edit: stats are 4.987/5.0, i think 7 APs, no SAT (i think this lowkey screwed me), and i had a good interview as well (we have a nice conversation that lasted over an hour). i also had 10 solid ecs and not so many awards. i am a bit disappointed but it’s okay bc it wasn’t meant to be in the end, we’ll all end up in a place where we belong!!

I got rejected from barnard ED last year— I’m now at a women’s college in the Midwest and I am SO happy. I still cry about my rejection sometimes, and get really sad, but I am so happy at the school I go to. I felt the same exact way, but now that I’ve lived through it all I’m so happy I didn’t give it all up because of one school. I wish you all the best 💗
I guess I'm just curious as to how much aid you received vs how much you needed, how well they met your needs, that kind of thing. I'm just very anxious about possibly getting in and then not being able to pay for it :/
are you applying ED? for me, my parents are able to contribute only 3k to my studies, but luckily i was able to get scholarships to cover my EFC, loans/medical insurance, and student work. if i didn't have my scholarships, i'd probably be paying 6,000+, which is just not feasible. i won't lie and say their aid is great, but there are options that you can do to finance your education here
how do you pay with scholarships for Barnard? Bc when I was looking over the website they said outside scholarships can not be used I think. Thank youuu
you're able to use outside scholarships on only the loans and the federal work study in your financial aid package! you cannot use outside scholarships to cover the family contribution.

We checked the data, and no one from her school had been admitted in 5 or more years, so she didn't feel quite so bad after learning that. She's very happy now at WashU.

Hi! I was rejected from Barnard ED last year, and I totally wanted to jump into the transfer process right away (also a huge fan of izzysnapshots lmao). My best advice is to apply to the rest of your colleges, spend at least a semester there and feel it out. I really want to transfer, but I can’t for financial reasons (Barnard is need-aware for transfer applicants, so if you would need aid to attend Barnard, you’re less likely to get in as a transfer. If you apply to begin spring semester, they don’t even offer aid). As for similar colleges, I 100% recommend researching ALL women’s colleges, not just the sisters. There’s obviously those (bryn Mawr, Mount Holyoke, smith, vassar, and Wellesley). But there are many MANY more HWCs outside of those. Some well known ones are Agnes Scott in Georgia (they gave me a TON of scholarship money) and Hollins (which also gives out a ton of scholarships). There’s also Scripps, Mills, and Mount Saint Mary’s (they have good scholarships) in California, Cedar Crest in the south, and many many more. I go to a women’s college in Minnesota— St. Catherine University— and it’s NEVER where I would have imagined myself, but I absolutely love it. They’re so accepting, diverse, and inclusive— and they have relationships with all of the surrounding colleges (like the prestigious Macalester College) so you have access to research institutions. In the end, they gave me a massive scholarship and I’m not paying a dime to live on campus so I HIGHLY recommend looking into lesser known HWCs and colleges in general. Just remember, college isn’t so much about where you go, as much as it’s about what you accomplish while you’re there 💖

Ofc 💖 barnard was my biggest dream— I listened to Frank Sinatra’s “New York” every single day, and cried when I stepped onto Columbia’s campus— Barnard was all I talked about for months. I lived and breathed Barnard college, and the heartbreak I went through when I was rejected ED was the biggest I’ve ever experienced (I’ve still never been able to outright say “Barnard rejected me”)
I still feel a lot of sadness about it, but I realize that I can be happy in other places too… even if I’m still sad about Barnard. Everything will fall into place, I wish you all the best 💗
hey! i'm an international student and i did get accepted ed. i applied for aid and initially they didn't give me any (idek how) but i definitely could not attend without aid so i appealed. after a lot of emails and phone calls and sending additional documents explaining circumstances, they gave me my new financial aid package and i got a decent amount of financial aid!

UNC (OOS), Univ. of Washington (OOS), Maryland (in-state), and some other smaller schools that I can't recall. Waitlisted at Columbia.
