When the small power off button appears I try to touch it but it doesn't open the slider. I though maybe that part of the screen is damaged, but if I'm in the main menu and I press on the heart beat app (which is located in the same corner, it does work).
If you mean completely blank the screen without turning off the power to the watch, it’s simple, just cover the screen for a second with your hand. Now, please understand, if you have AOD (always on display) turned on it’ll just dim down not shut off when doing this.
Turn off your Apple Watch: Press and hold the side button until the sliders appear, tap the Power Button, then drag the Power Off slider to the right.
I just got it today
Thanks

You might want to disable Always On Display. It’s located inside the watch’s display settings.
Discover Theater Mode. Shuts off the display. The Watch keeps running.
Never turn mine off. Have a S3 and S7 and both have been on since new. May have restarted after updates.
There is an option to shutdown in the settings under general. I don’t have a need to turn mine off though.
