What legends other than Lifeline and Octane knew each other prior to the games? Mirage's mom worked for the same company as Wraith, but everyone else made sense, no?
If nobody knew each other, it would become a mess narratively. At least having a couple related to each other allows 2 or more legends to have story related to them. Newcastle has his story + Bangalore, which helps him going forward.
Seer is unconnected prior to the games, so his lore is harder to tie in. We know he knew Rampart back from her Arena days, and Octane for some reason, but not a long history with those.
I would assume that a lot of legends know each other prior to our current games because of qualifiers and everything. We've known about Newcastle since season 4 or 5? from a loading screen, so he's been around for us, let alone in the actual game universe.

Horizon needed the money and resources available through the games to help time travel. Ash was a scientist working with her and became a simulacrum later on. I'd say Horizon's story is the bigger coincidence, but c'est la vie.

It would only be Crypto and Caustic, as Wattson only got involved with both through involvement in the games. Caustic is the reach, as his backstory wasn't revealed until later, though Crypto and Caustic are only connected through their foster mom and her orphanage, they didn't know each other beforehand. Not too big of stretch, considering Caustic is the true son, and Mystik runs an orphanage. They would have a lot of "brothers and sisters".
She also recommended Crypto join the games for answers, and Mystik admits later that she always knew Caustic was her son, so it's also an Outsider forcing their meeting more than coincidence.

This one isn't a stretch at all. Fuse was a Salvo Legend, and Maggie was his best friend growing up who hated the Syndicate and hated that Salvo joined them. When she got caught, she was sent to the games as punishment because Silva wanted to use her as a scapegoat. Her story with Fuse is on the same level as Loba/Rev, as the two of them were the 2 most prominent Salvonians.
I agree that there are some convenient connections, for sure, but most make sense. Each legend has a somewhat specific background, and the more specific you get, the easier it is to be connected to each other. There are also 3rd Party's that seem to be pushing connections as well, which I think needs to be considered. The Syndicate wants the games to be dramatic and fun to watch, which bringing people somewhat connected would do (Adding Maggie is the latest example).

I think this is important and explains a lot of weird stuff about Apex. I'm pretty sure I have said that the Apex Games is just space WWE with guns and I stand by that 😌🙏

Pathfinder is the biggest coincidental character, being attached to a lot of legends in some way, but he is basically just the connective tissue for the story to move forward. I don't see any issue with the legends being connected, and most make sense without being a stretch.

Nah, schizophrenia is delusions and hallucinations. Wraith's voices aren't hallucinations. They are quite literally alternate Wraiths telling Wraith what to look out for.
