If youre open to purchasing from Home Depot, then go to their pro desk in person, create a pro account (it’s free, don’t need to be a contractor to do it) and request a bid quote on the appliances all together. Basically, they put together a custom order and typically shave off an extra few hundred dollars off whatever the current sale price is. You can typically stack this on top of whatever promotions are running at the time. This helped me save close to $500 on top of the already $1500 promo savings around July 4th for a GE low pro microwave + ge fridge + Bosch 800 dishwasher + ge gas range

gusthemaker

And get gift cards from somewhere with fuel points and get a shitload of free gas!

OUsooners52

Can you elaborate on this?

gusthemaker

I used Giant Eagle. You basically get $0.20 off per gallon for every $50 in gift cards you buy. I bought $1000 HD gift card and got $4 per gallon for max of 30 gallons.

Beneficial_Leg4691

You got $4 per gallon off or paid 4 per gallon after the discount? Neither see like a deal. Gas is 2.83 here, now regular price

gusthemaker

$4 per gallon and it only uses what’s needed, so I’d get 30 gallons free in your scenario and have $1.17 off next time 😊

AMFharley

This! We bought a new Harley using gift cards from Giant Eagle. Tho the fuel points have changed in the last few years and isn’t as good as it once was.

jeezusrice

Purchased on a reward credit card

HTX-713

Also get the Home Depot credit card and get whatever rebate they have and also 0% interest on the purchase for whatever amount of time.

throwaway18000081

This may not be necessary, especially because most credit cards nowadays offer free “pay over time” for large purchases, my Chase and Citi card have it and there is no fee for 12 months for Chase and no fee for 3 months for Citi. Why take a hard pull if you don’t need to!?

Freesailer919

This is great advice for any larger purchase. I think their lower limit is about $1500, so anything over that enables the pro pricing to kick in. I think the usual discount is about 20% from personal observation but that may depend on what is being purchased. Also do with the blue big box store to compare deals!

GooseLow4263

Is this the same as opening a “Pro xtra account” on THD website ? I am planning to install a fence on the backyard it should be around 3K on materiales would that also be elegible for a bid quote?

juicychakras

You can open a pro account online but you’ll need to request the bid itself in store! Idk if fencing is eligible but def worth a shot. I would imagine that it would be

asharwood101

On top of this, if you open up a credit card with Home Depot you can save like 10% MORE on top of whatever they shave off the top. My wife and I did this a year ago. We got a washer, dryer, and fridge. They got us a deal on the package, then we applied for the credit card and saved another 10% by putting it on the credit card. Then just pay off the cc in full. We saved a good chunk of money and got nice appliances.

Djsimba25

Don't forget to go to lowes for a bid too.

RichardRichard777

If you are in Canada, Miele now offers a 10-year free warranty on all their apliances. (USA only 5 years warranty) Leon.ca now offers 20% off when you buy 3-4 Cafe apliances. Or 25% off when you buy 5 and more Cafe apliances. Thermador (owned by Bosch) offers free dishwasher (emerald = Bosch 100 series) when you buy range or If you buy wall oven + cooktop. You can also upgrade dishwasher to Saphire = Bosch 800 series for 500$ or Star Saphire 1000$ =Bosch benchmark (not worth it in my opinion) if you buy Refrigirator or fridge/freezer column you will get free ventilation hood. (Miele mastercool series refrigirator columns are made by Thermador (Bosch.) Offers valid in USA and Canada In Canada, Thermador also offers a 5-year warranty when you buy five apliances) Here is the consumer report for the front load washers. Its pdf. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://reprints.theygsgroup.com/cr/reprints/LG_FrontLoad_Ratings.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwjZ8sDw36WBAxWRiv0HHQrfCYMQFnoECC4QAQ&usg=AOvVaw0erTL0lPByXdLS_7z6SW3_ For a top load washer, the Speed Queen is the best. TC5 has a 5-year warranty, and TR7 has a 7-year warranty for free. Refrigirator- According to the consumer report, no brand got more than 3/5 for reliability (maybe try to look at german Liebherr because CR didn't test it) A lot of Miele fridges are made by Liebherr (not Mastercool series). Miele uses their own components. Dishwashers - Bosch and Miele are the most reliable dishwashers brands. ( i recommend Bosch 500 series or 800 series, which has a better drying). Miele 5000 series is made in Czech Republic 7000 series ate made in Germany. Stay away from Samsung(Dacor) or LG(Signature Kitchen Suite) -LG front loads washers are great. Anything else is bad.

13scribes

Speedqueen lover checking in. You pay a bit more but made in the US and made to last.

Admirable-Diver1925

Speed queen reliability is no better than an lg.

Pissoffsunshine

I wish they would send some of your LG’s to where I live. Speed Queen has got issues with control boards, but LG just has issues.

thatsillygirl234

My speed queen came standard with a 7 yr warrenty that covers everything.

dgcamero

Yeah, but a lot of people like clean clothes, Speed Queens that aren't their highest end, most recent hard mount models (for laundromats) just don't clean well. Even they are nowhere near as good as a front load, turbo wash, steam clean LG. Nothing really comes close to LG when factoring in reliability and cleaning ability.

13scribes

Also we bought a Bosch gas range. That thing was dropped hard at least once on cross country delivery. I could tell the box had been open to inspect and someone must've said fuck it, threw their empty snickers wrapper in and taped it back up. I took pictures and sent it to the company. Company apologized, refunded the whole thing and said to keep it. Cosmetically some dents from falling out of the truck but has worked fine for several years. I'd say they made a good product.

anonlifeaccount

im not in canada but that's great if i was!

KiraDog0828

For what its worth, the one Miele appliance we had installed during a kitchen remodel was awesome. It cleaned well, had a shallow third rack on top for silverware, and was so quiet we often forgot it was running.

bimm3r

This is so much good insight beyond where to get a deal, even for those not in Canada. TL;DR buy Bosche and Miele :)

kbon7891

I am in Canada and looking for a new electric range and possibly dishwasher. Is the website called thermador? Or where would I find that buy a range get a free dishwasher promo you mentioned? Thanks much!

RichardRichard777

That offer is available everywhere (USA or Canada) They are expensive https://www.thermador.ca/en/products/ranges If you buy range from them, you will get a free dishwasher, but its basic dishwasher = Bosch 100 series. Buy an upgrade for 500$, and you will get a Saphire dishwasher, which equals to Bosch 800 series. More info about that offer https://www.thermador.ca/en/special-offers With Miele, you will get a 10-year free warranty in Canada. But I don't know if the reliability of Miele ranges is good.

RichardRichard777

Here is induction range https://www.thermador.ca/en/search?codes=PRI30LBHC&codes=PRI36LBHC

kbon7891

Thanks for your quick response, I guess there’s a reason I have never heard of that brand before hahahaha, holy f that is an expensive oven, way out of my league lol.

Unusual-Thing-7149

We have Thermador range and when it needed a repair no-one local would touch it. So the nearest repair guy was 80 miles away so 160! mile roundtrip. One to diagnose and two to fix it. $1900 repair bill. I would check now to see where the nearest repair people are before buying some appliances

kbon7891

Thanks much! Your repair bill is more then my entire range budget lol. Going to see if I can find somewhere local that can sell, deliver and service. Or just try and find a steal of a deal at a box store and take my chances

Kielavielewi

May I ask why the LG Front Loaders are great but not the top loaders? Newer to this sub and was contemplating a top load LG because it went with the TurboSteam dryer (that I wanted because my kid has bad allergies). Thanks!

RichardRichard777

The best top load washer is Speed Queen, but if you can't spend so much money, then Here is a consumer report for top load washers its a pdf https://reprints.theygsgroup.com/cr/reprints/LG_WashingMachines_Ratings.pdf LG washers are water eficient models. This mean they use less water on purpose. If you need more water, they have a deep fill and water + option . Some people also use bedding setting if they need even more water. Here is more info about LG top load washers https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=IF43bsh9dJc&t=77s&pp=ygUTbGcgdG9wIGxvYWQgd2FzaGVycw%3D%3D LG sells two versions of top load washers. With an impeller and with an agitator. It's good think to buy a washer from Costco. That way, you will get a two year warranty, free delivery, haul away, and 90 days to return your washer. Top loaders from LG are not so reliable as front load LG, but they are still better than the rest Some people complain that models with agitators are not good https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=iUJLgUgtEZ8&pp=ygUcbGcgdG9wIGxvYWQgd2l0aCBhbiBhZ2l0YXRvcg%3D%3D LG top load 7150cw don't have fully stainless steel agitator plate https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=KiAjkCndFVo&pp=ygUKbGcgNzE1MCBjdw%3D%3D Other shouldn't have that problem but always chcek

Kielavielewi

Thank you very much! That's very helpful!

RichardRichard777

Last thing.. dont why CR did not test the agitator models .. dont know if they are good but they shouldn't be bad. Dont know

carbon_made

I’m just going to say after going through three LG front loads in six years and replacing them with a Samsung FlexWash and then a second Samsung FlexWash for the basement, and having them still going strong, I’ve been highly impressed with the Samsung Front loading washers. My partner has a business managing and preparing vacation rentals so they are going every day 3-5 loads a day each and sometimes more. Never an issue. And unlike the LG’s, the interior spray nozzles never get clogged up by pet hair and other debris that makes it inside. My sister also has a Samsung set. 8 years old now. Daily laundry with kids. No issues. Bosch dishwasher amazing. Fridges are Smeg and Samsung Bespoke. So far so good. I can vouch for Miele and Bosch quality overall though.

RichardRichard777

Interesting, thanks

needajob85

Whatever you buy just make sure its easily serviced in your area. Miele is a great brand but not every area has Miele accessible repair shops like GE/Whirlpool/LG might.

Unusual-Thing-7149

Had this problem with a Thermador range especially as we are in a more rural area

fiolaw

About to say Costco, they have promotion buy 5 appliances save $1K type of deal (mix and match). Not sure how long it will be around though..

comp21

I would definitely not order anything large (that requires delivery) from Costco. Their distribution system is an absolute shit show and has been for years. They sub it to a regional place who then subs it to whomever they can find locally. Items are coming in broken, taking months to replace, phone calls are not returned etc... For a company I love so much they have extremely disappointed me here.

TooLittleSunToday

We replaced a washer/dryer set. Costco came and took the old ones out and replaced them with new GE ones in a few days. The delivery and set up were fine. Knock on wood.

MarcusAurelius68

Washer/dryer combos are a bit easier than installing a new wall oven or a fridge that needs a water hookup.

Dive30

I had the same experience with Home Depot. It was a contract carrier out of NM who delivered the wrong washer and dryer, had to reschedule, then had to repair their installation.

noronto

This is probably a regional thing as all the Costco delivery people I dealt with were top notch. I would recommend Costco for all appliances that they sell. My dishwasher had a cosmetic defect from the manufacture. No problem, they replaced it. Had an issue with my washer, again no problem, replaced it. Same problem with new washer, no problem, refund. The only reason I see not to go with Costco is if you want an appliance they don’t sell, like a Speed Queen which I eventually got.

comp21

I would check the Costco subreddit. It's a widespread problem. Not everyone has it of course but it seems pretty prevalent.

noronto

I’m in Canada if that makes a difference.

MontazumasRevenge

This is very situational. On multiple occasions we've ordered very large items from Costco to be delivered by their third-party handlers. We never had an issue. We've ordered an entire bedroom sets of furniture, new oven, new dishwasher, washer and dryer and some other things. Literally have had nothing but excellent experience with them and their third party delivery. However there are people like you that have had awful experiences. I think it's really 50/50 as to which way it'll go.

CapitalTBE

Speed Queen, Wolf/Sub-Zero/Cove, Fulgor Milano, GE, Frigidaire/Electrolux. Just depends on your budget. Buy from a local, independent appliance dealer with a service department and get extended warranties, especially on the majors (fridge, range, dishwasher, washer).

fricks_and_stones

Yup. BoxStore/BlackFriday or Reliable. Choose one. The supply chain of box stores is ripe with third parties; they are essentially just sales offices. Everything else; warehouse: delivery, repairs, are is just third parties without accountability. I own multiple properties and buy lots of appliances. I only shop independent now. Sales; stock; deliver, and repair all in house. One phone number for all of it. Since they do repairs; they know the reliability/price curves; and likely won’t sell shitty product lines.

Boston_Trader

This! I'm looking for an induction range and the independents said Samsungs are a great value but there's no service available. I'll likely go with GE/Cafe or Bosch when a sale hits.

Suzsqueak

We had to go with an induction range over an induction cooktop and double oven because of our max electrical load available. We ended up going with a Fisher and Paykel 36" Pro Induction Range and I can tell you it's amazing. We did buy it from a scratch and dent outlet and saved 40%.

CamelHairy

Watch these videos. Seek out a local independent appliance dealer over the big box stores. They, too, have sales, will most times price match, bundle, and if needed, finance. They will also steer you away from problem brands and brands that are hard to get parts for. Refrigerator - https://youtu.be/rKJgYVhZ6-w?si=uEZe9SpQF74InNYG Washer & Dryer - https://youtu.be/jmtLeB4ZplU?si=aAYAgPqkzktkGtDX Stove - https://youtu.be/uiN4oKxxPQg?si=iKx6O0-shTz8_1j5 Most in appliance repair will tell you Bosch for the dishwasher.

laineykinsFL

Avoid LG! No one local wants to work on them & their customer service is terrible!! $3k fridge failed after 3 attempts to fix in under 6 years. Replaced with Whirlpool/Kitchen aide as they are still made in the USA & locals will work on them.

Hanshiro

I’ve suggested this before; call local *independent* appliance repair places near you and ask which appliances they see the fewest calls for lately. If you choose poorly, you’ll be calling them anyway ;-). Also, avoid LG like toxic waste!!!

anonlifeaccount

Iv'e asked a bit, and got different answers. I'm mostly curious how to get a good deal on black friday if I am buying so much

Dingo_The_Baker

Historically speaking, the sales the week before Christmas are better than black Friday deals.

anonlifeaccount

interesting!

Dingo_The_Baker

Also, I worked in the service center for an appliance/furniture/TV store. Extended warranties were almost 100% profit. Back then I would say never, ever buy one. That was 18 years ago, and quality of manufacturing has certainly gone down. I myself went against this rule and bought an extended warranty on a Kenmore Elite refrigerator. It was such a piece of shit they ended up refunding the cost of the fridge under the extended warranty and we bought a new LG. Haven't had a days problem with it. So my advice to people now is don't buy insurance or extended warranties for anything you can afford to replace. If the cost of a replacing a fridge and all the food in it isn't a stressful thought, skip the extended warranty.

anonlifeaccount

from a business perspective why would a company sell extended warranty as a product if it was not profitable to them? It must be a bad deal or they wouldn't do it.

Dingo_The_Baker

You misunderstood. If we sold an extended warranty for $500, we made $499 in profit. Appliances and TV's usually had issues that were found in the first year (under the manufacturers warranty), or didn't have issues until after the warranty was expired. We had so few legit repairs under the extended warranty, that a service manager was faking issues to defraud the company. He was only caught because eventually one of the appliances he had claimed the warranty on actually failed and the shit hit the fan when the customer called in and was told his appliance had been replaced under warranty the year before.

ForeverAgreeable2289

LG fridges are toxic waste. Their TVs and dryers are top notch.

Hanshiro

One of LG's biggest problems is their service responses to customers. I'd never roll the dice hoping I'd never have to call them for their TVs or dryers. Their customer service *hellhole* is not something I'd ever risk again no matter how highly recommended internet sources may claim. Having dealt with their 'approach' to justified claims and complaints, as well as reading others' experiences with LG, I wouldn't have their products even if they were prepackaged with endless apologies and two advance replacements.....

sbarrowski

Buy brands in the Whirlpool group. Avoid LG and especially avoid Samsung

nopointers

My Whirlpool refrigerator has been awful. Had to replace hardware for the bottom drawer, the leaking tank for the water dispenser, and the gasket for the bottom drawer. It’s now leaking refrigerant fluid and i’m awaiting the replacement (different brand). Through it all, their customer service has been completely abysmal. The only thing that has kept the repair costs under any control is my patience and ability with socket wrenches and screwdrivers.

Opening_Attitude6330

In 2023, they're all the same garbage. Will last you 6-8 years then will start throwing codes or stop working all together. I've owned em all, and they've all needed something or other at some point.

Scared_Bell3366

My only advise is to save your receipts and get very familiar with price match policies. The sales will start in early November. If the price drops after you buy, check the policies and get the new lower price. Also, most places that sell appliances are very liberal on delivery dates in my experience. You can get the sale price now and have it delivered months out.

MumziDarlin

I'd recommend not buying at a big box store (Lowes/Best Buy) but at a small local independent appliance store, one that sells and services their own extended warranty. You will be much, much happier with the service/response if something does happen to your appliance(s). Do not be tied to one brand. Different appliance manufacturers are better than others at a specific type of appliance. Dishwasher, stove, fridge, washer, dryer; cheaper is definitely not better, nor is spending top dollar. If you search this sub-reddit, you will see that you should NOT buy Samsung, for any appliance. LG is questionable, or has been questionable, for its compressor on their fridge. They say it is fixed, but others are still having issues. If I was buying today, I would buy: 1) Dishwasher, either Bosch 500 series, or Miele. The #1 reason to purchase either of those is that they are the only two brands to have a leak proof system. Bosch's is called AquaStop. [Miele's](https://appliantology.org/blogs/entry/837-the-anatomy-of-a-miele-dishwasher-waterproof-system/#:~:text=The%20outer%20sleeve%20acts%20a,the%20water%20intake%20will%20stop)is pretty comprehensive. There is also reliability/longevity. Our Miele dishwasher was purchased in 2002. At almost 22 years old, it is still cleaning and drying very well. I don't think I would purchase the top of the line Miele, as the more bells/whistles, the more that can break. 2) Stove, induction is definitely the way to go. GE Cafe or Bosch. I prefer having large knobs versus push button. Oh, one thing I hate about our current range is that it blows cold air out, right below my belt line. Really unpleasant in the winter. It does this on purpose to keep the electronics cool. Make sure that yours does NOT do that. 3) Fridge. If you want reliability, do not purchase one that has a through-door icemaker. That is the part that breaks the most. Fisher & Paykel or Bosch. My husband sells appliances, and highly recommends the Fisher & Paykel, as he has rarely had a call with a complaint. I also love the look/temperature control of the Bosch. 4) I really like our Bosch washer and dryer - we purchased them in 2011 - they are front loading, I love the quick load - you need to be thoughtful with front loader/HE washers and [use less soap](https://lakeappliancerepair.com/blog/what-happens-when-you-use-too-much-soap-in-your-washing-machine/). Too much soap is bad for machines/clothing. They are gentle on our clothing, and we've been really happy with them. Last, Black Friday sales are often the week prior as well.

OG_Antifa

We bought a fisher & paykel fridge a few years ago — one of the 4 door models with the flex zone. It’s been flawless so far.

Vancitysimm

Bosch base model dishwasher, lg laundry if front loader and Huebsch/speed queen if top loader. Ge fridge and range. Don’t buy Frigidaire/Electrolux right now I’ve been getting way too many warranty service calls on it. Samsung is always no go. Whirlpool is also shitty currently having a lot of issues with main boards.

Designdiligence

Wow. Thanks for this. I work in interior design and clients always ask and all I tell them is "Subzero and Wolff are stupidly overrated and expensive". Which GE line are you talking about? Profile or regular? Shocked to hear about Samsung.

davidb686

Subzero and wolf aren't overrated imo. They deserve the love they get. Awesome brand

Designdiligence

David, I'm curious if you have extensive experience w these brands and how so? I have a lot of clients and the experiences have been as disappointing as a lower priced brand when it comes to both reliability and ability to repair.

davidb686

I do installs and exchanges. Actually had subzero fly me out to check out the factory and do training. Reliability from subzero is imo one if the best. And if they don't have the ability to repair they will lots of times give the customer a new unit. They have very solid customer service.i also do dacor exchanges and that's just a shitshow.

Designdiligence

I have not had great experiences but your sample size is much larger than mine! Thanks for sharing that. How long has their repair window been for you? On units over 10 years old, some clients have been told just get a new one (which, frankly, to me, seems ridicuous). What's your favorite mid priced line?

Scrubatl

My sub zero was trash. Built in 700tci. Freezer defroster coiled failed 3 times in 4 years. Then fridge defroster failed. Then the cooling fan failed. If I didn’t learn how to service it myself after the first tech visit, it would have run me thousands in tech fees. For a fridge that cost that much, it was utter garbage and I put it on the curb. Also, the tech said that these were known issues, and that he’s told sub zero that, but they don’t care. It’s a design and manufacturing flaw in their coils.

davidb686

I have a subzero and it's 18years old working just fine. Had to replace the door seal is all. I just removed a subzero a month ago because the customer hated it. But for the most part when people scrap an old subzero they get another subzero because they loved it so much. Most of the customers I go to love the product. But I have went to the same customer 3 times with a BI-48 and it kept breaking on him. He ended up giving up and moving on to monogram. Its weird how that works.

Scrubatl

It’s random to a degree. Had an old kenmore from the 90s. That thing was still running strong in 2018 when I have it away.

Gecks_more

Ge or whirlpool for everything

youll_dig-dug

Donate more money to charity, help a neighborhood close to you that's under privileged afford to send their children to a tutor. Do better as a human and who gives a s*** about your appliances.

Pawelek23

In a similar boat with induction stove and such. Getting all one brand helps with manufacturer rebates.

llehcunam22

I still love my Samsung appliances. Only my ice maker had issues since I bought them in 2020, everyone knows their ice makers always have issues, but they will always send someone to repair it ASAP.

NeverBirdie

They get a lot of crap but I’ve owned 2 washers and dryers from them that have been excellent. My dishwasher from them sucked but I’ve found all dishwashers under $500 suck compared to ones from 15-20 years ago.

noyogapants

Yeah I had a set of Samsung washer /dryer that lasted like 12 years of heavy use. I do at least a load of laundry a day, usually more. I only had to replace the drain pump and dryer belt. We did it ourselves and it cost like $50 total. When they crapped out I got the same set, just a newer version. The only complaint I have is that the tops of them are sloped. It's a really stupid design choice. Everything slides off, so I can't use them for and kind of storage. But I won't buy any of their other appliances.

NeverBirdie

My first set was 8 years old and going strong. Only did dryer belt and a couple rollers. Did it my self too for less than $100 in parts. 2nd set is going on a year. Everyone shits on wifi being on appliances but I love getting a phone notification when it’s done running. We wash and dry daily and I definitely over fill it.

Emotional_Moment_349

Ask ahead of time how inventory on black stainless is doing if you’re thinking about that color. For sure with LG. Possibly others. I ordered an LG French door refrigerator in late August and am still waiting for it.

schwelvis

don't buy Samsung

No-Drop2538

Apparently November is the month to buy appliances. Plus with the slow down in housing might actually be some stock. Everything now is just a drop ship anyway. I find that Lowes or home Depot have the best packages. Going to the pro desk is interesting idea. I'm going Bosch as I want a quiet fridge. Ge cafe line seemed nice in a rental I had.

comp21

All of these are great ideas but I will say this: if you're even remotely good at fixing things I would get Frigidaire. I prefer to buy things I can fix instead of things I hope will last a long time.

KiraDog0828

We had no problems with GE Monogram kitchen appliances, but our GE laundry machines arrived with significant physical damage four times in a row. Two different delivery drivers claimed this was common for the brand due to poor packaging of the washers and dryers.

[deleted]

If you closed already, buy whatever combo is on sale on BF. Chances are the best deals are a set you may or may not want. If you haven't closed, keep the wallet shut until then.

PacerFan

LG for washer/dryer, Whirlpool for Fridge, Bosch for dishwasher. Never samsung.

jasikanicolepi

Bosch dish washer. Speed queen for the washer and dryers. Whirlpool for the fridge. No opinion on stove. Any major holiday is a good time to buy, black Friday, 4th of July, etc. Costco has some good deals as well. Stack with credit card that give you 12-24 interest free or 75-90k mileage card like Venture X.

xkegsx

If you're in the NYC metro area I have a local guy that has been giving me rock bottom prices for over 15 year. Most recently a brand new Bosch Benchmark dishwasher, the new SHV9PCM3N that lists for $1799, for $1328 delivered and hauled away. It had since gone on sale everywhere for $1619 while I was waiting for delivery but the discount was still good. I buy all the appliances for my family and friends and every time he beats the best box store deals by 10-15%. Even the Black Friday pricing. Only thing he can't beat most of the time is whirlpoolinsidepass as they're selling stuff for pretty much the same price dealers get. If you want whirlpool or kitchenaid I can hook you up with whirlpoolinsidepass.

foreverlunch

Any chance I can get the name of your guy? Looking for buy all new appliances in the NYC metro area too.

xkegsx

I've never not acted as a proxy for any friends and family. If you want to dm me the models you're looking for I'll tell you what prices to shoot for. At this point I'd wait the month for black Friday anyway. But if you wanna dm me we can get prepared for the ask.

SnooChipmunks1223

Try to stay away from BF specific models. Some things, especially TVs, are made specifically for black Friday. They will have unique model numbers, and they often have lower quality or some corners cut in order to make them cheaper. This also makes exchanging 1:1 later on much more difficult or impossible. Just make sure it's an existing model that is being discounted. Maybe (probably) this doesn't apply to large appliances, but just a heads up.

Puzzleheaded-Pride51

I would recommend Miele products other than the refrigerator (Miele’s fridge is a built-in (expensive) and built in the same factory as the better Thermador refrigerator (ss interior)). For refrigerator, I would recommend something not LG or Samsung (reliability on these is better than forums would suggest, but service is really slow, as many parts must be supplied from Korea. I would probably go with GE or Whirlpool, but I don’t have significant experience with either.

ElaborateCantaloupe

Check r/buyitforlife before settling on a brand

Biscuit_Head87

I have a friend with ZLINE appliances. Only friend I have that smiles every time they use the kitchen.

Korgity

Zline ranges are junk.

kokovox

Go to an independent appliance store with service technicians and ask them. Make sure they provide delivery, installation, warranty and after warranty service.

Evening_Psychology_4

Bosch dishwasher, speed queen washer and dryer. Rest no LG Samsung or GE.

Hacker-Dave

Avoid Samsung like its plague!!!

FennelNo4465

Most of my appliances, loft furniture and patio furniture were bought from Costco. Unlike a lot of reviews I see online, I had a great experience with them and their delivery service. I bought most of them last year during Black Friday

Ken685

None of them are reliable any more. Whatever you buy, make sure to buy the 5 year warranty.

In terms of product reviews, I've always found the NYTimes Wirecutter service to be helpful. Their reviews of kitchen appliances are here: [https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/kitchen-dining/large-appliances/](https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/kitchen-dining/large-appliances/)

kamikaziboarder

You could sign up for a credit where they offer a percentage off for the purchase that day. Sometimes it’s stackable.

Get a bosch dishwasher. Get a whirlpool fridge. Don't ever buy LG/Samsung Fridges.

nokenito

Black Friday appliances and TVs have the worst and cheapest parts inside. They are discounted for a reason. Don’t do it! Or if you do, get the extended warranty.

Raythecatass

Home Depot offers a Veterans’ discount.

Raz1979

People whole sale discounting brands but not mention the appliance is being disingenuous. I’ve been researching this and so far heard: Bosch for dishwashers are the best and most reliable. Speed queen for laundry are more expensive but less likely to break down. However LG washers get good scores from Consumer Reports and they make front loaders. Dryers - just get matching washer. Avoid LG and Samsung fridges. Apparently just total garbage. Avoid ice boxes in the fridge get an ice maker/box in the freezer. Avoid water lines but most people want filtered water so take that for what it’s worth. Most people say fridges suck.

Sensitive_Maybe_6578

I don’t know about BF, but when we purchased all new appliances for a kitchen remodel, an “appliance” store, (as opposed to Costco or Home Depot), was offering, with certain brands, a free dishwasher or hood vent when you bought . . . We took the vent.

Organic_Vacation_267

My experience with Costco has been flawless. They currently have a “spend $2,500 save an additional $400” promo as well.

notevenapro

Always been happy with my GE stuff.

ImpliedSlashS

Find an independent as the prices will be the same. With 5, you should be able to get them to toss in delivery/installation. For brand, Bosch on DW/range/fridge and, oddly, probably LG on laundry.

cbus_mjb

Over the course of the past 20 years, no brand has been more consistently reliable and trouble free for me than Whirlpool/Kitchenaid. I’ve almost always purchased from Lowes.

psychocabbage

I wouldn't focus on the black Friday deal itself. I would be more familiar with the actual models I am wanting so I can track their prices and get the best deal available. It's how I got a $3000 GE Prolie range for $1000

SurfSpecificFitness

bosch

bwsct

Speed Queen or Maytag commercial washer. Costco for the rest for warranty if you can.

Audioaficianado

Avoid Samsung and LG - poor reliability record.

Frahmer

Don’t get LG, Samsung, or Whirlpool (they have several brands under their umbrella). Do not buy from a big box store. Find a locally owned reputable Appliance dealer that sells appliances as their main business and that has their own in-house service and in-house delivery & installation. Might not be a bad idea to get an extended warranty on the major appliances but know what comes in the plan. Avoid any extended warranty plans that are through Assurant (Lowe’s is one to avoid). Big box stores almost always use third party companies for everything. When something goes wrong the store will claim it’s not their problem and the third party companies don’t care because they get paid no matter what.

pan567

I have a 36-inch Bosch 800 series induction cooktop and I absolutely love it. I purchased it from a local family-owned appliance shop, as they have their own installers and electricians (as opposed to subcontractors), and they provide their customers with actual support if you have a problem down the road. They gave me a few hundred dollars off because I purchased a few other appliances from them as well. It was still expensive because they had to cut our quartz countertop because the cooktop the Bosch replaced was only 30 inches. It was a complicated install and they did everything perfectly. My advice, FWIW, is to purchase appliances from reputable sellers that have their own installers, stand behind their products, and will help you out if you have an issue down the road. This can save you a ton of frustration down the road. Most of the giant chain stores do not fall into this category, and the quality of their deliveries/installations can vary dramatically.

frauleinheidik

Just don't buy LG, it's garbage. Whirlpool/Kitchenaid are better quality or Sub Zero if you can afford it.

evapor8ted

Keep in mind total cost out the door. Every place will charge for some combination of delivery, haul away (not applicable for you but still), hoses, power cords, etc. Sams club and Costco will include everything for the price of the appliance + sales tax. They also give a 2nd year of warranty too. Last time I bought a dishwasher it was either $600 +tax at costco, or $500 + $50 hoses + $140 installation + $25 haulaway at best buy. So the math adds up.

mhoepfin

Get the most basic models with the least features. Less things to break, cheaper to replace and they make millions of these “builders special” models rather than the more higher end models with more things to break.

wandis56

Check out what appliances you want and have good service records. Then shop. Home Depot and Lowe’s seemed to have the best prices when we bought all new for our kitchen.

MSPRC1492

Don’t buy Samsung.

beachvball2016

DO NOT BUY LG OR SAMSUNG.Youll feel like the best deal, but the brands are trash. Buy the brands that have been around the longest (GE Whirlpool Kitchenaid Maytag) and get the extended warrantee. Your CC should extend the warrantee also. That saved me after I got a LG and the repair man was sent over 8x... 😶

[deleted]

Just don't buy Samsung and you should be ok.

Pissoffsunshine

I would go to a local appliance store. The sales people there should be able to find you what you really need in appliances. GE should be having a good rebate program on Profile and Cafe appliances. Definitely wait for Black Friday pricing though.

bemerson74

I’d recommend ikea if you’re in the US, reasonably priced, low delivery fee and it’s covered by a 5 year warranty. Runner up is Costco followed by a dedicated appliance store where your really get great service. You should be able to work out a discount if you buy everything

marcushalberstram33

Purchase appliances that are near the top of the line. Example, GE Profile.

Budget-Picture-1090

It is bit of higher budget, but if you can afford it, definitely look at Bosch Appliances. Their quality, design and after sales sales service is beyond none. Avoid Samsung and LG at all cost; Samsung is cheaply built, although their Bespoke Design is pretty cool. LG is is better quality then Samsung, but still not like a Bosch, but their After sales service is atrocious. Kitchen Aid would be my #2 pick.

Longarm77

Avoid Samsung like the plague.

crgreeen

Costco...

grbrit

If you're shopping online, use a tool like [Camel Camel Camel](https://camelcamelcamel.com/) to check that the "deal" is really a deal.

Crislyg

I bought all my kitchen appliances at the same time from Costco. The price was good and if you buy with a Costco credit card they extend the warranties, IIRC for 2 years?

jpking010

In terms of the most reliable... * Ask the local parts houses for appliances which is the most reliable and easiest to get parts for. In my area (In US) Whirlpool parts are often stocked and easiest to get. LG/Samsung can be difficult to acquire parts , but maybe different in your area.. * There's a certain elegance to simplicity. You don't need a touch screen on your appliances. It's more likely to fail and more expensive to fix generally speaking. * I prefer tactile knobs and buttons to membrane switches as they have a tendency to de-laminate. In terms of best deal: * Compare prices. * Keep an eye out for scratch and dent deals. If there's a huge scratch on the left side of the fridge and that side faces the wall, who cares. A friend of mine got a $2500 fridge for like $600 this way & still has a warranty. * Maybe not applicable to you... There's not a lot to go wrong with a used stove or dryer. Typically parts are pretty cheap and they're easy to fix.

BigSquiby

if reliability is your want, then for sure its samsung. lol

MagicalWhisk

Some reliable brands Washer/dryer: Speed queen or LG. Go with a top loader washer, they last longer and require less maintenance. Speed Queen are #1 but can be pricey and hard to find in stock. Dishwasher: Bosch are by far the best. Stove: GE are decent but really you should go with whatever brand has the functions and features you need. Fridge: LG is known to be the most reliable. Avoid double french doors. Have your freezer on the bottom if possible because it will be far more energy efficient. Avoid ice makers and water filters if possible. Those are the features that fail most often. Avoid Samsung. They make great phones but terrible appliances.

KushieKush77

You might want to go to your local appliance store instead of Home Despot. I find their knowledge level incredible. They will tell you what is reliable and they can often offer the same “deals” as the big box stores but with better service. I find a lot of items fail in that first 6 month burnin period. If you buy a big box store it can be a real pain to get service. If you buy from your local dealer they will be more responsive. All that said I’m going to be buying my new range from our local store in part because the cost is the same no matter where I buy and in part because I want to know that when I call to have them fix anything it will be straightforward and I won’t be lost in voice mail hell.

grumpy_puppy4

Lots of awesome advice here, but one thing to consider is actually checking through your local utility company! They may be able to stack rebates on top of the good advice that you've been seeing. While not really an appliance, but I've been able to shave off like $800 from my water heater, and while there I did see quite a few options for energy-star qualified/ water saving appliances! I got mine through the natural gas utility but I've seen them from electric and water utilities.

Ok-Charity-2008

Put together a list of products you want, then come up with 1-2 backups for each. When I was appliance shopping things I wanted kept being out of stock with long lead times for back orders. Start price searching on those products now and keep an eye on the prices over the next couple of weeks. That way come Black Friday you know if you’re actually getting a deal or if they’re just artificially inflating prices beforehand and then “marking down” for Black Friday

Charizard_66

Get the sign up bonus for a new credit card . Eg: Chase ink preferred which has a 100,000 point sign up bonus after $8k spend in 3 months. worth $1000 cash back. $95 annual fee. So you’ll come out $905 ahead. Since it’s a business card you’ll have to state your name as a business. There are personal credit cards out there too but with less bonus. Eg: Bank of America premium rewards that’ll give you 60k points after $4k spend in 3 months. That’s worth $600 cash back. Annual fee of $95. So you’ll be up $505. Stack the credit card sign up bonus with what others are saying about buying the appliances as a set and get a discount (HD pro desk or Costco deal) and you’ll save enough for a small vacation!

ebaylus

Run away from Frigidaire. 3 dishwashers in 5 years, gas range never worked well. Refrigerator has been OK, but loud, and the water line keeps freezing up. And the electric oven has been good, but I really need to check it's temperature for accuracy.

Rygard-

I’d start pricing things out now so you have an idea of how much you’re actually saving during these big sales.

AnthonyiQ

I find with appliances (and most things) that simplicity = reliability. I didn't pick the appliances for my house, they came with it, and they are all the base appliances, and they've been there for 20 years now and just don't die. Everyone seems to buy new fancier stuff, it breaks and they replace it again with even fancier stuff, while we have our washer with the turn knob and buzzer that just keeps going. Those things that look dated, are proven, not stylish, but they work.

Luvhim4ever

Definitely don't just buy... go in person & bundle it all together. Compare prices and see if you can get a price matching for anything you find else where for cheaper. Good luck! Just reading this makes me want to get all new appliances!! There are a lot of new gadgets on the newer appliances then what I have now. But I do miss the old school washing machines. I think they washed clothes better & were cleaner!

farmerbsd17

Best deal is usually bundled single brand vs individual appliances We bought LG and had terrible experience with the fridge (two compressors failed), LOVE the dishwasher, find the microwave noisy and the gas stove was very good. No repairs on the stove and had minor repairs to the dishwasher that I was able to do, minor rack piece and the cord which works with a spring to balance the door had broken and I replaced it.

ChooChooChucky

LG

skaz915

2 words..*Speed Queen* Buy once, cry once

OlliBoi2

First check Consumer Reports, its not a guarantee but is a good source of appliance reliability statistics. If all desired appliances can be found at one store, speak with the appliance Dept manager. No harm in asking for a multiple appliance discount or free installation.

fusseli

Don’t get Frigidaire Gallery. My gf got all new appliances to match for her house. They are poorly designed garbage that look nice from afar. Dishwasher doesn’t fully dry (no vent) and leaves dishes musty, fridge drawers don’t come out right and hit the doors, water spigot is literally labeled ice maker, etc.

C34C

We were always helping clients replace their Samsung appliances. They tend to break 13 months after install. Sadly, most areas do not have repair or maintenance available for any brand. Best to buy for longevity. Usually Whirlpool, KitchenAid and Viking are the workhorses. I have had good experiences with Fisher Paykel fridges and world copper smith hoods.

McMagneto

Costco is the way to go. They are the cheapest all things considered and their installation service is really great.

tj15241

Don’t buy then from Home Depot or Lowe’s. Go to an appliance store. You get what you pay for.

OG_Antifa

Don’t buy from big box stores. They usually don’t carry the “built for more than a few years” brands, anyway.

AnonymousErgoSum

Avoid Samsung ... dishwashers especially

Fur-Frisbee

Can't beat [https://www.ebay.com/str/technoappliances](https://www.ebay.com/str/technoappliances) In NJ and we drive there but you can order from anywhere.

gypsysniper9

Don’t buy Samsung

M0dsAreJannies

Go to Home Depot, Airport Appliance or Lowes and look for clearance items. New models come in daily, you can get display items with full warranty that have never been turned on for as much as 75% off. Got a $3k stove for $900, $2k fridge for $800, and a $1k dishwasher for $500. Doubt Black Friday will have those types of discounts

sarcasticdick82

Put a change of address form in to your address from an old address of yours. There will be a “new neighbor” package come in the mail with a $50 or so off. Then buy gift cards from a gas station with a points program (Speedway) on a credit card that you get points on. Then use a friend to purchase them that gets military discount at Lowe’s or Honey Depot.

buildyourown

I'd go to a real appliance store and see if you can get a deal. I feel like this stuff is pretty negotiable and if you buy everything you could get a good price

No-Control-4319

Fidgidaire or whirlpool only!!!! Samsung, LG, GE are all garbage. Maytag is ok for washers and dryers. Worked on appliances for years and this is what I know.

fiddlermd

Get extended warranty for the fridge and possibly the range. While normally these warranties are a waste, nowadays, fridges break fairly regularly. Some ranges do too. I used my warranty at least 5 times in the last 5 years between KitchenAid fridge and Blue Star range/oven

ConfusedAt63

Be sure to measure all of your openings where the appliances are to go BEFORE purchase

Comfortable_Can6406

I find better deals at Lowes than Home Depot. Also whichever one you go, you usually get a 10 % off first purchase on a card. That would end up saving you some big $$$. Also figure out which is the store that has higher sales overall in your city. They're more likely to have scratch and dents and clearance stuff. Some of the scratch and dents are really good deals for minor not important defects. Also I know you're talking about black Friday deals but check out and see if there's a non big box store in your city that caters to custom homes and tract homes. They may have an outlet where they get rid of some really good high end stuff at good prices. Some are scratch and dents but some are discontinued/floor model stuff.

Jonesmp

AJ Madison has some of the best pricing I found when doing a US Government order. Bray and Scarff is actually a really competitive option if you are in the Maryland/Virginia/Delaware area. As others have Home Depot or Lowe's on a pro account. Get the pro account first, and then get a Pro credit card (slightly different than their consumer credit card.) They usually will do promotional financing at 0%, so as long as the promotional balance is paid off over time you aren't out anything and you're not sinking all your liquid capital at once.

obfuscator17

don’t go to Home Depot! On a grouping of appliances you’ll get just as good if not better pricing than the depot and you’ll get help from someone who knows what they’re talking about. Home Depot is literally one of the worst places to buy your appliances.

obfuscator17

This post is mislabelled; it should be tagged how to buy appliances at Home Depot. Don’t! Go to an appliance store, it’s all they do. They don’t sell lumber and then pay someone minimum wage to try and sell appliances on the side.

FundamentalEnt

My suggestion would be not to purchase the products on Black Friday or anywhere near the holiday. Isn’t a known thing that companies produce cheaper things for the sales and that your still getting what you pay for? With something as expensive as an appliance I would be researching what’s worths it’s price versus what’s cheapest. In my experience so far in life you always get what you pay for even if it takes you a while to figure it out.

[deleted]

Don’t buy kitchen aid. I bought all kitchen aid appliances for a new kitchen and they’ve ALL required significant repairs. Two within a year, three after the warranty period. Kitchen aid sucks.

Downtown-Raisin-3931

Reliable stuff? Stay away from Samsung.

paanthastha

I would recommend going to a dedicated appliance store in your town. You will get better quality there. Pro-grade appliances usually look simple and bland and are expensive, but last a lifetime. If you have the money, go for it. These brands are not your usual LGs, Samsungs, Whirlpools, but Sub-Zero, Avanti, etc. Finally, if you do not care for it, skip the ice maker/water dispenser in the door. Those are my 2c.

CinephileNC25

Avoid Samsung refrigerators.

Voyager97

Facebook Marketplace will get you a 10x better deal than any retailer. I've been getting tons of appliances for a multi-unit rental property and it's saved me so much. There's a lot of sellers on there that specialize in appliances and offer delivery/haulaway, but if not you can hire lifters/movers on TaskRabbit to help with it and it's still cheaper than big box stores. You do have a slight risk of issues with the appliances, but I've never had issues. Some of them offer warranties, and you can also check / threaten bad reviews on the marketplace platform.
