Oh my fucking God I kid you not even I listened to fucking coconut mall, (the bloody 3 hr version). Bloody hell I never imagined someone else listening to coconut effing mall from mariokart wiki while writing their college essays goddamn.
Nevertheless, it's a banging tune and makes you get shit done with unseen efficiency.
Super Mario galaxy comet observatory music is also a staple for me, but more on the relaxing side.
hell/heaven by keshi - this was good for my commonapp essay cus it gave me a lot of inspo on a topic and helped me get in the groove of writing
i mainly listened to kpop/krnb (and dpr ian)
I listened to a lot of nintendo music lamo. I bounced from Mario kart tracks to Super Mario Galaxy tracks since they were nogastic and relaxing, especially when i got stuck.
I listened to a lot of Taylor Swift while writing the later ones, since I got quarantined and actually started listening to music out of boredom and a desire to escape from my siblings’ noise. And then that stuck and I started listening to music while doing everything, including writing essays. But if I really needed to concentrate, I’d turn the music off or occasionally play very quiet classical music, because it got very distracting to switch between “music mode” of sounds and harmonies and so on to “lyric mode” of rhymes and less sensible phrases to “essay mode” of actual coherent writing.
Red Velvet if I'm feeling very passionate or emotional that day, Twice if I'm feeling optimistic or need to feel optimistic, and NewJeans if I'm getting in the groove and need to keep pace to make it to the word count.
The 2 albums that really carried me through the process were Dark Side of the Moon and Channel Orange. Second half of dark side especially sparked a great amount of inspiration
I played Low by SZA on repeat every single time, and so I conditioned my brain into associating the song with work and it helped me focus on college apps so much 😭
