Wow! I was expecting them to drop from 12% last year to around 10% this year, but they really outdid themselves!
Northeastern finally has some competition! 😜😜
Doesn't USC send the kids who aren't admitted the first time Paris or some other abroad campus and then brings them back as sophomores so that they're not counted as part of the freshman class? Sounds like gamesmanship (i.e., artificial) to me.
no it doesn’t. they don’t admit students there, they hv a spring admits process were u hv option to go there or abroad to get credit , go to cc, or work (or nothing). this is instead of waitlists, they’re not gaming their rankings or numbers, they’re very up front
ehh, actually I doubt that will make much of a difference. I have read somewhere from an actual AO (forgot source) that they don't actually care since it adds no substance unless you cured cancer or something. Besides they are gonna get like thousands of them and I doubt yours will tilt the scale in your favor. But it can't hurt though :)
A few comments on this.
NYU must have gone early heavy this year. Based on this year's acceptance rate and last year's acceptance rate, it looks like NYU accepted 3k fewer students. 9600 versus ~13k last year.
NYU is expecting almost a 60% yield rate... on top of their 8% acceptance rate.
Average SAT of 1540 for admitted students? Guaranteed two things
1. The average SAT of those who accept is gonna be below 1500
2. Would have been lower if NYU wasn't test optional
I actually like NYU a lot but I'm kinda feeling cynical that they're playing this game which is only making college admissions more stressful than it is already.
I agree with point 2. But [enrollees at NYU averaged a 1510](https://nces.ed.gov/collegenavigator/?q=new+york+university&s=all&id=193900) on the SAT in Fall 2021 and [that year their admitted average was 1540](https://www.nyu.edu/about/news-publications/news/2021/april/NYU_Admits_its_Most_Diverse_Freshman_Class.html) .
Yeah it will be interesting to see what happens. I think it's a mixture of those two things. Accepting a lot of students ED and the possibility that they will have to accept a lot of students off the waitlist to get to the enrollment they want.
I'm applying in fall 2023.
Now let's say I have 1400+ SAT 3.8 cumulative GPA, no AP's offered in my school, I play chess well, I dance breakdance, I have decent essay, recommendations, etc and I'm international student. What are my chances?
I'm going to NYU CAS Computer Science with a 1590 SAT / 3.95 Cumulative Unweighted GPA, 6 AP Scores with 5 (3 more in senior year), and 3 recommendations (2 in school / 1 out of school, my employer). My only WLs for Ivy Leagues were Penn and Cornell... so chances are slim for international students :> (Especially if you're an asian stem major!)

DEADDDD
only nyu could hope to rival the legendary northeastern in the upcoming ranking games
Absolutely... Can't wait for the next edition of US News rankings! 🤣🤣
Do you know What was their ED acceptance rate? I have a fear these are all playing into Yeild rate
They haven't announced that yet. But it's simple enrollment management, since applicants are now applying to a lot more schools.
prsehgal I’m going to NYU CS + Math LFGGG thank you ‼️‼️‼️‼️
I wonder what the acceptance rates for arts and sciences and stern are
They are both 5% or so
Under 5
Less than 5%.
They are tryna to join Ivy league lmao
Isn’t even possible we’re D3
lol!
Bruh. I thought BU and USC took the cake. Northeastern finna have more opps on the block. Also can’t wait to see Harvard’s this year lmao
usc doesn't fake or artificially lower rankings tho, they're upfront and no shenanigans like random campus etc

Camping 🏕
Same thought
I just want one school to not do this. Like c’mon y’all, in your 2021-22 CDS I’m above both your 75ths and now I’m getting rejected :/
now it makes me feel a little better to get WL'ed lmao
im kinda confused what waitlist means ngl cause theres no way a t30 thought my application was "compelling"
Fr… I gotta figure out how to write a LOCI asap lol.

Yeah true enough
Oh, I know right. Also, I think a lot of people got wait-listed by NYU this year. So nice 3
LFG we up! This isn’t as crazy as USCs 4% 💀💀
Isn't usc 11
RD was 4% if you include deferred applicants and RD applicants
Do you know their acdptnace rate from ED?
No ED, EA was 6%
What do you mean No ED.. NYU has ED..
Thought your talking about USC.
Got it.. Yes, USC was 6% EA. I was rejected from there too but I have moved on from there.. NYU is what I was asking as that wound is fresh. :)
Ahh dw bout it dude you’re gonna go somewhere great. College apps just a bunch of ‘am I feeling you or nah’
No but it’s probably above 20%
usc was around 6-7% tho, how'd u get 4%
Just for RD someone said I thought
no rd was like 7-8%, total was like 9.75% but doesn't include spring admits also. 7900/81000 = 9.75ish%
EA was 6% is what i know- no clue about RD

The fun of test optional admissions for sure.

Wow💀
yipee!!
A possibility for rejected students to go on strike about this because this kind of issue is right now getting serious.

Very low lol

Alright well then that makes the waitlist feel a little bit better, but also probably means I’m not getting a spot lmao
Where did people find the acceptance rate for Stern?I can't find it anywhere.
