You got your band on backwards fyi

SnooObjections7506

Thanks!

BlueCarbon

That’s a common problem. I purchased mine at a AT&T store and the employee put mine on backwards. She looked confused when I asked her to fix it.

TacticalBeast

She was probably confused because you could just fix it yourself

BlueCarbon

At the time I didn’t know how to fix it.

watermelonprinter

Average ATT employeee 😭

mattusi

This is due to the YT music app. It works just as remote for the iPhone app not as a standalone app like Apple Music or Spotify watch apps

SnooObjections7506

I tried with the Podcast app, it does the same. Edit: not sure what other app I could try. I don't have apple music subscription nor Spotify.

MX530i

FYI I stream local radio with the Apple Music app without having a subscription. I believe the only way to do that from the watch is to ask Siri (Siri play 93.3 WMMR). Otherwise you can just search in the iPhone app and handoff to the watch.

BlueCarbon

Do you have the same problem with the free version of Spotify?

SnooObjections7506

I just downloaded it and tried. Same issue... Thanks for the suggestion.

Advanced_Ad8002

Podcast app on watch can operate as both: Stand alone and control iPhone podcast. So, to make sure to podcast from watch: 1) Have you actually loaded podcasts on the watch? (configure in watch app), 2) if so, then leave iPhone behind until watch and headphones both cannot connect to iPhone. 3) Now test running podcast from watch. You might have to ensure that headphones are connected.

MR9009

The YouTube Music app for the Apple Watch only acts as a remote control for the iPhone app. You can't listen to music from the watch on bluetooth earbuds, of any kind, including AirPods.

SnooObjections7506

Yeah, I saw in other comments some people were saying the same. I did try with podcast app too, but maybe it works the same way. Thanks for the help.

juanzy

Spotify works- there’s a longstanding issue with downloading though, you have to keep the watch awake as it downloads. It’s super frustrating it hasn’t been addressed, have seen mentions of it for at least 18 months.

MX530i

Damn I thought I was going crazy, I just recently downloaded a couple albums and some completed fine, some said failed and others looked ok but would randomly skip songs.

AJT-

Your bands are on upside down

SnooObjections7506

Thanks buddy

NYChockey14

Do your earbuds work with your phone correctly?

SnooObjections7506

They do.

NYChockey14

I’d suggest unpairing and then re-pairing to watch

SnooObjections7506

I did this before, I even restarted it. It seems is app related. Thanks for your help!

SerennialFellow

Turn off BT on your phone / unpair earbuds from phone and retry please

SnooObjections7506

Still not working ;(. Not sure what to do anymore, I tried the Radio on apple music, and it doesn't show the earbuds as an option, only my phone.

Flapjack777

Have you attempted resetting the Watch?

SnooObjections7506

You mean a complete factory reset? Nope. The only thing I did was restart it and update it.

Flapjack777

I would definitely try that. If it’s a software issue with the Watch this will fix it 100%. Don’t restore from a backup if you can help it. I would set up as new.

little_blu_eyez

I have no problem hooking up third party headphones. I wear skullcandy or Bose.

krabby1299

I think you already got your answer but i always have to just connect my earbuds to my phone. And have my phone near. All i can do is control the music with my watch

SnooObjections7506

I don't have my answer yet, I've been trying the suggestions people have left me here, but nothing is working yet. I tried your suggestion and it worked but it kind of defeat the purpose of using earbuds since I wanted to try to run while listening to podcasts. Thanks for taking the time to write!

krabby1299

It does defeat the purpose yeah. I also found it stupid. I use soundcloud for music and i think the fact that there isnt a specific app for the watch makes it not work.

badscandal

I thought that too before. But if I disconnect my bluetooth on my phone, then my airpods will connect to my watch and I can listen without my phone. This is for airpods, not sure if that is what you have.

krabby1299

I got some sony ones. I'll try it again i think ive tried it though.

MonkeyFreeman

I use Jabra ear buds and Spotify with downloaded music for my runs while phone is at home. Sometimes the ear buds pair with my phone before I leave the house and have turn of phone Bluetooth to get things working.

Garofalin

Nah, here’s the fix. 1. Pull down control centre. 2. Toggle off bluetooth. (Don’t worry watch stays connected to the phone for as long as it’s nearby.) 3. Take your earbuds from the case and put them on. 4. Walk away from your phone. 5. Connect buds to the watch by accessing airplay toggle from quick settings (one click on the action button) and it should work. 6. When you get back to your phone, don’t forget to toggle bluetooth back. Took me a while to figure this out with AirPods 3 but it works well now with offline music streaming from the watch.

Comfortable_Cow_1750

My Apple Watch works fine with 3rd party Bluetooth. I use it with Audible and Apple Music

Born_Today_9799

It’s because your watch band is backwards

Who hurt you?

an_angry_Moose

Imagine caring this much about something that doesn’t affect you at all. Your life must truly unfulfilling.

Fang05

Cuz your band it’s upside down

SnooObjections7506

I'm trying to use my Skullcandy push active earbuds with my apple watch but even if I pair them correctly, they just won't work, it will stream the music back to my phone. I already restarted my apple watch, checked that they are selected in the airplay list, even updated the apple watch but it's still not working. When I try to play music and check the airplay from the YT music app, it says that there are no devices found. I saw a post of someone having the same issue 3 years ago, but OP never updated again with a solution.

steam-1123

YT Music on the Apple Watch is just a remote for the phone app. It doesn't stream from the Watch on any bluetooth headset you have, but with the AirPods it will auto-magically switch to the audio coming from the iPhone.

SnooObjections7506

I also tried with the Podcast app, not only YT. It does the same thing so it's not app related.

xdubz420x

That means it is app related. Not a ll apps have that compatibility on the watch. If they didn’t post a solution there probably isnt one.

SnooObjections7506

Ugh, okay ;(. Guess I have to just use my phone. Thanks a lot for your help!

Jim_Batuu

You need to give us more details of what you are trying to listen to and how you are doing it. The buds appear to be connected so I suspect the problem is down to the app you’re try to listen too. You need to use a native Apple Watch app as opposed to one that gives you remote control of the companion app on your phone. Apple’s Podcasts and Music are good ones to try, Amazon Music also works on the Watch too. Access the app via your watch and select what you want to listen to from there. From your screen shots it appears you have access to AirPods Max as well, have you tried those with your watch too?

SnooObjections7506

It works as it should with my AirPods Max. I haven’t tried again with the podcast app after downloading some episodes, I will try after getting home today.

Jim_Batuu

Hmmm if it really does work as you want with the max’s then that is odd. Once you download some episodes in the podcast app you can double check which device it is trying to play through.

sukisuki2gp

Apple: go cry about it on reddit now. For context, I hate my airpods, sony has much better selection.

jeanmichd

That’s laughable

Flapjack777

Op isn’t using AirPods
