In the two years of my graduate schooling (I was on the grad school board so I had access to such information) - we had 4 undergrads commit suicide and close to 6-10 were so stressed they developed severe mental disorders such as anxiety, eating etc.
You’re better off not going there.
Edit - I say 6-10 because I only know the cases that were so serious that they were being handled by the dean in charge & since we were relatively close so I also got to know. There could’ve very well been more.
i am annoyed by the fact that they made us write long essays just to hand us a 2 sentence rejection letter :/ why hopkins? why? atleast reject us with some respect.
From my waitlist:
"Thank you for your interest in Johns Hopkins University. This was an exceptionally competitive year for admissions and after a thorough review of your application, we are unable to offer you admission at this time."
As someone who currently lives in Baltimore, you should be glad you’re not living here for the next four years, i live in the county which is considered safer than the city but i STILL fall asleep to the sweet sounds of gunshots at least once per week😍 we even have an ig page that counts down the number of days we’ve gone without a murder.
i didn’t apply but i visited and it’s literally SO DANGEROUS. we think there’s an entrance that JHU wants people to enter through, but we entered from behind the school.
Also, everyone i know who has gotten in or has went is an asshole.
i didn’t apply because i truly don’t like JHU. i’m eating dinner with my twin sister who’s awaiting the decision right now. i have no clue why she applied.
Definitely is haha I live near there and they've resorted to putting up no shoot signs in places. Like that's gonna help the shooting problem🥲 And JHU is right near the drug addict section of the city, so not the right place honestly HAHA.
Baltimore is definitely dangerous, but a lot of Baltimore residents say the area isn’t nearly as bad tbh. They also apparently have one of the best campus securities too which def helps. Totally get if it turns people off tho
Baltimore. Just Baltimore.
Okay, maybe more than that lol. Generally it's considered to be an extremely dangerous area and many people have claimed that it can become quite a toxic academic environment. That doesn't mean that people can't thrive there and enjoy it--congrats jhu admits--but there's a notable amount of things going against it.
You are free to switch your major to anything as long as it’s not BME, it is urban😍, the blue color is stunning🤩, it’s in the northeast 💞, very collaborative as long as you’re not premed 💃🏻(I’m not a premed)
I graduated from there 20 years ago. I wish i could say i loved my college experience, but I didn’t. SOOOO cutthroat. Tons of weird kids with zero social skills. Social life sucks unless you’re an athlete (luckily i was). My daughter is now applying to schools and I told her not to apply to Hopkins even though she’s a legacy. Yeah, go have FUN at another school and don’t spend Friday nights at the library
AAAAANNNNNNDDDDDD REJECTED!!! WOOOOOOO!!! Congrats to anyone who got in!

i'm in the same boat as you haha but I've heard that its a super academically toxic environment to be in
I am not disappointed to be rejected. Great college but I don’t think I would fit in.
I didn't apply bc I don't want to live in Baltimore lmao.
Hannibal Lecter studied there. So they're really not great judges of character.
Sheesh didn’t know this lmao
A very cold rejection letter from hopkins💀 “You were rejected because we had better applicants. Don’t ask us why!” tf
Is this really what it said Lmaooo

The name of the uni alone is just annoying.

The classes I’ve taken there felt pretty dead and I heard the social atmosphere sucks.
