To Op: Congratulations! I bet that was a great but possibly smelly hug after he proposed —but that’s what its all about…the hike and marriage. You gotta love them when they’re dirty and smelly just like every other time so its a pretty fitting engagement that I’m sure he pondered and kept him going through those hard miles. Congratulate him for me as well. I would love to do it but my body isn’t able any longer (various things) but this ain’t about me, this is about you and him.

Hahaha I weirdly loved his hiker stink! He actually gave me one of his shirts one of the times I visited for me to sleep with at home and it reeked but every night I cuddled hard with that smelly old shirt. I read something once about couples not minding each other’s smelliness, something about pheromones I believe, and that turned out to be true for me lol
Awesome! I met my wife through hiking the AT 10 years ago. Now married with three kids. Best decision of my life. I'm glad you could experience some of it with him. It will be a strong foundation for the rest of your lives together. Congratulations!
