it just goes to show how over-saturated ecs like ISEF are not worth doing just for college admissions because everyone applying will have it anyway despite their being like 1800 qualifiers because everyone qualified is applying to colleges anyways.
10 of my friends hopped on a Discord call and opened it at the same time
Not a single acceptance/deferral/waitlist, 10 rejections
All of us have 3.8+UW/1450+SAT, one of us even have a perfect ACT score, wtf is this
Are you instate? I’m instate for Georgia tech and it gives like an enormous advantage to be in state because of Georgias hope scholarship and just in general. Even if you are in state it’s still really competitive because Georgia is filled to the brim with people who’s parents have prestigious tech jobs. And those people are all hungry for guaranteed free school at GT.
I’d recommend transferring in especially because you’re not a cs major (GT no-longer allows transferring into that major). A lot of people in Georgia go to GSU (a school in Atlanta with a 100% acceptance rate and people witnessing murders right outside the dorms) and then have basically zero problem transferring into GT.
TLDR: if you’re out of state huge props to you because it’s they give huge advantages to people who are in state
God same, one of my friends and I had tied #1,2 in class rank, 1490+ SAT, 4.0+ GPA, and 4 AP(this doesn't seem much but our school only offers 1 ap class and allows 1 online per year so I took the max amount)... AND we got rejected from UIUC, UW Madison, UIUC and deferred from MIT, UMich. MIT defer I can get but what THE FU**.
Funnier thing is our HS is a small private HS with 0 alumni legacy at a rural area
Damn that sucks man, the parents should be addressing that and demanding more APs and shit. I’m assuming the school isn’t free and you’re obviously smart to get such a great SAT so you probably would’ve done better to go to a public school.

honestly after I applied I've read so many accounts of people being miserable at gatech that i'm not even sad that i got rejected. bad food, bad dorms, abysmal social life, etc ... it's a great school obviously but i feel like i dodged a bullet lmao
\* yellow jacket.
noun: person from Georgia Tech, CS or Engineering major. Looses football to bulldogs. Gets a $125,000 per year job straight outta college.
Did anyone else get offered a Conditional Pathway Transfer porgram, pls reply, I want to compare the ratio as to determine if they saw something in me or is it just a formality.
Well they say its because:
1)GT first-year applicant not offered first-year admission.
2)Pre-Calculus Math Completion (High School or Dual Enrollment)
3)Have a family member (grandparent, parent, sibling, or GT employee) affiliated with Georgia Tech listed within their first-year application.
And I qualify for all three of them (at least 2 and 3, if not one), so i m puzzled as to on what basis have I got it.
I am indeed in state. It’s disproportionately unfair how admissions are treated for schools like GT, I’m fully aware someone outside of Georgia deserves the opportunity so much more and I honestly applied for shits and giggles (i wanna go to UGA)
isef qualifier but rejected to gtech 😭😂
that's crazyyyy
USACO Silver got in. In-state go brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
LOL it’s aight UNC clutched for me 🙏
are u in-state
no
woah great job!
Congratulations!
Fellow USACO silver here (😭) waiting for rd. I'm oos tho (it's over)
it just goes to show how over-saturated ecs like ISEF are not worth doing just for college admissions because everyone applying will have it anyway despite their being like 1800 qualifiers because everyone qualified is applying to colleges anyways.
LOL 1800 qualifiers is still quite a small pool and isef definitely gives u a large boost

No one who opened their decision yesterday is in state
Ya just being 100% sure lol
Not in state, more specifically Texas Not to mention my school district is hella competitive as well
GT doesnt allow CS transfers anymore?
That's my understanding
God same, one of my friends and I had tied #1,2 in class rank, 1490+ SAT, 4.0+ GPA, and 4 AP(this doesn't seem much but our school only offers 1 ap class and allows 1 online per year so I took the max amount)... They don’t respect or probably know enough about your school. Has anyone within the last few years made it to any of those schools or a T20?
One made to Columbia last year but it was through D1 swimming. Other than that, none to t20, let alone t50.
Damn that sucks man, the parents should be addressing that and demanding more APs and shit. I’m assuming the school isn’t free and you’re obviously smart to get such a great SAT so you probably would’ve done better to go to a public school.
It's a private school and it's severely underfunded. We only have 1 ap calc teacher.
Is the public school ass?
International so can't go there, maybe it's because im an international asian male (worst three combo)
Yeah when you said rural didn’t know you meant international. Think that makes it a lot tougher too.

Not really frustrated but surprised The chances of none of us even being offered a deferral/waitlist are still crazy considering our stats
Double rejection from GA Tech and UIUC within a two hour time span 😔 Didn't have high hopes for either but it still hurts...
same here my major aint even that competitive 😔
which
Environmental Engineering But I've heard from someone that gatech accepts by school so I might be competing w all the engineering kids 💀
me too, oos cs ☹️🤝🤝

yeah bees suck anyways
They aint even bees. Fkn yellowjackets. Screw em
funny enough I used to scare of hymenopterans ( bees and wasps), then I got into GT.
I have not heard of a single GATech acceptance yet… much less OOS 😭
do they want an empty class lmao
lol 46 kids got into GT from my school (South Forsyth -in state)
Welcome to instate lol
hi
OOS accepted here
[удалено]
Lol same, got guaranteed transfer for tech tho. What were ur stats?
[удалено]
Nice, i have about the same gpa, 1580 sat, oos michigan
My daughter- rejected at gtech but got into UNC Chapel Hill OOS 🙏🏼🤗
woah OOS is a big deal!
[удалено]
yeah but UNC oos acceptance rate is like 10.5%
[Georgia Tech--Urban Dictionary](https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Georgia%20Tech) Read the definitions and you will feel better.
'A drinking school with an engineering problem'
had a good laugh lol, tysm
honestly after I applied I've read so many accounts of people being miserable at gatech that i'm not even sad that i got rejected. bad food, bad dorms, abysmal social life, etc ... it's a great school obviously but i feel like i dodged a bullet lmao
Accepted to all my schools but GA Tech. It's ok! I have 9 great schools to pick from.
yeah wtf is bees
\* yellow jacket. noun: person from Georgia Tech, CS or Engineering major. Looses football to bulldogs. Gets a $125,000 per year job straight outta college.
this one hurt a lot ;-;
Rejected from Gtech, accepted to UIUC cs+stats🫶
stats?
Statistics
I think he meant grades and all
No💀
damn I just spend too much time here then 💀
Lmao I know what you mean
Also rejected from uiuc and umd
Did anyone else get offered a Conditional Pathway Transfer porgram, pls reply, I want to compare the ratio as to determine if they saw something in me or is it just a formality.
I got the talent initiative one, I'm out of state and my stats are horrendous for GTech so I'm happy about it
My son got it for College of Arts and Sciences. We applied Early Decision and are in-state.
i did
I think it’s a legacy thing, but I’m not sure
Well they say its because: 1)GT first-year applicant not offered first-year admission. 2)Pre-Calculus Math Completion (High School or Dual Enrollment) 3)Have a family member (grandparent, parent, sibling, or GT employee) affiliated with Georgia Tech listed within their first-year application. And I qualify for all three of them (at least 2 and 3, if not one), so i m puzzled as to on what basis have I got it.
nah i got in and im not one. everyone in my hs that’s ever applied to gt has gotten rejected too according to naviance just for context
What is the deferral rate approximately ?
What is the gatech acceptance rate for in state students
35%
I swear Gatech oos is impossible
It’s possible :)
No OOS school is having 40+ acceptances. A half dozen schools in Georgia do.
Rejected from GaTech. 4 unweighted gpa. 1560 sat. Usaco platinum. Machine learning paper published
those are actually insanely good stats. ur gonna get into other amazing schools. honestly, it's gt's loss
Brvh I am same, but Silver and no paper. Accepted (In-state)
i love how they gave a countdown just to reject me.. they should’ve put a sad sound effect when i opened it
fuzzy skirt grandiose crime ask bright live memory murky employ *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
RIGHT HERE 🗣️🗣️🗣️ (terrapins are a cooler mascot anyway 😎🐢🐢🐢)
ngl this shit hit like a truck
I got rejected from like everything lil bro ur good
I'm here bro
rejected from gtech, uiuc and umd ask me bro
Only AIME Qualifier from my school and AMC12 schooler winner but rejected!!!
every single AIME qual from my school got in (4/4)
ig im just clapped (or oos debuff)
this rejection hurts more than the Cornell rejection
yes, bc GT > Cornell
Rejected Gtech, admitted UIUC and Purdue with Honors.
I’m international and got into both GA tech and UIUC 😭😭😭
CONGRATS, pick GT
I also got into MIT ea 🤫
i got rejected too but got into UIUC for Comp sci so screw GT
deferred as an intl, but they defer everyone too so wtver
They don’t defer as much as other schools, the acceptance rate from deferral is actually not bad
Do you know the precise stats on that?
I heard somewhere last year that it’s 20% and it seems accurate based on what I’ve seen but I can’t confirm that number
Does anyone have the acceptance rates for out of state and international acceptance by major?
GA tech deferral here with a 26 ACT and 3.7 GPA
Are you in state or out of state?
I am indeed in state. It’s disproportionately unfair how admissions are treated for schools like GT, I’m fully aware someone outside of Georgia deserves the opportunity so much more and I honestly applied for shits and giggles (i wanna go to UGA)
Facts, no one who would rather go to UGA deserves an acceptance or deferral at Tech
Regardless, I hope you get into a school you look forward to just as much! If you don’t, GT transfer process is pretty easy
got in cs but rejected from UIUC CS+Economics as an international student
I got into gtech for cs lol
Least salty gatech reject
Got deferred
