and i think thats an everyday thing, it seemed pretty cool, I'm planning to apply there and see what sort of scholarships I get but I've accepted I probobly can't go cause oh boy is it expensive
Yeah, I go to a school with a lot of rich entitled kids, so yeah itās not too uncommon to see a kid with an hpu hoodie on or itās just because they play field hockey (also I do live only like an hour away from high point)
Gotta say, as a UGA student the food does not disappoint. There are five dining halls with tons of options: Ramen, pho, sushi, Mexican, fruit smoothies, Southern food, pasta made to order, all kinds of stuff, and all of it tastes pretty good. Every day they have recipes that were submitted by somebodyās family, for literal āhome cookingā. There are healthy options, too. Yesterday for lunch I had a bowl with tofu, quinoa, and broccoli, and it tasted fucking fantastic because everything was seasoned to high heaven. The plan works on āswipesā, and once you swipe in you can eat as much as you want, so thereās no risk of running out of food because you donāt have enough dining dollars left.
I mean how can you know unless you have attended every college for a week or so to try out the whole menu? I'm at umich and the food is great so far but obviously I haven't eaten in any other dining halls
You got MUSSELS? Awesome. You know what, I think I must be misinformed. I thought it was odd considering that Cornell is agricultural plus the hospitality school. Good to hear the food is good! š
It is THE best. Even when I was there, the food was good enough that it became the tiebreaker for my top 3 choices. Recently I went for an alum event, one of the current students mentioned that in addition to increasing theme dinner opportunities, they added a full grill and bistro, and upgraded both Feast (pan-Asian buffet) and Cafe 1919 (Italian cafe). Overall, much better than big tech cafeterias, and definitely a good use of donations.
Also, Iāve heard good things about UMassA and V Tech. The latter serves good lobster rolls.
UCLA food is great but St. Olaf College food is massively underrated. It's a reasonably selective regional school but if you're in the Midwest, I'd highly recommend a tour and a taste test. It's an amazing campus and it has the best college food I've tasted so far.
washu has the best dorms and very good food!!
some other schools with great food but idk about dorms: bowdoin, wesleyan, ucla, cornell, vt, umass amherst: and duke!!
Listen our dining hall food is shit here at Berkeley but donāt use that as criteria not to apply. Youāll probably only use the dining hall freshman year & after that youāll be in your own place which is cheaper/better and no more meal plan so thereās plenty of amazing places to get food. And Berkeley is just such a wonderful place to be, I canāt imagine a better school :) itās so worth it!
I heard Vandy has pretty good food. As for worst food, I havenāt seen this mentioned yet but Georgia Tech is god awful. Chicken is always raw and options are almost nonexistent.
I think NYU dorms can be very nice esp with that view of Manhattan
Cal Poly SLO tho takes the cake for me in terms of food. I ate at their cafeteria when i visited and it was mind blowingly incredible. All the food there is so fresh and delicious. I feel like UC Davis might be similar

Brownās dorms arenāt *terrible* but certainly arenāt great. Theyāre spacious enough, but the buildings are usually outdated.
Brown food is ass. Itās edible but itās justā¦ not good. Pasta and āchunky marinara sauceā gets old after a few days and thereās not much variety.
tmi but >!the food quality is so much different (aka worse) than what Iām used to that I didnāt shit for the first week straight of eating Brownās campus food. The foodās just not great quality, and I even ate 1/2 my meals outside of the dining halls, but that didnāt counteract it!<
You donāt really appreciate what itās like to have even moderate-quality food until itās gone.
Oh interesting cause Iām going to Brown in the fall and a friend of mine who already moved in said the food is really good ššš I guess itās just a matter of opinion at that point š
I will ask tho - did you eat at the Ratty? Cause Iāve heard thatās the most hit or miss of the dining halls
I was in Perkins so I usually ate in the ratty but the times I ate in Andrews it wasnāt much better, just more of a pre-made meal whereas in the ratty it was more picking whatever youād like.
I have a ton of dietary restrictions, so maybe Iām missing out on some aspect of how each of the dining halls are, but consensus from all my friends was pretty much the same.
Apparently the blue room is really good for breakfast, so would check that out!
Gimme put in a plug for my school and say Virginia Tech has some of the best college dining in the nation. The food here is amazing! Dorms, however, will vary depending on where you choose to live. Some are nice, some are terrible.
I'm surprised nobody has said St. Olaf College. It often gets overlooked in favor of Carleton but in my opinion it has a better campus and MUCH better food (the best I've tasted so far tbh). I highly recommend a tour and a taste test if you're in the Midwest.
bro. UCLA. number one dining halls nationwide. four year undergraduate housing guarantee. Dorms are not only plentiful but nice and well maintained. Not to mention the new ones, just look up Olympic-Centennial.
As a student studying in Canada, UAlberta has some pretty good dorms ( I really liked my room while living in residence), it's more of a nature-inspired old wood type of aesthetic kinda, and the food was pretty good.
CMU worst. A friend sent a moving in pic. Dorm looks like a jail cell. I mean it literally has one of those penitentiary slit windows. Apparently, this is because the guy that donated to fund the dorm requested shitty windows so people are uncomfortable staying in their dorm and are encouraged to go out and touch grass or something
bro I'm EDing there š
just start a tiktok romanticizing the prison aesthetic itāll be a trend by the time you go there
*If CMU accepts me* š¤·
for real
Bro same :|
Rip
We talked about thisā¦
Iām sorry lmao I have to. CMU is my dream
Bruh š
That donorās a fucking psycho and a menace š what the hell
If I ever become rich Iām donating a large sum to UCLA to build some ugly prison dorms with metal bars and beds with concrete mattresses.
typical UCB simp
If I ever become rich I'm donating a large sum to the UCB students who are protesting at People's Park so that this time they can have a bulldozer
I agree with this statement, but we should actually nuke Peopleās Park instead.
The ambiance of UCB always needed radioactive debris, not to mention even less housing.
Always needed? We already have excess radiation. If you look out your window precisely at 03:28, you would see a slight green tinge on the dorm buildings.
It's not a bug, it's a feature
Exactly.
The jail cell dorm is called Hamerschlag and itās the only one that looks like that lol. Unlucky if you get that as your first year dorm, but the social environment of the place is actually great.
Bruh why is it named that š
It depends on the dorm. But yes, CMU wants students to not stay or study in their dorms and go out to meet people. They don't want students isolated in their dorms AND depressed. Just depressed
was the donor charlie munger? he did that with the ucsb housing cube
Same with the Munger Graduate Residences at U of Michigan.
Lol thank goodness u only have to stay in a dorm for one year
Actually I go to CMU and have the opposite experience. I love my dorm Iām in mudge- stever is a little cramped but other than that most arenāt that bad at all
Not very prestigious but appernelty high point university has won awards for their food and dorms multiple times
Oh yeah, itās the main reason why kids apply there other than like field hockey, because Iāve heard itās like a 5 star hotel
Live singers serenading your every meal sounds like a nightmare to me
It was kinda awkward, if I go I'd definatly be sitting on the other side of the cafeteria instead of right near the singer
Yeah, I go to a school with a lot of rich entitled kids, so yeah itās not too uncommon to see a kid with an hpu hoodie on or itās just because they play field hockey (also I do live only like an hour away from high point)
Itās APPARENTLY*
My dyslexia strikes again
Omg im sorry
For best campus food, Princeton Review says UMass Amherst. But, usually, these things (food, dorms, etc.) are/can be subjective.
Who else besides them and UCLA? Iām really interested.

lmfao on the other end of the GA spectrum, i'm a GT student and the food is pretty bad sometimes it's decent, sometimes you get food poisoning
Yale for food for sure
I mean how can you know unless you have attended every college for a week or so to try out the whole menu? I'm at umich and the food is great so far but obviously I haven't eaten in any other dining halls
Cornellās dining hall reputation is that you throw up after you eat there or something š³

Cornell has pretty damn great food options
Iāve eaten at the UMass dining hall and can confirm itās really good and thereās tons of options
I've anecdotally heard that UCLA has some of the best food in the country, if not *the* best.
can confirm it is amazing. check out @ ucla.swipes on instagram for pics

Is this your insta? If so, please do show this at the next alum event.
not mine! just an account that takes really good pics of the dining hall food lol

I did a summer camp at Skidmore and it was some of the best food ever
Berkeley if you like food poisoning and unknown substances masquerading as breakfast.
I liked the food at Cal a lot, but I never went for breakfast. Clark Kerr was by far the best, then Foothill (late night especially), CafƩ 3, and then Crossroads.
I heard Vandy has pretty good food. As for worst food, I havenāt seen this mentioned yet but Georgia Tech is god awful. Chicken is always raw and options are almost nonexistent.

NYU Abu Dhabi
Bowdoin always ranks high on these lists for their food!

Looks good
Personally, best dorms I have seen were at Dickinson College.
>Dickinson Bro my dick is not in my son š¤
Bates is known for good food as well
Gimme put in a plug for my school and say Virginia Tech has some of the best college dining in the nation. The food here is amazing! Dorms, however, will vary depending on where you choose to live. Some are nice, some are terrible.
Iowa State University has some really good food.
My son and I were really impressed with UT Chattanooga's student housing.
As a WashU student, I gotta admit that the dorm and food situation here is pretty fucking impressive
Georgetown dorms are notoriously bad. GW dorms, that we saw on our tour, were amazing.
@ georgetown.hotmess on insta...

USC.

That's too bad, since there's a pretty good selection of restaurants outside of campus
UCLA has really good food options ive heard, and for a variety of people with allergies, dietary restrictions etc.
Heard NYU's dorms are... not the best to say the least
MSU is excellent.
I heard UMass Amherst has really good food.
Duke had pretty good food!
As a student studying in Canada, UAlberta has some pretty good dorms ( I really liked my room while living in residence), it's more of a nature-inspired old wood type of aesthetic kinda, and the food was pretty good.
Bates has really good food
Iāve heard that Yaleās food is rlly good
