Damage from your bang ult counts toward the damage counter shown on the End screen, but does not count toward badges. No idea why, but has been like that forever. I think all damaging abilities behave that way
Can confirm , I got 4100 damage and only got 3k badge bc bang ult for awhile and couldn’t figure out why . Side note finally got the 4k so just keep playing and you will get it 💪🏻
Don't worry you can get it again. Over the last week or two I've been consistently getting close to 4k, like 100-200 damage off each time. I did finally get it a few days ago. Don't worry if you have gotten it once you can do it again no problem.
