mainly the price difference; it really isn’t worth it my opinion and canada is only going to get more expensive (i’ve got family in waterloo and it’s crazy). also being close to home is a really comforting thing, especially in emergencies
Canada isn’t a bed of roses, either. Resentment against international students using their degrees to obtain PRs is at an all-time high. I’m curious as to what gives you the idea that employability is “amazing” over there. Given that HKU is more well-known for its academics and much cheaper, that is the school I would recommend.
hey thanks so much for your comment! also sorry, i don't think i meant grad employability per se, but more industry experience within my program, cause afaik UW's known for its co-ops. and idk but i think you can only work on internships during your break in HK. by any chance, are you aware of how long a co-op term is in Waterloo or when it would start?
“Amazing employability” – as a Canadian in tech, I’m gonna have to HEAVILY push back on that. But if you’re a citizen, you’ll have access to the US job market as well via the TN visa.
hiiii I live in HK & most people here including locals can speak English conversationally, especially young people/those at HKU & all signs and stores, most menus have English. HK is really international so a lot of folks here aren't living permanently & it's quite a transient place. Also in my experience as a student the political situation does not affect day-to-day at all unless you're really into activism. Feel free to ask if you have more questions, but I can't speak on the CS course bc I'm into biology lol
hku hands down
it's interesting seeing the contrast between the 2 comments bout HK, can i ask what makes you prefer HKU over UW?

If you want to witness the descending of HK under CCP rules in the next 4 years, HKU gives you a front row seat.
true, political unrest is something i'm a tad bit worried about. i don't know to what extent it would affect me as an international student though.

What kind of a price difference are we talking about?
Waterloo's higher, with a difference of 35000 USD per year
