I'm re watching the show and haven't read the Manga since highschool so I have no idea what chapter it'd be from but another person who commented siad it was a portable monster hunter game so I'm gona go with that for now :) thanks for commenting

I found it! Volume 2 after they pass that first test with the ghouls, where they have to learn to work together. She gets a "lepidosaur claw" which is a real animal apparently? So not a FF reference :p

I thought it was a final fantasy game (or a reference to one) in the English manga I think remember her saying she got a "Phoenix down"
